Suppose Weds fans are thinking the same, but one of us must be in for some success as its the year of the pig in the Chinese New Year cycle.

Clearly "WE ARE NOT PIGS" ........EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. don't they??

I'd happily admit that Blades are pigs if it meant getting promotion. Fingers would be crossed, mind.

If you read Porktalk it certainly is.
Never has there been a set of more delusional fans. They honesty believe thay can make the play offs, i am not talking 1 or 2 either.
Brucie(has they like to call him) is the new Messiah.
But by far the best one was after they had played Chelsea and they were pissed off at the BBC coverage and lack of praise given to them, one delusional Pig actually said he thought Wednesday where bigger or at least equal to Chelsea.

Pre-Bates/Abramovich they might have had an argument, Chelsea weren’t all that, but it’s not 1995.

Without checking, I'm guessing that the oinkers got bigger crowds than Chelsea pre-Bates/Abramovich - as discussed in the "lowest ever crowd" thread. But today, after 20 years of marketing and global fame for Chelsea, there's no comparison.

True. The game is global now and whereas a lot of people in, say south east Asia, know who Leicester are, even Burnley or Bournemouth, none of them give a shit that Forest and Villa once won the European Cup, that Leeds played in a final of the same competition and that the pigs won the league cup in 1991, any more than they give a shit that we once won the league.

And ya try to tell em but do they believe you?

I’ve been to a few we’ll supported club’s grounds over the years where the attendance has been mid teens or lower. Like you say Chelsea was one of them but also, Roker Park and even Main Road. It’s amazing wat a decent stadium and/or a genuine hope of success can bring in new support.

Not sure the year of the pig signifies success by any stretch of the imagination, quite the opposite if you know your Chinese zodiac.

The story goes that the Jade Emporer invited all the animals in the world to take part in a race, with the prize for turning up being a place in the Chinese zodiac. The pig got peckish on it's way round and after stopping for food, dozed off. The Emperor had almost given up on it but, it finally finished and the Emporer was happy to assign it the final space in the zodiac.

Sounds very much like our porcine neighbours season so far

Well that should save Wednesday's decade for them if we get promoted in the year of the pig.
