Of course your both right but the system at the moment has all the power with the players.
How many of this years squad are ex academy?
Anyone decent [apart from Sharp and we've had to buy him back twice] are playing for others.
I really have a problem with the academy and don't think its worth the effort. Personally I'd put the money into first team signings instead.
If you really feel so strongly against the academy then there is no point debating it. You are entitled to your opinion.
I think its worth noting that next years 4 first year Pros, Semple, Gilmoor, Hallam & Ty Smith have all had a chance to leave the club in the last 18 months and earn far more money than they get with us.
They have been at the club since 8 years old and follow the Blades home and away when their own fixtures allow and don't want to play for anyone else, hence accepting far less wages than the majority of first year pros with other clubs. That for me shows plenty of commitment to want to play for our club.
That said, if the SUFC put a value on their heads and a club comes in and offers it, then the club will sell. So as far as young players are concerned you are wrong to assume they have all the power...... They don't.
