A bit early to start this kind of thread but I see Swindon seem to have done a good bit of business early.

John Goddard. 22 year old midfielder. Scored 17 for Woking in the conference. Universal praise from the Woking fans for him as a player and as a person.

I know there will be the call for this to be moved to other football but I think it's interesting to keep an eye on what other clubs, and I think Swindon will be a promotion rival, are doing in the transfer market.

Wilder needs to be sacked. Day after he arrives and Swindon signs this lad.

In seriousness I think a lot of non league players do move locally because they won't earn much.

True, and obviously clubs have good contacts around the local area so it's easy to spot and get players (Adams and Wallace for instance).

Ha, and I'm not for one moment criticising us for not signing him. We've been stuck in this bloody league for years and will be competing for lower league players, so I find it interesting to know what other clubs are doing.

Fair point, though I do think the lower leagues have a pool of players we could be better recruiting from. I had hoped the Adams & Wallace signings would lead to more in this area, but as it stands they're the outliers on a general trend of avoidance. Adkins was either unable (based on scouting) or just unwilling (based on preference) to explore the lower leagues for good value players on the up. We need to get better at this, and hopefully Wilder's background will see us do just that.

Problem for Swindon though is they'll lose yet more of their star players. Kasim & Ajose especially likely to go, along woth Obika. Nathan Thompson, Gladwin, Doughty & Vigororoux all at the end of their loans.

Pretty much another total rebuild for them.

Can see them going down tbh.

Can also see Swindon struggling.

It's going to be interesting to see who the relegated sides sign. I really, really, really don't want to see them hoovering up all the decent players we should be after, could get, and desperately need. Fingers crossed there's a first time for everything.

We can't sign players early as most seasons our new manager is usually settling in!

Or if we have got a manager he's got his head firmly up his arse/in the sand.

If by some miracle we've got a manager who knows what's required the board will make sure he fails to get what he needs. The money men probably all go on holiday until July.

I was told that whoever decides the transfers was genuinely unavailable and away for the whole of January.

Has everyone forgot we have already been told what to expect for the next two transfer windows?

Just because they made the bloke who told us shut up and resign doesn't mean it isn't true.

Can we have Yaser Kasim from Swindon then. Exactly why we've cried out for since Mcdonald went always surpised he's never been signed by anyone

This is SUFC we're talking about ........ the decision makers will probably not be available for discussions until the end of august ..... :tumbleweed:

UTB & FTP

Don't know about League 1 signings, it's some bloody decent talent spotting scouts we need to recruit

To be fair not selling Mcdonald in the first place may have helped that. Same as nothe selling Harry would have helped us not need a centre half.
