Wilson for Donaldson?

Everyone could see it was a mistake.

He has only just joined us yet he gets to come on ahead of everyone else.

Nobody around me. Donaldson was poor, Wilson was brought on to try and add some pace in behind them.

Just me who disagreed with this?
Said in the thread in rumour mill about him that seeing his highlights he didnt look like the right player for us. Said he seems to be more of a link up player that comes short, we need someone to run in behind. And I think it showed tonight that Wilson was linking up but not doing much else. Only had 20 mins tho. So not judging him yet. However with loovens being sent off I would have kept Donaldson on another ten minutes to stretch the defence

If Stevens hadn’t got a touch on that cross near the end, then Wilson was waiting with an easy chance to score. Would have been 1-0.

Very very odd sub choice , thought Billy would be a sure thing to replace don , dare I say it but does anyone else think Cw was contempt with the draw ?( for the first time ever ) we were so so slow and predictable going forward and were crying out for something else new

I think he wanted to not lose more than he wanted to win this time around, which I think is understandable as they were still threatening.. but either leave Donaldson on who was causing some problems or put Sharp on

Can any of us honestly say we’d be more happy to have gone for it and lost? I can’t, I don’t want to lose to the pigs

Jose’ muriniho made that substitution... a huge fuck up from wilder..he was bollox..

Leonard for Duffy should have been the move, then sharp for Clark, Donaldson was causing them all sorts of shit...

Baffling substitutions....

No complaints. Wilson looked really useful & clever. Once he's properly integrated & gets more accustomed to other players' movements (& they get clued up about him), he'll be a hell of an asset IMO.
Wilson had one of the few shots on target in the second half.
I'm sure we will finish in the playoffs with this squad.... the pigs however :p:p:p

Wow what an anti football team they are. They really are a poor footballing outfit and their pre season predictions of us and their grandeur are even poorer.

12 points behind the pub team :D:D:D

CW has made some great positive substitutions this season.

This one didn't really work.

Nothing to see here folks, move along now please.

Yeah, I loved the fact that he took that shot on (even if it went straight down the keeper's throat). Backed himself. In fact, generally, he looked super-confident from the moment he came on.

Same goes for John Lundstram - two shots, both of which were garbage, but had the bollocks to go for it (even if it meant making himself look foolish).

We need goals from range adding to our arsenal (including from free-kicks).

Genuinely gutted for Sharp. Probably why I would be a wank manager, no room for sentiment.... just cant believe he wasn't given the chance.

Really happy with 4 points off them. Think the fact the derby’s are out of the way only helps us push forward. Just a horrible distraction. I hope we get promoted or they get relegated just so we dont have it again! Dont need the stress. So happy for the 4 points but they build up kills me.

I said in the shoutbox that it was a good move when he came on. Reality was that nothing was really happening up there. However, Donaldson seemed to have more movement than Clarke. Clarke having been marked out of the game (credit to pig CB)

It was a strange one as the sub had already been readied and whilst Wilson coming on was a smart move (pace, movement, ability to turn the game), when Loovens got his red it was clear they'd defend deeper and perhaps we needed to bring in Billy as well.

Surely Wilson's main attribute is his pace and ability to run in behind and stretch teams? Not often I disagree with Chris Wilder but I felt Sharp was the most appropriate change. At a time when the opposition were happy to sit on the edge of their own penalty box and deny space in behind there were limited opportunities for Wilson to use his pace. Sharps ability to get on the end of balls into the box in the final third should have seen him enter the fray.

Agreed, and added to that Sharp can actually deliver a half-decent cross – a couple in front of the Kop where he’s delivered far post for Clarke to head home. After the red we had too many occasions where whoever was overlapping wasn’t used – I think at this stage, taking perhaps Stevens off for Sharp and going 4-3-3 with him and Donaldson either side of Clarke would have been a better option without leaving us too open at the back.

I think that when teams turn up and sit really deep, like Wednesday did, then a forward who drops a bit deeper is going to be needed. I thought for much the game yesterday Donaldson and Clarke were isolated.

Didn't think Wilson did much last night, but there were a few times later on, when he dropped deep picked the ball up ran at the penalty area and tried to get a shot off. Wendy didn't know what to do, because their tactics don't work against that play

I think we should accept the fact that Billy is on the wane. He's been a great servant - particularly in this third spell with us - but I couldn't see him getting much if he'd come on last night. (Yes, it's all about service and Donaldson and Clarke got very little last night - we resorted to hopeful hoofs upfield and I think we're far too thin 'up top').

My opinion is that Billy is kept around purely for dressing-room morale purposes. Very sad, but probably true.
