Will MGW Return hurt us longterm

When I saw the lineup against Brum I was seriously worried seeing both Fleck and Berge back in midfield. Both have been well below par this season. I wouldn't say either had a great game as they think they both had one poor/average half and one good half, but the signs were encouraging.

With those two potentially back in the frame and N'Diaye being ridiculously good at the moment, who is going to be sacrificed? I think all 3 of those players need a run of games now but ultimately one is going to be sacrificed for MGW.

I know people will say we've got a lot of games and we will be mixing things up, but if MGW is fit he will ultimately be one player which plays every match once fully fit, he's just too good. The worry is what impact this will have on the above players who desperately need to play week in week out for confidence and for form. If we miss out on promotion or playoffs and MGW goes back, ultimately one of these players will have missed out on valuable game time.

Hecky is rotating the squad and he'll get game time at the right time especially when we go to a 3421 formation.

It also depends what others think of McG - i'd prefer MGW in the team before McG, who for me slows down our play too much.

If we are looking to pass and move like the 2nd goal at Brum - MGW can fit in seamlessly and at least MGW can finish where as McG is not that clever at it, no matter what his other qualities are - his finishing is quite poor considering the chances he gets.

Getting rid of some of the deadwood who were bringing nothing to the table and taking large wages in exchange, and bringing in the Goode at the back, keeping hold of MGW and bringing back Jebbo was great business. These will feel like three new signings.

It's horses for courses, more of a squad game more than ever, and we now have a strong looking squad to pick and choose when we play certain players and when we rest them. I think we will have a very strong 2nd half of the season and I still haven't quite given up on promotion just yet. Its still more than possible. Which after our wretched start under Slav is ridiculous. Shows how much of a muchness the rest of the Championship is this year.

You can also add McBurnie into the mix as well. Played a very good cameo when he came on and worked his nuts off to close the game out.

Fleck/ Norwood/ Berge were all poor in the first half, but Hecky seemed to tweak things slightly in the second half and it appeared that Berge and Fleck were given a little more freedom to push on, which created problems for Birmingham.

MGW returning will be welcomed. I’m guessing initially as an impact until he’s back fully match fit. Certainly a good problem to have o

Play your best players every time, worry about next season.....next season....I would wager that getting on for half of those in the squad Friday night will not be at the club anyway.

That said I do have my doubts over MGW and Ndaiye in the same team, although you couldn't leave either out if fully fit. Two similar players who whilst blessed with some wonderful skill have a tendency to lose possession quite often putting the other, (2) midfielders, whoever they are under pressure. So you have to play Ndaiye just behind the main striker, as we did Friday against Brum, then for me, Berge & Fleck drop out MGW comes in and we play Norwood and Hourihane.

Wouldn't mind us trying a 3-4-3 at some point.... Bash, Egan, Davies then Bogle, Norwood, Hourihane and Fleck with MGW, Sharp, (but McBurnie may be better in that formation) and Ndiaye...

Even in an ideal world that is a pipe dream.

He’d cost way more than we’d get for Berge and would not sign for us permanently even if we could afford him.

If he is fit and ready though he absolutely has to play.

MGW has to start when fit. It guarantees we play with a 10 rather than the safety first flat 3. Playing him out wide or behind a lone striker just won't work imo.

We need to go with 3-4-2-1 in all our remaining Home games if we are to have a chance of getting in the play offs. Flat 3 possibly for certain away games but being on the front foot with pace will counter those teams who come to the Lane looking to press, spoil and nick a result, WBA next up being the prime example.

For that reason the pace and work rate of Ndiaye has to be considered alongside MGW in these games.

It’s doubtful that without him we have enough to gain promotion this season . With him however , I think we could be in with a shout .

If that were to materialise , the club would benefit to the tune of £150+million giving us the funds to buy him or someone of similar ability and replacements for the likes of Fleck and McGoldrick and still have a good chunk of money left over .

On that basis alone , the question answers itself really .

I know they are not exactly the same type of player but a good player is a good player and MGW is certainly that , plus he has actually scored and assisted more goals than Brewster so far.

Easy one, drop Berge. A decent twenty minutes hardly constitutes a road to Damascus moment. There should be no room in this team for any passengers, especially in centre mid.

Is N’Diaye ridiculously good? He’s got loads of raw talent but he sometimes goes an hour without doing anything.

That’s not meant to sound critical, but the idea of him keeping MGW out of the team is way wide of the mark for me. The latter is far and away the most effective player we have and should be first name on the team sheet when fit.

Unfortunately for MGW he won’t be anywhere near a regular starter while they have Daniel Podence on there books. Like it or not he’s a better player than MGW who really makes Wolves tick. I’m not saying he’s within our reach but he’s certainly not as good as you make him out to be. However he’s a young lad and the potential is there….. which is why Wolves will keep him
