Whilst discussing world class players seen at the Lane, my mate claims to have seen Lev Yashin in a testimonial in the 1960's.

I don't remember Yashin but we are both fairly certain of seeing Oleh Blokhin in a friendly against Kiev Dynamo in 1972 ish. Can't find any evidence though.

Assistance in confirming or eliminating these 2 would be appreciated.

Blades v Dynamo Kiev February 8th 1972 kick off at 7.30pm. It seems we did not fall victim to the power cuts and have to play it on a midweek afternoon.

Santos with Pele were at Hillsborough about 2 weeks later.

Real international feel about Sheffield that month.

Hodgy was better than Yashin.

Been away. Yes Blokhin played in the Kiev Dynamo match in February 1972. I was at the game. When he won the European footballer of the year in the mid 1970s I hadnt realised that I had seen him play until I read an article in Flashing Blade. Will post a photo of the line up later today
