Looking a wednedsay cup record it is pretty poor considering they were a premier league club for so long & had 5 more championship years. Because since the 1993 semi final. Tonight was only the 6th time theyve reached the 5th round (& 1 QF in 96/97) Whereas beat Preston & it will be our 9th time in the 5th round weve got 2 semis to show for it

Wednesday were very lucky in that Swansea came in for Carlos.

Had that not happened, it's quite possible that he'd have been managing the Owls tonight...assuming they'd got past Carlisle.

Bearing in mind the season he'd had at Hillsborough, the odds of a PL club coming in for him were long.

Plus we have depth now. At the Sty we just about cobbled a team together last minute. Even then Brooks was seen as a makeshift forward.

For the league matches in between we have Holmes, Leonard and Evans to keep fresh.

It might give Billy a third bite at them and you could have Leon inflicting more damage, Ched maybe back. Brooks back. We’d have some serious options.

Freeman would be back as well so roatation wouldn’t be an issue.

I’d love another derby. Bumper crowd, excitement, additional buzz for the players in league games, tv money.

But let’s get past Preston first. We need home advantage to bring this one home.

Things have come full circle for the pigs after studying the modus operandi of their superior neighbours. They are now carrying some MOMENTUM from their series of 0-0 wins. On top of that with the new manager and all, they are playing with some PASHUN. Instead of playing their overpaid superstars, they have turned to their PUB LEAGUE players such as Niuhu. The only way they can ruin all this is by getting carried away as usual and claiming they are MASSIVE again after beating Reading reserves.

Beat me to it. Along with the 2 League Cup semis since then, that's 6 cup runs to a semi-final in 25 years, which is remarkable considering we have only been in the top flight for 2 seasons in that time. Two of those cup runs were while we were in League 1 as well. I'd love to draw them at home next round and fucking murder them. Then get utterly mullered away at Chelsea in the quarters.
