After Bolton i had a £20 bet Clarke would get more than 15 goals this season after one of the lads aired his opinion has was a crap signing. It was after a good few hours of drinks and numerous Vodka / Redbulls so the details weren't clear, however i'm counting CheckaTrade goals in the seasons total.

Anyone have any thoughts on how many goals young Harvey will finish on?

I think it's probably a long shot (hope the odds were good).

Having said that, we are scoring a lot, so if he can eek his way into the team and pick up goals it's totally possible. Look how many Sharp scored in one month!?

He's already on 2 and hasn't played much, and hasn't played at all with our proper resurgent team? Could turn out to be a marvellous bit of gambling!

I said that Clarke would get 20 goals this season, but that was based on him being fit. Saw the highlights from last night and looks like he's shed a bit of timber.

If he can stay fit then he'll play and get goals, but with the way the team is playing he's going to have a bit part role from the bench barring injuries and suspensions to players like Billy. Billy is in great shape and doesn't miss many games because of his desire to play, but Clarke will be useful when we need an old school target man.

Will he get 15 goals now? No, maximum 10 I'd say

Looked sharp in his cameo last night to say he's not been playing, but it all depends how we use him.

We have an annoying tendency to lump it to him with his back to goal, when he's so much better with his feet than that.

He's had a very good ratio in recent seasons, he's capable of getting 1 in 2. It's just a matter of playing enough games. If he does play in a team that's playing well it's not beyond him.

I fancy him to get into double figures in all competitions.

Only if Sharp gets injured can I see Clarke making enough appearance to get 15.

I really hope that Wilder has learnt his lesson and never plays them both together again.

Speaking from experience, drink and gambling don't go as well together as you might think.

He pounced quickly on the ball at Grimsby and fired a cracker into the net, give him game time and he will score.

They've only been together in a poorly performing team, one that could barely string 5 passes together.

If they played together in the current set up it could be quite different, with good footballers giving them the ball to feet more often. I don't think they'd work perfectly together but Sharp and Done don't do that either.

We'd lose something as far as closing down goes but Clarke's presence could compensate for that by making the ball stick more often when it's cleared/played long. There's also an extra tall player for set pieces, at both ends. Add in the goals he's capable of scoring and I think on balance we could be better off. So I hope Wilder does try them together again, I think he will.

He'd have probably got 15 in a full season, dozen tops now. Glad he's back fit, he's exactly what we've been missing up top. At the start of the season he was still our best player on the park more often than not even when not fully fit, so hopefully now he's 100% he'll contribute even more. Please Wilder if you're playing Clarke and Sharp (or Done or Lavery), play both of them up top on the shoulder of oppo defenders, not with 1 dropping 10-20 yards deep.

I can't disagree more, one of the key reasons we have seen an improvement is due to Done being up front closing down the opposition and providing far better movement.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, gasp, hahaha, chuckle chuckle.

No.

Sorry Ricky but I just don't see this. If we put Clarke in he is after the same space as Billy. He is not a target man IMO and to play bith together would mean we lose some of the mobility that we have. Clarke is a swap for Billy, not an also.

I'm glad he's back but I'm not sure we've been missing him up top. Since he last started our record is W8 D3 L0 in league games. And we scored 5 goals in the 3 games we didn't win.

I hope he can contribute, but I'd be tempted not to fix what isn't broken and keep the Done and Sharp partnership together for now, assuming Done is fit.

It is a luxury to have such options up front, though. And you're right about where the strikers need to be positioned. If Wilder carries on as he has been he will have learned that lesson, though.

FWIW I doubt Clarke will score 15 unless Sharp gets a long term injury, but if he is starting every week he is certainly capable of scoring once every 2 games. I just think his opportunities will be a bit more limited than that.

It's up to Clarke to force his way into team, scoring goals is how he will do that. All adds up to competition for places which is great.
We are a different animal now compared to when he was last fit will be interesting to see if he can gain a place, all good as far as I can see.
We will use him differently as we have developed a style and work rate is very important up front.

Since he's been out there have been times when we've been crying out for a player like him to come off the bench. Once fully fit I see him coming on and scoring vital goals late in games.
