I think monty and quinn will leave along with many more

Evans in front of both Camara and Henderson? I take it the white lightening is in plentiful supply?

Given the premise that we'll have a new manager, surely we'd have Sharp back who's scoring record is roughly 3X more prolific than Evans', over a much larger span of games.

IMO, we would need to be careful about going for proper football too fast. It needs phasing out rather than a radical change. And in this league, there is a need to mix it sometimes - look at Donny who pass all the time. Yeah it looks nice but it hasn't done them much good in terms of the league table has it? (I realise they're overachieving for them BUT in terms of the overall picture, they're in mid-table and going neither up nor down.)

Just because we want to play football does not mean we'd need to get rid of anybody who couldn't ... Henderson would still have a massive role to play. He often looks frustrated by the fact the ball is round his head all the time. Utilise his strength play in different ways and he could be a very useful player.

As for Monty. I'd keep him too. We know his limitations but he does what he does better than anybody else. At times in a season, we need a player like Monty and IF we went up in this new regime of super-football, we'd need Monty in the Premier League. Monty is one of those players: solid Championship player; excellent Premier League player (relative to us of course). Look at how important he was to us in the PL.

For me:

I'd get shut of Kenny but that's a personal opinion. We need a big tall commanding keeper to get out of this division and then worry about a better shot stopper if we get out. Aksalu seems to be doing OK and impressing so we might go with him or find another. I wouldn't go with either Kenny or Bennett.

Defensively, I'd keep Morgan and I'd bring Seip in. If we could get Bartley in on loan for a season, that'd be great. 'Nos' would be useful too depending on the situation he is in at Sun'lun. I think defensively we aren't too bad at moment. We need a LB but I'd also keep Andy Taylor who I think could develop still. So a RB and a LB needed plus Nos and Seip.

I'd keep Monty; not sure on Harper yet but I'd lose Quinn who I think needs a move. I'd build the side around Willo if he is going to stay fit; if not, I'd get rid. We need a consistent midfield. Yeates suits me with Ward but I think we'd need a LW if we get rid of Quinn.

Cresswell is suitable for now and I'd keep Hendo. Evans and Camara would be better in a footballing side and I'd also keep Sharp in the mix. We don't need new strikers, we need to play to their strengths.

Five or six quality additions needed; plus a manager. That's going to be costly. We don't have the money to do it I fear.

Paddy Kenny

Mikhel Aksalu

Players to sign in bold. I'm making the assumption that Naysmith, Camara and Harper will all leave at the end of their contracts as part of the "re-profiling" as they're high earners. Although I would like to keep them all. Cant see it though.

Good post - In terms of the new players - there should be plenty available next season as the finances really bite. I think given the natural wastage we'll see, we should still be able to out muscle most championship sides. And for once it looks like the relegated sides wont be certs for filling the tops spots.

Well sumat needs fixing thats for sure.

For me its not just a new manager we need, the Blades need to change from the foundations up !

You can forget Geary, I'm afraid. He won't last more than a few games ever again sad to say

Yes i think he has massive potential i really do, i don't think billy will want to come back anyway and Camara can be unpredictable.

But he costs too much money. He was a quick fix solution for United and I would imagine McCabe and co are not prepared to carry his wages beyond the end of the season. I like Camara but in the club's eyes he won't have done enough to demand another generous salary under our current restrictions.

I would be astonished if he was still at the club next season

I thought he'd turned down our contract offer made at the start of the season only to come back with his tail between his legs when on-one else would offer him owt?

Can't seeing him costing us too much if it was on our terms not his?

You're talking about Sheffield United. Nothing is ever on our terms.

Not necessary to spend fortunes on players, will be many players released at the end of the season. Replacement players need to be fit, pacey, physically strong and capable of playing decent passing football and must be comfortable at this level of football (ie Championship). Could also use one or two (not 8) long term loan players of reasonable quality. eg Nosworthy, Walker/Noughton if available.

So in other words you want the ideal mix of players that every team at this level and even above would love to have!!! :D

I'm sure all the teams in this league would love to be a poor man's Arsenal!

Be very surprised if Harper is still here and we'll do well to keep hold of Wardy. Camara's out of contract as well so with others potentailly moving on as you say, I reckon we're going to be looking at another major re-building job basing a team around Paddy, Morgs, Williamson, Yeates and Cresswell !!
