Arguably this is going to be the Blades toughest game of the season. While they should have beaten both Manchester United and Spurs, having played them whilst their opponents were in inconsistent form, Wolves are in red hot form.
A stuttered start to the season saw Wolves not win until the seventh match of the season and there has been no looking back for Espirito Santo Amen's men, resulting in them leapfrogging the in form Blades in the table, whilst beating Man City away from home.
Both teams are undefeated in their last 6 matches and Wolves have only picked up 3 more points than the Blades in this period.
Wolves strength is in their attack where they have scored 18 goals with Raul Jimenez contributing 6 of these, though 2 of these have come courtesy of the penalty spot. However, their willingness to commit forwards has left them vulnerable and they have conceded 16 goals, keeping only 2 clean sheets all season. That said Wolves have only failed to score in one match all season and that was an opening day draw against Leicester.
At home Wolves have been indifferent but are undefeated in three. They have only kept one clean sheet for their efforts and have conceded as many goals as they have scored. Once more Jimenez has been the hero at home with 3 goals, but again 2 of these were the penalties.
Wolves are a side who are capable of scoring goals both home and away and are in great form at the moment and will attack their opponents from the first whistle and are more than capable of scoring. They have had the rub of the green with winning penalties, opponents getting sent off and scoring own goals. It would not surprise me if VAR rears it's ugly head with it's partner in crime, controversy.
The Blades are currently undefeated in six having drawn four and won two, keeping 3 clean sheets along the way. The red hot Lys Mousset has scored 3 and gotten 4 assists in this period and John Fleck has scored 2 and gotten 1 assist as well, whilst starting to really knuckle down as the driving force in midfield. The Blades were incredibly unlucky not to record back to back wins against Spurs and Man Utd but were left licking their wounds as both matches ended in draws. The Blades are starting to find the net regularly having scored 7 in their last 3 matches.
Away from home the Blades continue to be stubborn. They are undefeated all season but have only picked up the one solitary win against Everton. They have scored 7 in their last 6 away games and conceded 5, though they have kept 2 clean sheets in this time. Mousset is their leading scorer with 2 goals and they were unlucky not to have scored another and picked up a win against Spurs, but for a ridiculous VAR decision. In that game they showed their mental health in not letting their heads drop after undeservedly going behind, and then having one chalked off before equalising. As the game against Man Utd showed, this team does not sulk, does not give up and keeps going to the end home or away, no matter who they face.
This will be a very tough game as an in form home team meets an in form away team. One full of goals and the other stubbornly resilient. With the way Wolves seem to get the rub of the green with big decisions and the Bladed putting everything into tackles and challenges, I have a nasty feeling that players will be going down under any contact in the box and a controversial decision could prove to be the deciding factor in the end result.
