Worst away end you've been in?

Yeah, that Swindon away end is poor. The one thing I like though is you can watch the cricket next door if the football's crap...

Yep, Springfield Lane, Wigan for me too. A few terraced steps and then a grass bank. I remember a VHS of Sunderland fans diving in the mud being shown on Soccer AM a few years ago.

Anywhere small where you can barely get a view above pitch level.

Difficult one as I haven't travelled much, but yes Hillsborough is up there. Obstructed views everywhere you sit.

Stoke is freezing in winter with it being on a hill.

But Gillingham for me. Fortunately it was summer, not that George Long helped matters tbh.

Watching the Gillingham v Portsmouth game on Sky reminds me how miserable the Priestfield away end is. Held up by scaffolding, the stand moves when you walk on it, no roof, it always seems to be cold and we always play shit there. Surely the worst away end in the League?!
Priestfield shocking for facilities but actually not a bad view. I'd take a view over facilities anytime so for me it's places like The old Den down Cold Blow Lane and Wimbledon's Plough Lane that rank high as worst grounds for away fans. Talking of Wimbledon, just remembered last season at Kingstonian. Only way could see there was sitting on a wheelie bin when the stewards left us alone.

Burnden Park, Bolton. Wasn't too bad the first time I went but on my next visit they'd decided to build a supermarket on half of the away end.

Old Oxford ground, Elm Park, standing in the Pigs cheese slice in the Zenith Data, no facilities and a death trap.

Always thought Boltons old ground was ok, Grimsby was pretty basic, but grounds these days aren't what they used to be.

Bring back the good old days on the Kop, getting snowed on while you was having a piss.

Elm Park, Reading was awful but I vote for Fratton Park Portsmouth either as a standing or seated area not helped by the boys and girls in blue supporting the home side. Midweek nights in winter when it rained were particularly bad.

Haven't been to many but need to mention in the 80s Ewood Park, just remember wondering where the toilets were and looking across to a shallow hillside with a small brick building which would take half a dozen people and seeing a river of piss flowing out of it, after that people just pissed up against it which was for the best.

Millmoor for me, must have been early on in the season in that shitty gold midas kit around 2001. Walking down that lane to get to the away end, no room at all. People pissing round the back of the stand due to around 3 bogs for the whole away end. No chance whatsoever of getting any refreshments in that dump.

Plymouth.
Only because it was freezing and daft cunt here left his coat in the hotel room and I'd got a polo shirt on.

I nearly cried.

I remember that, stewards kept moving people who climbed on the wall!

In no particular order ,
Oldham , the old ground ( not the palace it is now )
When it was cold there you fucking knew all about it .
Millwall the old den ,every second coach going through the arch got bricked , and fences fucking every where
Newport , fuck me what a hole ,
Carlise , a shed with a small shed ( very small for the jacks )
Doncasters old dump , an open end , then another open end .
Huddersfields open ended kip , Barnsleys open ended kip , particularly a wet night game fuck me don't forget to keep your heads down on the train for the bricks ,
A lot lot more , I could mention , but it's to frightening to remember them all .

Plymouth in the early 1980s was pretty poor. Seem to remember it being just an uncovered mud bank (perhaps my memory is exaggerating how bad it was). Wimbledon at Plough Lane in 1983-4 wasn't good either, but the fact that it rained all through the second half , I got absolutely drenched and we lost 3-1 didn't help.

Ha! I was at that one. Freezing fecking horizontal rain as well.

For me, Aldershot. A bloody tree growing in the middle of the terrace. Beat that

Gillingham for the facilities I guess.

Bristol Rovers is another one that sticks out as being awful.

I agree Bristol Rovers has very basic facilities, but therein lies the charm. Despite the obvious shortcomings it is ten times better than one of these new plastic grounds, miles from town with no atmosphere.

Give me the Memorial Stadium ahead of the likes of say the Weston Homes ground at Colchester.

HH

Brighton when they played at that temporary athletics ground and the entire away end was on scaffolding that moved around when we scored or jumped around. Derby's old baseball ground had character but the away end seemed to be entirely made of creaky old rotten wood that felt like it would either collapse or go up in flames at any moment.

:eek::eek:

I went to a night game at Aldershot, cup replay after a 0-0 at the lane. I remember it being foggy and only seeing up to the half way line, couldn't even see the goal they scored we just heard the Cheers, it was like walking through a park to get to your seat, trees everywhere  got back to sheff around 4 then work at 7. Bad times.
