Wilson Out ! Wilson In !
We all know that he's there until the end of the season
However Mr Wilson the time has arrived - you must stand up and be counted.........................
I and many other Blades don't want to be listening to or reading this...
Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"If you perform as we did today, you don't expect to get much out of thgame. I thought for large parts of the game we were a shadow of ourselves.
"We looked fairly nervous and anxious at times. Maybe we have to change our style of play slightly to suit the pitch.
"It's not very often you'll hear me say this, but we were not at the races today and we were second best in too many areas.
"We didn't deserve a great deal today.

You are the manager, it's your side, you brought in most of the players, oversee training, oversee tactics - If you can't motivate the players do the honourable thing and walk away - if you think you can ignite their passion, get them playing and getting them to put in maximum effort week in week out - then do it!
We have been second best far too many times this season - either change things or ship out!

Wilson seems a dour figure and his side reflects this.. much as warnock used to annoy the crap out of me at least he showed some passion at times like this.. yesterday he would have been apopleptic

What else do you expect him to say ? Isn't most of what he said true ?

What if wilson had gone the other way and said, we were unlucky to day , we did'nt get the rub of the green, with the chances we created, etc etc. The fans would rightly give him flack, I think by what he was saying last night was pointing the finger at the players and letting them know it were'nt good enough through the media. We as fans know the difference between a pinch a shite and a pinch a gold. Every team loses, its how you lose if the team had given 100% and lost to a flucky o.g we would'nt have liked it but at least they would have tried, and we could except that. But not trying an gettin beat that gets right on my man boobs, cause then there saying fuck you in my book.UTB.

I do not expect him to be put in that position by his team full stop!
He is the manager, tactician and motivator !
and yes most of it is true so he should sort it! He is the manager

And I'm sure that his planning and teams planning was for a better performance. I'm talking generally, not just yesterday.

In the last 24 hrs I've read so many comments on here distancing the positives from Danny and piling up the negatives against him. One even said the only reason we made the playoffs was because of Ched, not Wilson. Yet Danny Wilson got us playing fantastic football last season, albeit with some weaknesses as weren't physical enough at times.

This season we haven't seen the flowing attacking football, we've lost several players who were key to the way we played, this season two of those key players that remain - Doyle and Cresswell, have aged considerably! Or are just out of form.

It's not excuses, just the difference. But he doesn't seem to have the players now to play that way. A few weeks ago, we looked like we had found a Ched type player in miller, but he's out for the season, so new faces are coming in.

For me it's a blip and it's not panic stations, ride the storm, back the club. Back the manager. Back the team. Back the individual players.

We're having bad games, bad individual performances but getting at them and quoting lines of a post match interview or looking at how the manager stands on the sidelines won't really give an insight into his character.

Agree with bart and dublin. We used to complain to buggery about Warnock, Blackwell, Speed etc saying how unlucky we'd been when we'd played crap. Wilson truthfully said we were rubbish and gets criticized.

OK, it's his problem to sort but what he said was spot on.

Yes we were rubbish and he holds his hand up. What about Doncaster a derby where we were out battled for the majority of t he game, Hartlepool, Crewe just off the top of my head.

I know we have been shit in all of those games, I don't need Danny to tell me that.. I need him to do something about it and if that means dropping some of his under performers he has to.

great post but is it just a blip swiss.. we've been shit all year tbh.. i hope you are right but i'm starting to become disillusioned
the thing that bugs me is that we get all this wah wah about how we've lost ched and williamson and how we can't play expansive football anymore because we can't afford it and then yeovil and crewe average attendances 3000 come and play us off the park with proper football

Having slept on it, it's obvious to me that to keep Wilson in place would be foolish.

Forget automatic. Forget play-offs. We're heading for mid-table at best (with a few drubbings along the way). Next season will be ground zero and another 'period of stabilisation' to prevent even further downward progress.

I base this on seeing all the home games this season and yesterday was not a 'blip', it has been coming all season. Hartlepool and Yeovil didn't just beat us, they out-played us. And this gives the lie to the perennial 'we've got no money'/'we've had injuries'. Every team gets injuries and have Hartlepool and Yeovil got more money than us?

We can't afford to waste another four months. This season can still be salvaged. But not with Wilson in charge.

Any change of manager is a gamble, but keeping Wilson (who clearly cannot influence affairs) is a banker lose.

So who else? Couldn't do worse than put Morgs in. Knows the players, knows the set-up. And has the much-needed passion. O'Driscoll may be worth a punt.

Slag away if you wish. Keeping DW is no longer an option, and he'll be gone in summer anyway, so better to act now.

But what are we trying to achieve? Promotion or free flowing football awards... Of which there are non.

I'm not making excuses for the style of play, I feel it's as much because we have a very poor back four that we went back to basics as much as it was losing Ched. The back four/ five need games together.

But as for the football, could it be that when teams come to the lane they either shut up shop or go at us? They also get a buzz from playing in front of 20,000 instead of 3,000... Again it's not an excuse. Just wondering why we do better at home.

