Will we sell out?

Did we sell put Cardiff and Wembley for the Burnley game? Strange if we've lost fans

Yes we sold out both.

For the Burnley game Wembley gave us an extra 1.5K tickets, so we ended up taking 38K, more than what Burnley got.

I suppose we have a lot of battle weary fans with PTSD, after every Wembley you always get a few saying “never again”.

Let’s be honest here all our big games (apart from Hull in the semi when we lost 5-3) have been non events where the fans had nothing to cheer and no even a goal.

This drives me mad, every time I go to buy tickets I’m left with either outskirts of Kop or bramall lane upper. Yet every game I’ve been to I can see loads of empty seats particularly on John street. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Probably more exaggerated given that is the family stand. If I'm a parent and I have STs with the young ones there, then if I'm not going then I'm not letting the kids go on their own (if the club would even let them in unattended). If one of the kids aren't going, then they'd likely be doing something which is occupying me at the same time, or they're unwell and it'd be a bit of a dick move for me to go to the football while they're coughing their little lungs up. Probably the same as other stands in terms of frequency of STHs not going, just more collateral damage

Yeah I get that, just seems to be the same seats every time. I wondered if it was some weird tax avoidance thing 😂

Ha!

You lot have a bigger inferiority complex than Spurs fans.

An abysmal, embarrassing 25 years from Wednesday and you’re still trying to justify why you are bigger than us.

You are a joke.
We don't need to "try" anything, the statistics tell everyone all that needs to be told. We've averaged higher crowds than you (with less visiting fans) over that time.

We haven't lost fans, we just restrict ticket sales much more now than we used to. For the Huddersfield play-off final in 2012 I brought about 10 mates from university, because when tickets went to general sale it was actually general sale. Now it would be impossible to do that.

Thankfully this time we've allowed two tickets per customer number. In recent years we've only allowed one ticket per customer number (plus requiring a minimum number of loyalty points) which has resulted in empty seats even for big games, like the Man City FA Cup Semi-Final, Leeds at home this year and the Bristol City home play-off game.

What we have proved in recent years is that we don't have enough fans to sell 30,000+ tickets if it's one ticket per customer number (plus a loyalty points restriction), except for a Steel City Derby.

Other similar size clubs do not restrict ticket sales anywhere near as much- if tickets are left over they put them on actual general sale. We either choose not to do that or are not allowed to due to previous crowd trouble. That's why others sell out more easily. Sunderland are a different case though, they have a larger fan base.

Kin hell, they nearly lost me as fan after those.
Genuinely, quite a few will have made the promise to never fork out for Wembley again. Or for the play offs in general.
This is our tenth go. Ten. No wonder we've lost some along the way.

Can we all just agree that from now on if you want to argue with DH9, you can fuck off to porktalk and do it?

I really couldn’t give a fuck about Wednesday’s attendances, whether that’s 50 years ago, 1 years ago or anything in between.

They love that shit over there, so keep this place free of it.

Mate with all due respect you’ve been out of the PL for a quarter of a century and counting, people outside the UK think Sheffield Wednesday’s a bank holiday. But yet here you are on a Blades forum (which is fine by me) telling our fans we have an inferiority complex, the irony 😂. I’d sit this one out if I was you. UTB.

The prize of this match is to go into a league we got humiliated week after week just last year.
It was that soul destroying we left matches early in our droves because we didn't want to be in the ground even if we'd forked out £60 plus
We're trying to get in a league where there's no novelty factor for us of playing Man U Liverpool et al and seeing the big name players.
A season in which we seemed destined for auto a few weeks ago just blew up.
It's not a big day out to Wembley we've been there several times in recent years and it's always ended up shit
We've got the worst play off record in the land
We haven't won the play offs ever, or win at Wembley for a century or even a semi final in most of our lifetimes
If we've sold 30,000 , especially with our restrictions, then hats off to our remarkable fans.

