We need 2 wingers in before the transfer window closes!

Prioritise:
  • Tanganga
  • Mee
  • CDM

But we need options as RS seems focused on pushing his total football agenda whether it is working or not. Cannon is being hung out to dry on the wing. Brooks looks out of form and has been negative in his play.

So who is out there and within our reach? Realistically 1 of the 2 wingers need to be established at this level and a stating 11 player, the other to push Barry.

Ramanzani not in the Leeds squad at the weekend

Should have signed Dolan on a free. But maybe that was just too obvious

Manhoef seems like a good option if within a certain price point

I'd take Callum Lang from Portsmouth, who has a year left on his contract. Presumably being right footed disqualifies him though

Could do far worse than play Seriki there.

He was originally a winger before being converted to a full-back/wing-back.

Or just forget about trying to crack a nut with a sledgehammer and pick a system around those you’ve got rather than those you haven’t.

Play hamer on the right, had one of his best games there last season can't remember who it was against but I think he scored from a long diag from Jackie long throw and chested it down and finished beautifully with the outside of his foot

Great shout. Considering his pace he's looked pretty overwhelmed the past couple of games and may enjoy the freedom as a short term option.

RS does seem absolutely set on playing the 443 formation regardless of who he has available to him

If I was sat opposite Selles right now I would suggest a LB on loan and consider moving burrows up and trying Barry up front for a few games

Campbell is struggling in this system right now, if he starts to get it then you can alternate Barry and Burrows on left

Must be something we don't see in training to why Seriki doesn't play on the wing as a midfielder under two managers. Then again we know Cannon is shit without seeing training.

Let’s not forget we are playing and relying on 4 players from our Accademy and Bidon.

For me….
Peck not good enough sell
Seriki keep and use this season
Brooks good enough but let him on loan where he will get games
One not living up to his appearance, ditto Brooks, loan out
Bindon nit going to make it here especially now Zatterstroum and Tanganga are here/almost here

Wingers are always a bit of a hit or miss. You have to accept that if you have a winger that runs at the full back that some time, even maybe the majority of the time, they will not beat them, its the times they do that you are playing them for. It might be only 2 or 3 times a game and therefore you they have to have a good final ball and you have to take your chances. If you don't want to accept this and want to play keep ball then don't play wingers. What you can't do us play the likes of Cannon and Oné as wingers because they are not wingers.

We don’t need wingers.

The obsession with wingers is exactly that - an obsession.

We have had it previously with big target men.

It didn’t work. It doesn’t work. Let it go.

Our wide players are inverted. Right footed player on the left, left footed player on the right. Very few teams use out and out wingers anymore. There is a reason !!

Barry is right footed and playing on the left wing. He will therefore mainly cut in rather than get past his man and cross. Andre Brooks is left footed playing on the right, so you have the same from him. Defenders will simply push them wide knowing thy are less effective if they can't cut in. It is the modern way to play these so called inverted wingers. I would like to see them swap sides, not permanently but within a game. It would to an extent unsettle defenders.

Good post.

2 or 3 times a game SHOULD NOT be an acceptable strategy. Not even close.

Great minds 😂😂.

Spot on.

We don't need wingers, we have 2 perfectly serviceable wingbacks who can provide the width.

Yeah. Maybe someone should ask Selles whether he’s ever considered that opposing managers might just have got this inverted shit figured out with the old cut in crowd em out strategy. Fucking clueless.

Would work perfectly fine if we had professional footballers that could use both feet. Being a pro footballer and unable to use both feet is pretty poor (especially if you're not good enough to keep the defender guessing).

It also works when you cut in and shoot as soon as youve created space (or quick 1 2 and other players moving and making runs behind).

Barry looks to cut in and from last season would shoot often, it seems he opts for the pass instead with us currently and the only other player we have on the pitch that will shoot on sight is Hamer and it seems this style and set up doesnt suit him.

Selles wants to play with wingers while he's here they aren't going away

We don't need anymore wingers, Selles is set up to play football on the ground, lumping it up to Campbell is a waste of time, Barry can tuck into the middle with Hanmer and O'Hare in support once the defence is sorted we need to get Soumare involved and take the weight off Peck who could do with a break imo, the defeat at brum wasn't helped by a poor back pass and 2 poor passes from RND against Bristol, you can't blame the manager for that
