Why would you not? It's not going to be often you'll get to see United in with a chance of winning something; that plate for 2nd place in the Championship really doesn't count.

Might be the only silverware I'll ever see - same thought I have every time we go there or to a semi. I know it hurts when we inevitably fail to turn up, but missing out would hurt more.

There's nearly a dozen City fans in my cricket club - with one exception the only people who didn't go to the FA Cup final couldn't get a ticket for love or money. The exception needed something to take his mind off it - if he'd gone, or even so much as thought about what was happening I reckon he'd have burst a major blood vessel before half-time.

The only reason for missing any final is that the experience would be too unpleasant regardless of the result.

After the last Play off final debarcle, i'll find it difficult to attend and if its on TV, I might just head off to my gaff in Cyprus and get the lads out there on the lash instead.

I'd hope that we're concentrating on getting out of this hell hole of a division rather than worrying about this crappy cup

I have mixed emulsions over this thread, itd be walking on egg shells to claim its of any note, itd only gloss over other things ,
its a competition made for Matt Herriot you could say , we,ll need some good preparation , and as its played in early march dont go without an undercoat, to Wembley
we should brush most teams aside, but dont expect them to roller over,but if we lose to some poor team will lose dis temper of mine.

I'm offered free executive tickets for the final of this each year in The Bobby Moore suite as my partners' mother works within the upper echelons of PPG, the manufacturers of Johnstone's. They start bringing the free bucket's of chilled Lager out at around 10am so it's usually some day.

I imagine watching The Blades with endless amounts of free beer in my bucket-esque leather seat would be substantially more enjoyable than the usual Carlise's and Luton's. This was the only consolation thought to our relegation for me. So a resounding YES!

Have to think long and hard about another miserable trip to Wembley for POF or a cup match.
Getting ripped off and the ball ache to get there makes watching any event like that on the telly more and more attractive.

Dont think that can happen as the competition is split Northern area and southern area. So we could meet at the Northern area final which is played home and away.

Sod that anyway concentrate on winning the League and taking 6 points off the piggies

I'l go to the early rounds so why not wembley! A northern final versus the other lot would be interesting.. We could actually have 9 derby days including cups and poffs.. Could be a season to remember!

Having the Unique record of having lost a Playoff Final at Old Wembley, the Millenium, and New Wembley, all in the Championship, we need to build on this.

Losing a Division 3 Playoff would put us on the Road to the First team to lose Playoff Finals in all 3 Divisions.

Add to this, never having scored a Goal in a Playoff Final, and we have also lost a 2 Legged Final on our own Ground.

This is something McCabe and Family can build on .......

That approach is likely to attract more interest and bigger crowds as well.

Good idea, but could lead to us going out in one of the early rounds. Realistically promotion is the only goal for next season. Anything else is a distraction, although won't do a lot for morale if we do go out early.

Can't remember the exact rule but I think at least 6 players who played in the previous first team fixture have to be included in the team (or is it matchday squad?) for all JPT games so wholesale changes are very difficult.

Easy. I suppose it depends on how old you are and what the stadium, and indeed club, means to you.

When I was a kid the only game you got to see live on TV was the FA Cup Final. The only other way to experience football was to get off your arse and go to a ground.
The FA Cup final was the climax and highlight of the season. Coverage started at 10 or 11 am and went on for ever (or at least until the lid twat had been interviewed swigging from his bottle of milk). As such Wembley was the promised land. I have dreamt of us competing in the game all my life. Indeed I still do!
Over the years the Wembley thing has been diluted enormously (FA Cup semis, Mediocrity Bowl finals etc.), but in my mind I won't have seen United play there "properly" until they appear in a major final (and the Pigs having won the League Cup it now has to be the FA Cup).

Going to see us try and get into a Cup Final or go up a division is one thing, turning up for a completely meaningless and useless cup, where the entry qualification is that you are SHIT is another altogether. If that is the best we manage before I pass on then so be it, I certainly won't be there to see it.
