Fun fact!

That 'clean slate' that Nigel Adkins gave the squad isn't specific to him. Quite a few people do it. It's actually quite a fair thing to do, seeing as it's a bit shit to judge someone on how they performed under a different regime rather than see for yourself what they can do for you. It's why it's better to sack at Christmas, if that's what you're going to do, and plan signings for the summer so that you can assess what you have over the second half of the season.

So prepare your anuses for another round of that shite in July whilst other clubs are wrapping up deals for the cream of the crop.

Can't wait to see what scraps we pick up in early August. My nads tingle with excitement.

'Season of transition', anyone?

Wonder if the compensation for Nige et al. has come out of the transfer kitty?

Fucks sake.

Sounds like we are preparing for League 2 now.

Where you'd have been throwing your toys out of your pram even more than you are now.

This will be the reason we don't see all that investment we've got, again...
Yet it will magically appear once we get promoted.

Hmm...

The clean slate point is bang on.

Plus, you've got to remember that a lot of our players come with hefty reputations in the game.

You can image Wilder thinking "That Jose Baxter, he's had a couple of off seasons but he's definitely got talent despite his 'extra curricular activities' - I can defin'tely bring out the best of him."

This is where the board have to step in and insist that some players have to go. But then, we don't want the board interfering in recruitment and arguably not in retention.

So what do we do? He can hardly go to Adkins and ask how the players performed last season.

I'd have been even more astounded, because 6 months is even less time to do a job with this mess that he was left with.

It's not throwing your toys out of the pram to think that this is a fucking stupid idea.

I'm with the OP..

Will Wilder think that Scougall, McEverley, Baxter, and whoever else is good enough?

He needs to come in now and postpone their holidays in order to get a good look at them before July 1st.

Chrisy will get a good look at his squad for next Season on Saturday ...........................

He'll only give a 'clean slate' to players who we have no choice but to keep (unless contracts are paid up).

The out of contract players have already been released and Flynn and Edgar who have been offered deals will now be in limbo.

It seems that decisions have already been made on those out of contract, since Kennedy has revealed he has been told that he is being released.

I'd be very surprised if anybody other than Long is given a new contract.

The likes of Freeman, Scougall, McNulty etc are still under contract so it isn't simply a case of getting rid of them anyway. The only one I could see us having interest in is McNulty.

The problem of the squad having so many players not good enough is now so apparent that surely the club will be fully aware and not allow those out of contract to be retained. I hope.

....who Wilder will have seen playing against Northampton.

He's got his ear to the ground regarding sufc, he as friends that watch us regularly ( apparently ), if it is wilder, he'll know what needs doing.

He had DCL on loan for the first half of the season and he was scoring goals, so if/when it's Wilder it'll be interesting to see if he can get the best out of him.