I’m bored, so just counted up the tickets that are left.

Section 218- 2 left
Section 519- 3 left
Section 521- 1 left
Section 522- 4 left
Section 524- loads left…about 800

Section 525 not opened- capacity 1,118 tickets
Section 526 not opened- capacity 1,118 tickets
Section 527 is a smaller section, not sure if this is used for segregation or open to us……approx 500 tickets.

So it appears that there are 3,546 tickets left…..maybe 3,046 if 500 are blocked off for segregation.

If our official allocation is 35,531…..then I calculate we’ve sold 31,985 tickets to date, roughly 32K and still a week of sales to go.
Looks certain it will be a sell out or very very close to one……doesn’t look like Sunderland will be offered extra blocks….possibly block 527 at a push.

Good work.. daily updates I like to keep an interest on cheers 👍

Say there's 3.5k tickets left still plenty could go within the next week as some have different circumstances and can't just buy them straight away.

Agree……think the 2 ticket per ID ref if you have at least 200 points changes everything.

There will be a really common scenario over the next few days.
Where Blades who have tickets will be telling their friends, colleagues, family that they’re Wembley bound next week.
The reply will be “Wish I was going but apparently you can’t go unless you’re on the database”.

Now the reply can be “don’t worry I can buy you a ticket using my ID ref”
And there’s still plenty of time to sort out some transport.

Yep..

Waiting on blocks to open for bulk tickets.
Payday different days over the month.
2x tickets per customer number.
Working all week so buying em at weekend.

When do they go off sale?

The downside to this is that there will be a lot of people who would have gone but now won't as the person who they would have gone with already has a ticket.

I've got a few mates who aren't regular blades by any stretch, but have attended games with me before, without having a customer number (including previous trips to Wembley).

Had I not already sorted my tickets out for me and the people im going with, I'd have probably bought a few extra but these lads will have no interest in going and not sitting with us who already have tickets.

That's not a dig at the ticket policy BTW... I think how it's been done this time is good and fair.

There is the tv camera area at the front of blocks 526 and 527 so might be a couple of hundred less tickets in those blocks than you calculated.

Then they should easy sit together and just walk down to see you at half full time. One good thing about Wembley is you can easily get to mates anywhere.
I’ve done it on a couple of occasions where I’ve sat on my own (because my then young daughter didn’t want to go) and met up with the mates I’ve gone down with.

Hopefully we'll be a bit quicker to open the next block, can't help but feel we'd have sold quite a few more tickets had we opened 524 up sooner. I bought 2 tickets at about half 2 and at that point they were about the only ones left together. It wasn't for another 5 hours or so, after the ticket office had closer that we opened another block. Surely as soon as it's down to single seats the next one should open.

Handful of tickets still available in 114. Annoying when I've already got mine in 506 and there's seemingly no way to change it!

It is strange, 114 looked like it had sold out in the season ticket sales window, but then a few popped up this morning. There were even two together!

Could it be that someone has contacted the ticket office and moved their seats? That’s the only reason I can think of.

Or perhaps tickets earmarked for people at the club who don't need them?

They don't know each other and don't really have the appetite I do to attend.

I'm the same as you. I'd have travelled alone, sat alone and spent the whole day alone if I had to, to be there.

A lot of casuals (like the piggy day trippers) will just be mates of mates who think 'ahh why not' when their die hard mates ask if they fancy coming with them.

Its why I really don't care about how many we sell. The policy means all the die hards will all get a ticket if they want one.

How are people supposed to know that new blocks are opening up? I assumed that if it was greyed out it was sold out. You could have people giving up because of this.
Well the fans group have been advising and I’m pretty sure it’s been like this the last couple of times. I just knew from experience but the club do keep putting out updates about new blocks too.

Ring the ticket office.
Had considered this. Website says they can't be amended but worth a go.

Anyone have an idea on if they are open today? Had a look online and only thing I could see was that they were closed on non-matchday Saturdays
