work on kop to start

With all due respect to Peter's mum, the big problem with the Shoreham is not so much the pillars (although they do get in the way) as the lack of any decent facilities. What's needed is to knock it all down, level the site and then build a new stand with all the things people want underneath it, like somewhere pleasant to have a piss or buy a bag of chips. Plonking new seats on the old mound should only ever have been a temporary measure, and fans shouldn't be congregating on that concrete balcony in the rain at half time. They should be going into the bowels of the stand, in the warm, and sitting down watching TV till the second half starts.

Just seen someone asking Jim Phipps about it on Facebook - Telling him to knock it down, make it steeper and put extra leg room in. You know, all in a weekend or something...

Anyway, Jim's response was that we're not doing anything with the Kop until we're in the Premier League.

How many times can we keep renewing the planning application? This one's only for 5 years ;)

Of course it wont be done until we are in the PL, that's when we need it ............

As soon as there is some lolly floating around, Kev and his Builders Boys will be round in their Transit to resurface the Car Park, for a bit more than a pound ya know

A good question my Swizzy friend. The government changed the rules in 2012 and now any application made after that date, can’t be extend. The reason that the south stand outline app was extended was that it was approved in 2009 and carried a 5 year time limit. It won’t be extended again and neither will the kop application, so if the board have any intention of implementing either, they’d better get their skates on. Otherwise they’ll have to submit new full applications, along with any necessary costs and take the risk of the scheme getting knocked back if there have been any unfavourable changes to the local plan in the meantime.

Speculation. I do not think I'd invest in this plan, but in any case we aren't doing any major stadium improvements till we're solidly in the Prem.

By that time I hope it's back to ALL STANDING

THINK OF THE FECKING NOISE !

...Or, as I suspect you know, they could just dig a hole in the car park in 5 years time and say they've started the work... ;)

Forget it. The Kops not going any higher until the team gets its pathetic league performance off the ground and we are threatening the Pl.

If we don't go up this season think princey will lose interest then cut and run without spending loads on a stadium to stand 50% empty.

Will be pleasantly surprised if new pitch materialises this summer, hope grass isn't to long our half our squad will struggle.

That new pitch has been on order for 12 months...don't think there's any backing out now.

Jim as practically said its a non story. Says was designed before they came on board, maybe they ain't keen on th design and want to do it their way

I'm not an architect, design engineer or a builder but removing the pillars would be madness, madness I tell you. The roof would fall off. Oh, the horror ;)

The structural work to remove the columns in a feasibility study , concluded it would cost as much as building the proposed new kop with corporate boxes at the back.

The professional fees for all this malarky would be in the region of £1m . Better spent on a good CF imo . If we reach the premiership and consolidate ourselves there , then the work would be reviewed in depth.

Renewing the planning permission is just standard procedure and good governance.

Forget the ground , it is already more than good enough for league 1 and the championship , if and when we get there.

Bigger fishes to fry , in getting out of shit league 1 , preferably this season . If we have a number of more seasons in this division , never mind ground improvements , we will not have a pot to piss in.

its not the way forward though not to improve , if we get to the prem another 4000 seats at 500 for a season ticket in 3 years is 2.5 million quid

we just failed last time by the skin of our teeth to stay up so margins like that could mean one place higher if it gets one more player

See my post above, who pays?

the club , we do have money , we spent our max by league rules and contrary to some negativity from some the prince is putting in the money , we do need a team but we will need the capacity too , in time

they might tweek the original plans but I think our board would like some nice new offices and more income streams , on site

I thought my post was a bit funnier. :D

3 sides of the Lane are really good. The kop however is poor. From the outside it looks like a non- league stand.

There's also a lot of dead land behind the Kop (read: unidentified slag heap).

Think the club have been granted planning to develop that land as student flats last year.

Easy, I am an engineer and the solution is sky hooks!

it has to be renewed every 5 years or it would be a waste of money in the 1st place. leave it as it is till we are in the prem. i dont think we want to be rattling round in a half empty stadium. its currently not cost effective and will dull down the atmosphere. maybe if they want more fans in we could tell syp to fuck off with there stupid, completely over the top segregation.

With regard to your OP where did it say anywhere that work was going to start on rebuilding the Kop ???
We dont need a 38k seater stadium in L1 or even the Championship
You say above IF we get to the Prem its a very big IF could take a long time
With regard to maths having 4k extra ST holders generating £2.5m over 3 years is hardly a game changer in the scheme of things when you get £60m for getting there
