I've come to the conclusion that some former Blade's got stick because they were here, there and everywhere.
I know that not everyone will agree, but John Gannon ? anyone? He always put in a full shift, there were sideways passes, but IMO he was a vital part of the engine room. He never received the praise that his commitment deserved IMO. DONKEY or WORKHORSE?
Who are the others who so divided opinion?
Sorry but it is some time since I was able to see and form my own views. I always felt that J.G. got the shitty end of the stick.
So if J.G. was the work horse, who, if any were/are/have been the Blackpool sands lot?

I loved Gannon. When he got his name sang on the last day of the 90-91 season home game he was genuinely shocked as well as touched. Couple of cracking goals that season as well. I remember him taking a penalty and missing (Southampton) that wouldve given Booker a hattrick.... of course he was reviled for denying him the chance

Gannon's passes which led (indirectly) to Dane's goal at the Lane and (directly) to Bobby Davison's 2nd at the sty against the piglets were moments of quality which assure him a warm place in this Blade's heart. I thought he was a cracking player, remember his lob v Bradford and volley v Forest as well, great technique

Monty not fit to lace his boots

That applies to virtually every player we've ever had though.

Don't know what Bassett has to do with Fordy though NYB. It was Colin who had him as "first on the team sheet" every week until Tongue came and relieved us all of the pain.

Monty and Ford. Donkey NOT workhorse I'm afraid.

Bobby Ford scored the first goal I'd ever seen us score against Wednesday at the Lane. I won't have a bad word said about him!

Gannon scored an absolute beauty against Forest away as did Zico Lake if memory serves me right.

Nick Montgomery & Michael Doyle - both did/do a good job for us

Not many will agree, but Monty was a modern-day Gannon but we must have a whipping boy.

Yeah but Monty couldn't pass.

He could tackle, win the ball and then kindly pass itto the opposition. So exactly like Doyle really but he just became part of the furniture under Warnocks time in charge so people have a soft spot for Monty. Loyalty or as I see it failure to secure a move a way from the club made him even more likeable for some reason.

John Gannons corners wouldnt go amiss at the minute!
David essex in football boots!!

Having Google looks like Nigel spackman's time, though it was Warnock who never dropped. I stand corrected.

Yes, Clever Neil played Michael Brown on the left wing for a full season or more in order to accommodate Bobby's mediocrity.

Bring him back.
