Although still in with a chance to beat forest will we change our policy of signing players who can't run.
A fundamental strength for a player is running and pace we bring in players with decent ability ! Pace and running always seem to be on the back burner.
I can go back years and years and is something we always come up short.
Every club is looking for it! We always seem to miss out,not a critism of the work ethic the team puts in a shift( stats show that ).
We fall short on mobility right accross the board forest showed us up all over the pitch finding space which we struggle to do.Thy wernt technically better! Just the dynamic of running power we struggle to match.Midfield is so one paced (slow) teams like forest just run all over us.
Pace, pace, pace we have to bring it in for next season.
Back to tues ! Still in it! Keep it tight and who knows! Just the lack of mobility makes tough.

You mean like Oliver Burke?

The problem is that, at our level, you can’t easily get fast and skilful. If a player has both to a good level, they get bought by Palace, Leicester etc. if they are very good at both, they get bought by Liverpool or Man City. In the Championship, most teams (or players) will have one or the other. Forest have pace, and their system suits it. But I’m not convinced they can outplay us. The issue yesterday was that we let the game get stretched and turned it into an end to end battle, which favours pace and fitness. On Tuesday, we need some smart game management to play it to our strengths.

Our main signing this season was Gibbs-White… That alone answers your question.

John Egan is our best defender...at defending!!! But when the fuck did Hecky start thinking he’s the modern day Socrates or Beckenbauer?...He far too slow to be the last man pissing about with the ball. When a quick striker presses him...We’re screwed.

Burke wouldn't have been a bad shout as back up wing back. He's played there before and would stop Johnson just kicking it past him and running.

Although I haven't seen him play for 6 months so it may well be a case of me forgetting just how bad he actually is.

Not saying we can corner the market! Just be more proactive (target).
This problem is nothing new year after year we fail recruiting pace and mobility. Even Wilder failed to do it.
Teams at l levels manage it we can't be proactive enough in this department 🙄

Agree 100% - especially through midfield. Sander is quick and strong, albeit nesh as fuck, when he gets going (or can be arsed) whereas the rest are weak and/or slow despite being decent technically. None of them can get about the pitch as much as a modern day midfielder needs to be able to and the goal output from that trio of Norwood/Fleck/Hourihane is pretty criminal.

Watching Osborn get outrun and outmuscled at every opportunity yesterday was painful. Another one who struggles physically. Maybe we shouldn't be surprised when he's as big as a hobbit.

Yes I agree that pace is a great quality to have but pace alone isnt good enough .. need to have players that know what to do with it as well. Thats why Forest were so much better than us yesterday - they did!
