This is a tough one. Do we vote for Hendrie, who was only an unused sub a couple of times in the 17 shirt or Coady who hasn't been at the club 5 minutes. Personally, I think sitting on the bench and being paid a huge whack gives Hendie the place...

This is a tough one.

Oh, no it isn't.

Of all the players we've ever signed in my time at the Lane, here is one who stands out as the biggest disapointment, given his age, past career and future potential. Should have been in his prime and ready to lead us to promotion . . . . .

It has to be noted other better players (i.e. Rush, Jimmy Johnstone, Withe) were better players but were already obviously over the hill by the time they arrived, this tool was washed up but shouldn't have been.

Quite - I remember that there was near unanimity that Hendrie was a really good signing.

Indeed. The difficulty is that we are judging Hendrie on this one, not for his crap play (he was no.11 when he played), but, on the month he was no.17 when he didn't actually play a game.

and his impact on the team would have been exactly the same!

I know Walthy has taken command of the c word in relation to our current manager. There are very few Blades, past or present, that I would inflict this word on. Hendrie is one of them.

Hendrie was, at least on paper, a brilliant signing with a good history. It's a shame he was only here for Bentley fuel and insurance money, because it sure as hell wasn't to play football. A massive disappointment.

Hendrie could/should have been good for us. Another quality midfielder passed by due to our tactics at this time.

Bit harsh on Coady but he hasn't shown anything other than a few wayward passes and pointless runs to impress me so far.

Thats bollox , hendrie was shit because he was unfit .it was bryan robson who signed him and his style of play was not direct football so im sorry but youre comment is just stupid

Not sure about fitness and yes he was signed by Robson. But didnt he lave halfway thorugh the season so at least 2/3 of his time with us was under Blackwell. And we all know how midfielders flourished under him.

His career was on the decline when he came to us but he was another good midfieder who Sheffield United didn't use to the best of their ability/potential, along with Howard who was here at the same time. All they got was sore necks!

Don't exacerbate the issue by draging FordyII into the equation.

Hendrie and Howard. Cunts! (Terry Curran, Paul Richardson, Helios, Tony Moores and Blackwell if you want me to name the whole set as alluded to in #6).

I can only assume you never saw him play for sufc as if you did you would be in no doubt of his fitness the rest of your post doesnt make sense , i dont know how long robson had hendrie but he signed hi and he was shit so you cant really blame Blackwell for that

Saw him quite a bit when he was with us.

You said Robson signed him and his style of play was not direct. I was just pointing out that most of the time Hendrie was here Robson was not in charge.

Can't blame Balckwell for him being shit, but surely his style of play that pretty much makes midfield obsolete can't help?

Is Blackwell responsible for the rest of his career then because he didnt exactly set the world alight when he escaped kevs clutches either did he .?
