Have noticed that this forum allows youtube and other video sharing websites links (forgive me if I am wrong) so I thought I would start a thread that provide links for past Blades matches before 2000. To start off here is the exciting 3-3 draw at home to Man City (who should have won the league before slipping up late in the season allowing Derby to win the title) in February 1972

We do allow youtube videos (never really understood why Webbo didn't)... we've even got a few videos ourselves knocking around on there.

You can even embed the video so it plays within the forum page, but Foxy's the person you need to speak to about how you do that :D

Many thanks Sitwell. You just made my morning!! Not seen those clips for many a year. I have an old video of BBC Match of the Day featuring Blades games, but not got a video player anymore.
Just got my lad to watch the clips. He can't believe the muddy pitches of yesteryear.

Oooops....sorry meant Silent. Must still have my beer goggles on from last neet. Sorry

Thanks Silent, enjoyed watching that. Who made the save on the line for us - was it Steve Cammack? And would he have been sent off for that?

Mick Speight. I think it was his full debut for us. Alan Ogden (RIP) also made his debut in that match

Just to let you all know... we like to be accomodating around here (within reason :D). So therefore you can embed your youtube videos in your actual post (rather than just linking to them).

To do this:

1) Identify the video ID, this is after the "v=" in any Youtube link, so in Silents first example it's "BLs0cKm1ETE"

2) Wrap this value in the following tags (without the *'s) = [youtube*]VIDEO ID HERE[/youtube*]
This will then embed the video directly within your post :)

Just like this....

I'm a bit rubbish at finding old footage. Does anyone happen to have a link for the 3-1 win at the sty in 1992?

Just edited the post for you to embed the youtube video in your post :)

If you wanna see how I did it, click edit :)

Blades throw away a 2-0 lead at Wolves 94-95
Blimey the commentator was getting a bit carried away. Thought for a moment he was gonna launch into a "Derek Dooley, Sean Bean, Joe Cocker we gave your boys one hell of a beating" style rant.

More Wolves v Blades action. 1989 promotion party ..

There was a bloke by the username SirBobBooker who posted loads of great blades moments stretching from the 1989/90 documentary by the bbc to the present day with loads of videos from in between.

He duly had his videos removed due to copyright, ffs.

That's exactly why I don't upload loads to Youtube.

We had ITV successfully claim copyright over a video of us celebrating Akinbiyi's goal at the sty and everything on our account removed.

Apparently, ITV own our voices and faces, as thats what the majority was!

It's just pathetic isn't it, i remember watching that video, wasn't it also on google video (before they bought youtube??) and its really silly how they can claim copyright, one of those annoying things i guess.

I went to that Stockport away game and dragged a wedbesday fan. We were on a lads holiday in Blackpool and I managed to persuade him that it would be more fan than a few beers down the front! I thought it was dreadful so christ knows what he made of it.

Was ar the Wolves 2-2 as well - bizarre ground with one huge stand miles from the pitch (still there as part of the new Molineux) and 2 sides derelict. Remember Tracey et al jumping on the fence behind the net to celebrate promotion not realising the game was still going on? Typical United. Took ages to get home as the exhaust was hanging off my dad's K reg Escort. Happy Days

What a piece of video history.

The Kit
The Players
The Pitch
The Piss Poor Defending

Man I wish I was either 20 years older or in possession of a time machine!

I do reckon tho as it is United 125th Anniversary the club should have gone retro with the new home kit. A simple Red and White striped shirt, Black Shorts and White socks.

The club would have made millions in shirt sales alone!

Interesting stat I heard from a pig mate on saturday night, Wednesday sold 5,500 home shirts in 2 days when they released it the other week!

I bet Strafford wishes he could sell Season Tickets at that rate!!!

But I would like to know how many makro aprons United have shifted since they went on sale.

I remember watching that one a few times, from the top left corner of the leppings lane end.

What difference was that to the countless videos of BT pens etc. that are on Youtube?

Does anyone think we'll get OUR football back one day?
