blade too long
we go again
Nathan Byrne did the same in the PO semi-final, not so much a "screamer" but still a shot from way out which we should have closed down much quicker.
so if we hit one like that its down to the other teams bad defending ?

Not per se, but quite often.so if we hit one like that its down to the other teams bad defending ?

Look how many screamers or long range shots other teams consistently score against us, and a lot of the time Howard is genuinely blameless. We don't close down nearly enough.
I'll put my hand up; I thought he and Billy were our best players at Swindon. Please inform me of the details of any poster who has ever described Mceverly as "the best player" and I will apply to have them sectioned.
Some Blades are much better fans than others, they don't get angry, annoyed, upset or any of the like. It's just unequalled, amazing, support. Consistent clapping, well done you. Some of us are scum who are such angry nasty men.
If you came in from work and McEveley was on top of your Mrs there's a few of you would give him a pat on the back cos he plays for United!
Overall I'm over the moon with Adkins, and the squad in general. But there are deficiencies in defence and in creativity. After 5 years I think a bit of frustration and anger is allowed, don't you?

This.
Some labour under the illusion that they are some how 'better' Blades because they twist themselves in knots trying to defend ever slight bit of critisism no matter how ridiculous the excuse is.
It's like 'almost'..
That's true Pete and some people do that but it's equally ridiculous to go completely fucking mental every time we lose a game.This.

Remind me how McEverley played at Swindon and Peterborough earlier in the season and how he performed for the majority of last season. It pisses me off.
I don't care how 'disgusting' I, and other Blades, are for thinking McEveley is absolutely wank and saying so on a football forum.
If he comes on and looks at afore mentioned football forums slating him it's his own problem. I certainly feel no guilt and don't regret saying it. I'm fed up of watching shite players play for my football club, I pay along with 20,000 fans every single week to follow this club around the country, I'll say my peace on every single player if I so wish to.
What anyone says on this forum is certainly not going to cost us as many points as Jay McEveley will this season. That's a fact.
This is the thing with McEveley's big fans, you find it easy to quote the games he played well in rather than the games he played badly in - because there are less of them.Remind me how McEverley played at Swindon and Peterborough earlier in the season and how he performed for the majority of last season.
Try to do this in a constructive manner without swearing or questioning why other Blades have a different opinion to you
What is a Mceverly?

Good post. This is the thing with McEveley's big fans, you find it easy to quote the games he played well in rather than the games he played badly in - because there are less of them.
I'll give him his due, he was very good in both, but as good as he was in them he was equally as bad as Gillingham and Saturday. The rest of the season he's just done his job.
Last season he was pretty good BEFORE the first leg at Spurs, after that there was at least 1 mistake every game. He had Basham's pace to get him out of jail on several occasions. I certainly wouldn't say the majority of the season, far from it.
Are you trying to suggest the majority of blades are wrong for not thinking McEveley is good enough? Even Buchan highlighted to Adkins that a lot of callers had 'questioned' McEveley, Adkins didn't really defend him to the heavens. Maybe he's finally noticing what he gives to the team, nothing. He can't head the ball, has massive lapses in concentration, he can't cross and continually loses the ball and overplays thinking he is Paolo Maldini - at 30 years of age he should know his limitations by now, he isn't a kid.
I'll be constructive and highlight the positives in his game: he is good positionally, he doesn't struggle THAT badly with pacy wingers, he gives 100% - erm... Thats it. Is that enough to keep him in a promotion-vying team?
Would Jay McEveley get in any of the top 6 teams from last year, apart from ours? Swindon released him, MK Dons had him on trial and didn't offer him a contract... So that's two down. Bristol, no way, Preston equally no way. Chesterfield might have but Jones is no worse.
Take the Scouse tinted glasses off and look at it with a clear mind, he is not good enough for us. There really is no plainer way to put it.
I don't paticularly hate McEveley. and if you look at the general tone of my posts I try to look at both sides of the coin. But when it comes to McEveley, seeing his mistakes week after week - yet him being awarded captaincy and playing every week - really grates on me. I assume it's the same for most of his detractors too.Good post.
I neither like or dislike McEverley . I'd like to think I judge players on a game by game basis. He is certainly a be5er full back then centre half but I think he is a very average lower league defender and both Harris and Freeman would be better there but I think he is the target for the vitriol when something goes wrong when clearly other players have made regular mistakes/ errors but not highlighted.
At the moment we do not have a better fit left back than McEveley so he won't be moved out of the team until Harris is fit. Despite this I still think the priority has got to be at centre back and centre midfield as both if these areas are severely lacking in my opinion
Which is exactly my point, it is so much easier to highlight McEveley's good game over his bad ones. That's because there are so few.For every good game McEveley has, we'll get a hand full of average to shit one's in return. I can't wait for the Beard to return, is it towards the end of the year ?
I don't want them scored against us, it could have easily been stoppedcome on , how often do players hit angled screamers from 35 yards out
tell me when we last did it
ome goals care just wonder hits
I don't want them scored against us, it could have easily been stopped
Oh stop trying to be so difficult, if you were there you would have known that certain attack could have been stopped 10+ timesany goal can be stopped when youve analysed a video 3 days later
problem is ,,, footballs live
britains greatest coach ever is still scratching his head on how Naismith got 3 past his red hot favourites for the prem
any attack can be stopped, but a shot like that ,,,,, 99 times out of a hundred that would have ended up in the top tierOh stop trying to be so difficult, if you were there you would have known that certain attack could have been stopped 10+ times
If it wasn't for Bob being injured we probably wouldn't be relying on him, he'd be on the bench.I don't paticularly hate McEveley. and if you look at the general tone of my posts I try to look at both sides of the coin. But when it comes to McEveley, seeing his mistakes week after week - yet him being awarded captaincy and playing every week - really grates on me. I don't blame him for being picked, I know we have a lack of options due to injuries - the thing is we SHOULDN'T be relying on him.
The bottom line of it all is I want us to get promoted more than anything on this earth, if I think one of the players in our team is holding us back I'm not going to pretend otherwise. I apologize if that offends some.

Christ, are you Jay or his missus?Phone-ins are not evidence of McEveley's performance good or bad just evidence of depth of feeling among opinionated and vocal fans.
Buchan is doing his job in raising with the manager the questions that are clogging up his timeline, but that shouldn't be conflated with a dispassionate analysis of actual performance.
ALL THEY HAD TO DO IS TACKLE THE GUY, ITS NOT HARDany attack can be stopped, but a shot like that ,,,,, 99 times out of a hundred that would have ended up in the top tier
its not like the remaining 20 clubs visiting the Lane are going to score a screamer from that range if we are unlucky 2 more might
but if we win 18 more at home Ill be ecstatic
Christ, are you Jay or his missus?
