Nobody associated wit the PL cares - in fact they are probably happy with the current situation - they've created an effectively closed shop.
Agree….also to be honest why should they care?
Many people have predicted that eventually the PL will introduce a system where’s there’s no promotion or relegation
But by recently introducing the 5 subs from 7 rules, time wasting added on rule and next season the 8 second for goalies rule
It means newly promoted teams will find it much more difficult to stay up. Now it’s not about buying to bring your 1st 11 up to PL standard
Promoted teams need to have the finances to buy a squad of 20 players….all capable of playing at PL standard.
So most seasons going forward it will be 3 going up and 3 going down…….and I think this is deliberate.
A closed shop via the back door….so its less controversial.
Regards caring, the EFL don’t care about football or the pyramid system either, their clubs only care about themselves.
It’s taken them ages to allow more than 1 team to be promoted from the national league….when the evidence shows it’s a high standard in that league.
Also not sure how the EFL can complain about fairness when most of the TV money goes to the Champiomship clubs.
What about helping league 1 and league 2 clubs?
The bottom line is EVERY club and the vast bulk of fans are selfish….they want whatever system gives their club a better chance of success
But the problem is…..only 3 clubs can ever be promoted each year….and success has to be earned….its not an automatic entitled.
Wednesday fans are a great example…..they think they have an automatic entitlement to be in the PL.
The longest time United have been outside the top flight is 14 years, Wednesday are currently on a run of 25 years and don’t look like retuning anytime soon.
So their fans look for a scapegoat and blame the system. They argue they want fairness but they weren’t wanting fairness when they had the biggest budget in league 1. They don’t want fairness…….they want any system that allow that to be back in the PL.
Their current owner has gambled £150 million on SWFC and it’s not worked.
So they want him to walk away….so a new owner comes in to spend £150 million again.
If that doesn’t work….they want him to walk away…sell the club…so another owner can gamble £150 million.
If every club was gambling away large sums of money on transfers and salaries every season…there would be chaos.
I’ve even heard many SW fans saying FFP is holding back their club and they should be allowed to spend more and build up even bigger debts
But if their club went bankrupt owing £500 million, they’d be the 1st to demand sympathy wanting the £500 million debt to be written off by the tax man.
