Would be a great move for the lad though I’m a bit baffled as to what he’s done this season to earn it coming off the bench and playing cup games for Newcastle?

It's his raw attributes. Big, strong, quick, can strike a ball well off both feet, seems to be able to play wide or through the middle.. with the sort of platform Bayern provides you could imagine him doing very well there.

Same old shite from United, selling young talent on the cheap and bringing in players far worse.
One will perhaps be the next.

Got to line the pockets, I mean pay the bills somehow I suppose unlike those filthy swine bastards in S6
Is there a joke that I'm missing here or do you genuinely believe £10m+ for a lad with only 2 league goals, both in League One, is selling on the cheap?

I guess it comes down to timing.. I don't disagree with your assessment, but was there an opportunity for him to shine more at first team level in Tier 2 and for us to recover double that sum?

Potentially, yes but we never seem to be in a position to do extensive trial and error with young forwards.
This season, in hindsight, would have been the one to develop Oné.

Started the last 5 premier league games and scored 3 in those 5 games. Seems he’s now ahead of the likes of £50 million Wissa so he’s clearly doing really well now.

Don’t know how he’s playing overall tbh but noticed from highlights of the weekends games he’s now on free kicks also. Struck a free kick from outside the box that hit the bar yesterday.

We just don't have the resources and skills to develop young strikers.

They need to move on in order to work with first class coaches in the striker departments.

Let's all look forward to the Danny Ings of this world.

From a quick google, Galatasaray were supposed to have bid £12.9m for Ismaila Coulibaly back in 2021 after we turned down a bid from Milan.

Is everyone happy we decided to turn that down and see if he could shine at first team level?

I hope so…always liked the lad when he was here…be interesting to see how he gets on ( if it happens)

It's a good point, there's a business case both ways and a heap of circumstances which dictate direction.

I've said elsewhere, I think it's the right timing to sell Peck this Summer.. whereas Brooks and Seriki, I'd hold on a year... that's my gut feeling on their market values & career trajectories...
However, I'm not clued-in enough on our finances enough to make an informed decision on any of that. It might be that we need to sell all 3 (or none) for other reasons.

I think if the offer is a decent one for Peck then it's a no brainer to sell him especially if helps retain other players.

I think we do have the resources and skills to develop young strikers (or we did when Jack Lester was here).
I think the issue is more having the will and a long-term strategy to do so, instead of prioritising experience in the hope of getting promoted.

I'll readily admit to thinking we'd robbed the bank when Newcastle took him.

Despite his recent run of form, I still don't think it would have translated into him bagging 20+ for us, last season, had we kept him. He just isn't a natural finisher and has been getting game time as the lesser of multiple evils, with major investments in Woltemade, Wissa and Elanga failing to pay off for them to date.

I’d imagine not with the money they have but every player has their price and I’d say if it’s a good offer they wouldn’t stand in a young players way going to one of the true giants like Bayern, if there is any truth to the story that is.

No but I think we should recruit their recruiters

We don’t have a way of managing the transition to the the first team. Marsh has been stuck in this trap for a couple of seasons and Oné is heading down the same path.

Hecky was really, really good and introducing players like N’Diaye, Gibbs-white, Doyle, McAtee etc… to the first team, current manager not so much (unless you happen to be boffing one of his daughters).

Do you genuinely believe that Newcastle paid what he did for what he had done, rather than what he could do?

Osula is capable of scoring all types of goals. He looked a bit bambi in his cameos for us, but anyone that watched a bit of academy football will know about his goalscoring.

I'm generally half glass full, see the potential, big up ex-Blades... But I'm still unconvinced Osula will sustain a career in any of the big leagues. Has he learnt to keep up with his feet, or shield the ball AT ALL? I've not seen many players as bad as using their body. Beni Traore looked stronger.

I don't believe for a second that Bayern have looked at their squad and thought "Will Osula will slot in nicely here". Sounds like a random name/club generator rumour.

P.S. Good luck to the lad.

I've seen him a few times at Newcastle this season. 2 seasons of far better coaching and conditioning than we could have offered has finally started to produce a 90 minute player. His speed against premier league defences is quite something to behold. His lack of some basic football instincts, has been understood and for the most part given up on. The number of times everyone, apart from him, works out where a loose ball is going to end up is quite amusing, now that he no longer plays for us.

I've never once thought "I wish he still played for us". Like us Newcastle will be looking to turn his fee into something reliable.

Yep. He is still raw as fuck. And I still think we got decent money for him.

If Newcastle come knocking he’s not going to think twice about going the money made from the contract sets him up for life the chance of playing in the PL and Champions League who wouldn’t? Player power is far stronger than anything else, we hadn’t got a chance of keeping him the best we could do is negotiate the best deal possible. Bournemouth and Brighton both know that bigger clubs take their best players they just negotiate better than us.

Whether they'll sign a new deal will dictate I'd imagine. There's still no news on any of them. If that stays the case their value will deteriorate if they remain for another year. PSR might also come into it
