Don't panic ..............................it could be a McCabe owned company !

Do you think we lost out on Season Ticket sales because of it?

Any Season Ticket campaign would've had a marketing campaign with it, so its a matter of whether the 'True Blades' Campaign had a detrimental effect on the sales, but 10,000 suggests not

Well, the blurb certainly makes you think of a word that rhymes with Front.

Why?

The majority (99% I would suggest) of season tickets would be sold with absolutely fuck all marketing. It's based on price/what happens on the pitch, not some fanciful marketing bullshit.

The real questions are:

1. How much did it cost?
2. How many tickets did it sell?

If 1 > 2 then it's a waste. If 2 > 1 then it's all been worthwhile.

Anyone want to start this month's 145th poll to find out the answer?

No need at all for season ticket marketing campaigns other than that done by the club through normal channels - ie send usual remidners out. No need for flyers or catchphrases - no impact at all on numbers in my opinion so therefore a straight loss of cash. You think it attracetd people who otherwise wouldn't have bothered?

You must be a bit of an idiot if you consider this important at this moment in time

I'm sorry I can't continue, I'm deeply upset at this vicious post. Linz - this is a formal complaint. PS - bring back Lenners.

This thread is straight out of the len handbook but I agree, I can't believe the flyers etc actually convinced anyone to buy one and as such, a complete waste. If anything, suggesting that you're only a True Blade if you buy a season ticket will have pissed off a few.

I asked if we lost out on sales because its been implied that it was a bad campaign (by many on here), so that would assume that we'd have lost Season Ticket sales because of it, because its obviously beyond the realms of possibility that we could've actually increased potential sales because of this.

As for the majority of Season Ticket Sales being made without this campaign, some yes, but not the majority, because you forget that the marketing is also distributing the price lists etc and getting the printing done. So most people would need reminding of these things before committing to £300+ expenditure

Ask Uncle Richard, he's the voice of the fans....unless he's scraping shit stains out of the back of the bog bowls on the kop that is

All of that is part of the "marketing campaign" otherwise it would just be a slogan ;)

I am guessing we all received similar 'flyers' last year which didn't have 'true blade' on it and didn't seem to be a problem then. The True Blade campaign was aimed at keeping current and ones lost in the previous season. Seems to me that the only people who are more upset are of course MicaLen and people who live outside the city who weren't season ticket holders anyway.

Plenty of examples of you losing your marbles on here - this post being one of em.

We will have paid em for the catchphrase. I didn't forget, please re-read and digest my post - I said we would have normal costs reminders - but why pay for a daft catchphrase?

Just cannot believe you think people need reminding via expensive brochures and catchphrases of the chance to buy a season ticket - utter madness.

I'm not upset at all - I just find it laughable that Birch and his cronies couldn't come up with somat 'in-house'. Yes there'd be the usual priniting and posatge costs but it's justa total waste of money imo. we sold 10k because 10k want to watch SUFC next term.

It certainly did. Some brainbox marketeer paid a ridiculous sum to draw diagrams on a flip chart and push pens around will have come up with that.....having no idea about the culture of the club or its fans. I would never waste my time or money on these type of firms to market my business. Anyone with reasonable business acumen and knowledge of their market knows how to sell without all that bollocks.

Think any true Blade would have been upset by that slogan, it's against what the club has always been. We've always been a hardy bunch, and in the main we've always turned out in numbers but to suggest, in the current climate, that you aren't a true Blade if you don't buy a season ticket is a disgrace.

Nope, I wouldn't want to disturb him from hand drier duties in the ladies and the issue of stale bread for the hot-dogs.

Can you offer evidence that we would have sold 10000 season tickets next year. As a guy who sends out literature I can promise you that the campaign would have gained more than it would have lost. The True Blade got people talking, whether in a good or bad way. Certainly good marketing under our current climate.

As a guy who receives literature, I can tell you that such bollocks would have found it's way straight into the re-cycle bin.

I thought it was a good campaign, as a lapsed ST holder at the time, the fact that they offered discounted deals to me as well, convinced me to part with the best part of a grand and re-renew 4 STs for Clan BladeHearts.

You're gonna have to explain that one to me Swiss please.

It apparently wasn't a campaign BladeHearts it was a slogan that put people off buying and cost the club money, so can you change your post to state that you had a bad day, got drunk and lost a bet whereby you ended up with 4 season tickets. When you sobered up you knew you'd done wrong :)

The point I'm trying to make - which let's be honest is amazingly simple to grasp - is that Birch and his cronies could have made that offer to you without paying 'Front' a no doubt 5 figure sum to also come out with the True Blade nonsense.

Correct - we paid money for a slogan as part of a campaign which was totally unecessary and also attracted widespread criticism. What are you on about it wasn't a campaign?

Sure there is the stuff about all publicity is good publicity but you are totally wrong imo to think that a football club needs to attract its customers in such a way. We all know roughly when we need to buy a season ticket if we want one and can easily find out.

Given that the owner of the company is a fan, and knowing how SUFC work*, it wont have cost a lot (if anything at all).

*Its usually the 'we'll give you the work if you buy a box for the season' kind of line.

If in fact the club did hire a marketing company for that then yes, I totally 100% agree with you.

There's something.....SCB agrees with mic!

i think this true blade bollocks has upset a lot of people actually.. it certainly pissed me off.. as a blade of 40 years standing i don't need some prick in london to decide whether i am a fan or not thank you very much