So resolution number two is born...

1. Never watch united sober again
2. Never watch united at home

If Wilson drops the poor performing players, as a means to give them a "wake up call", who does he replace them with?

He may introduce some of the younger players but they have no experiance, and the next few games are crucial. A couple of losses in the next month and we will be out of touch with the top three or four.

I think it is harsh to point the finger at Wilson alone. The team yesterday looked good on paper, the players just didn't perform. It seems that teams which press and get at our players, stop us playing and we have no answers.

The players have to do more, if they really want to get out of this division.

HH

You could argue that we've been a false position.

Given the disappointment of last season, the loss of Ched, Willo, Squinny and Lowton (around 60 goals and numerous assists), I was amazed that we managed to find ourselves where we did before Xmas. OK, the League is crap and any half decent, consistent team should do well but we have a much changed team and have lost key players so even now, to be where we are could be considered a pretty good achievement.

Everyone wanted us to shed the long ball crap, bring in our own youngsters, not over rely on has beens and we've done all those things, OK, with a forced hand in some cases but they've been done nevertheless.

A blip, maybe, is this as good as we are, probably not as the season overall has shown but we have had to change the team recently, the stability in defence has been disrupted again, we have lost Miller when it looked like he was settling in, Murphy has come in but will need time, Blackman has still only played 70 odd games in his career etc etc

The odd crap result is inevitable and we've had two on the trot at home and were lucky to pick up anything at Donny but time will tell. DW has done a great job this season IMO trying to keep the same principles going given what's happened and the resources available and talk of him going is ridiculous. We were crap yesterday, as he said, but we move on.

The comments from Wilson were spot on. We were awful and Yeovil deserved the win. Would you want him to come out and say we were unlucky... Because we weren't, we were shite

Not if they are of the calibre of SOD

If Wilson was a proper manager he wouldn't have been talking to Radio Sheffield he would have been with the players locked in the dressing room giving them a round of phucks. The sooner he is sacked the better.

He might have done that before he spoke to Radio Sheffield

Well he didn't do it for long enough then ;)

He isn't the shouter (well, not regularly) in the setup anyway, that's the job of Frank Barlow and Morgs.

If you were a proper supporter you would be at Bramall lane not sat at home whacking one off everytime we concede a goal.

And if he were at Bramall Lane half the forum would be telling him to piss off to the Sty/Mhall.

Fuck knows what Danny said at half time. I can only imagine it was 'more of the same lads'

He's more than entitled to an opinion, but carries far less weight than someone who was there. Which is why telling other people their view is wrong, sticks in the craw somewhat. Surely you can understand that? Or is it time to trot out the 'Bigger Blade' line?

I'm sorry but people are slagging Wilson off for not being vocal enough on the touch line and then in the next breath clamouring for O'Driscoll, one of the dullest men on the planet. I might be wrong, but didnt he manage to keep his Notts Forest team, complete with Gregg Halford, Billy Sharp, Andy Reid and Jermain Jenas out of the play off positions? That's quite an achevement in itself.

Don't get me wrong, yesterday was absolutely dog shit, just like a number of other performances this season have been, but I think some people think it's a simple case of we get rid of the manager, get the next miracle worker in and we sail on up the league.

Having seen the absolutely diabolical level of "quality" on show in this division, anything other than winning the league is failure in my eyes, but I just can't see that sacking Wilson is going to help us in achieving success. I don't know what he answer is, it isn't my job to, but I don't think getting rid of the bloke who has done all he can to introduce the playing style 99% of the fans wanted to see is the way forward.

Simple

We'll not win the league under pig boy

This just proves how clever you are..

Spot on, we've done the managerial merry go round for years now and look where it's got us. There are no miracle workers out there, and even if there were then they wouldn't be queuing up to work at the Lane. We're skint, we're in a shite league and we don't have a great squad, even a miracle worker would struggle with that set up.

Wilson's going nowhere whether you like it or not so get used to another few months of ups and downs, hold onto your bollocks and hope that we do enough to get an automatic spot or we're knackered. The teams around us are just as good/bad as we are and there'll be times when they lose games they're expected to win too so sorry lads, I'm certainly not a fan of the ex Pig but we're stuck with him so get used to it.

One thing that does bother me is when he gives us all the reasons why we get beat but offers no solutions. I'd much prefer him to at least give us hope that he has a Plan B (a Plan A would have been nice last 2 home games) rather than leave us wondering if he has no idea what to do about the shit that's being served up on a regular basis way too often again.

Oh dear, I guess I ruffled a few feathers, rather than coming out with the usual abuse and I'm a bigger blade lines why don't some of you who think Danny is so good back up that argument and tell us your reasons for believing Danny will turn it round. Maybe it is just a whole lot easier to fire abuse at somebody who has a different view, don't know about me whacking one off when we concede a goal the only wankers seen here are you lot.

I suppose I will get a PM for abuse now seems they only go out to people with a certain view point.
