I know that a few have moaned about falling attendances in the recent past but the figure yesterday was 17,956.

The next three highest totals in Division One were: 6213 (Oldham), 6197 (Chesterfield) and 5510 (Notts County) - which total 17,920.

In other words, the attendance at Bramall Lane was more than the next three highest, put together.

OK - so it's not 20,000+, but very respectable, nonetheless.

Decent turnout - but was that one of our only 2 offer games of the season? £13 on Kop yesterday I think and £11 for members and nice day, team doing well etc.

Afraid attendances are likely to be lower at future games unless bolstered by special interest/bigger away followings.

That was my first game of the season and I loved it. But I won't be paying the prices being charged for the Huddersfield match. Shame as we could have had 25,000 for that game with decent pricing and if we'd been more ambitious with our ST sales.

I can't see it though. Season tickets were sold on the basis that there wouldn't be offers. I think they've got more to lose by going aginst that. I'm a ST holder but would welcome a reduction in prices (>£28.50 for Huddersfield is a joke) but I can't see it happening.

Same here alco, I couldn't care less if they reduced the price of the Huddersfield game to £20. They could make every game £20 for me.

We were discussing this in the pub before the game and personally I can't see how I can lose out if they have more offers or reduce the prices for the different categories, I paid £309 for season tickets for me and my daughter which works out at just over £13 a game for the pair of us. I'd have liked to see something like a flat rate of £15 for adults on the kop and have some offers at £10 for the matches where we'd perhaps struggle to get the walk up fans. Have U16's at £5 each and maybe then people would spend more on things like programmes and in the club shop. They'd also spend more on food/drink but that goes staright to Compass and not the club I believe.

I'm sure something can be done to make it more attractive to the stay aways without devaluing season ticket holders commitment.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if the Kop were considered a "discount" area of the ground. I know some are fond of it but for the facilities and view, there's no way you should be expected to pay upwards of £25 to sit there.

We'd have to reflect that pricing in the away end too... which would be fine by me but the Westfield Corner would then become a bit of an anomaly.

It maybe be price, convenience, a sense of loyalty, sitting with mates or more likely a combination of the above that sways it for you. But if the club feels it needs to make additional offers to capture those who said no to the original deal, does it affect your own enjoyment? For instance, on any flight, train or in any Hotel, chances are that someone will have a better deal than you, just as chances are someone will have worse, but as long as you're happy with the one you've got what's the problem?

I don't know what it works out per game in the South Stand or JS but I'm sure they could make them more reasonable without making STH worse off financially than pay on the day fans.

Which is why - I have said about 10,000 times - we should be really be dominating a league like this (as, indedd, we are at the moment).

Incidentally Wednesaday's average is still slightly higher than ours - 18,338 to 17,689 - though that is only because of their 21,000+ in their first game. Their other two attendances have both been below 17,000.

The problem is Raul that there are a lot of moaning bastards who will think they are being 'done' and moan whinge or even threaten legal action. All 4 reasons you give sit with me and I have no objection to any discounts at all.

It's a good point. One problem is that by continully discounting a product, people eventaully refuse to pay face value. I can understand why they have removed the real cheapies, but £30 for third division football is a joke.

I think cheap half Season Tickets might be floated as a way to take advantage of our start to the season.

If we maintain the good form a few old ST holders may decide the risk the depths of the 3rd tier.

I think if we keep up this form, then we might see more attending at the Lane over the next few weeks, and one thing i've noticed around me on the kop that some of the annoying fuckers have disappeared this season. Mind you there was one idiot within earshot of me choosing to berate United at every opportunity.

They could always offer all current ST holders an additional reduction on next years renewal.

This further rewards the "loyal" fans, while allowing us to make the most of our start to the season.

Write to all ST holders for the last 3 seasons who didn't renew and offer them ST's at the original renewal price; offer them to fans who achieved over a certain amount of reward points etc.

I suppose compared to what you have to put up with at the Sty, our kop is decent enough. But it's not up to the standards of the rest of the Lane.

That attendance has only been bettered once this season anywhere in the division, and that was for the opening game across the divide.

What ever way you cut it, its a good figure considering.

The only club to have posted any attendances above our's is Wednesday, and their average is only above our's because of their high opening day attendance. Even Charlton have yet to post an attendance a big as our smallest attendance. Noone else gets close.

Only 3 games in but only 5 clubs averaging over 10,000 and the 6th is down at 7500. I said it during the Summer and I still think that if we're up there challenging at Xmas and keep it going, we'll end up averaging more than last season (especially if the club respond).
