Will anyone come in for our players in the Jan window ?

Everybody keeps saying they wouldn’t swap any of their player for ours. So with us being presumably the ultimate TEAM....they’ll have to buy the job-lot, If they want to get a tune out of em.

Arsenal, Villa or Everton then? 😥

.
Apparently none of our players would get in their team...so they say it demonstrates how poor Smith has been.

Would they get in the bet365 championship team of the decade?

Summed up perfectly SheffSteel, its Wilder et al who give the players their values bandied about on here ....
I’m not diminishing the quality of our players. But with our selfless work ethic, our unique style of play and the fact most of these players careers were on the slide before Chrissie plucked em from relative obscurity, makes me wonder whether they could perform as effectively for another manager or system of play?

Think we need Roy’s view from to spell a few things out for Blades fans.
If you read other clubs forums you’d be amazed that no one rates any of our players yet.

The common theme at virtually every club including Villa, Watford, Bournmouth, Brighton, Crystal Palace is none of our players would get in their sides.

Its difficult for anyone to stand out individually because we play a simple pass and move game where the onus is on “the team”.
The last time we had anyone with a bit of individual flair was David Brooks..
There's no one else at the club that stands out with individual ability..apart from possibly Mouset but its too early for anyone to bid big money for him.
Its a fantastic position to be in.....we don’t have a best player and don’t have any individual talents...our players are only good because of their team mates.

Check our goal of the month....we don’t have a single player who can score with a sublime piece of skill....or score a spectacular long ranet shot.
We have no one who will dribble past a few defenders....not a single player stands out at PL level.

The fans don’t have to rate them, it’s the people at the clubs with actual football knowledge that count.

Other managers will have seen things they like in our players this season, it’s inevitable.

Foreign teams can talk to Lunny to take him on a free which I don't like. It really should have been sorted by now.

Celtic or Rangers could be interested, doubt he'd go there mind.

Why would he swap the Premiership for Scottish Football.
That's like swapping Holly Willoughby for Diane Abbott.

True but notice how Pep post match assessment is ”Sheffield United have more physicality than any other side in the division”.
Almost every manager says our players work hard and so organised making it tough for their team.
Not one manager says we have good players or raves about any individual players.

The worker/ tough type of players are going for 10 million max.
Its the special players with quality and flair or reliable PL stalwarts that go for 30 million plus.
Very much doubt we’d sell any of our 1st teamers for 10 million.

Our players that are receiving rave reviews are O’Connell and Basham but that’s not for their defensive abilities.
They are famous go overlapping the fullbacks...they are both impressive doing it.....however no other team needs that type of player.
We rate Egan but he rarely ever plays in a defensive 2 centre backs....suspect in a 2 he’s average.....but in the middle of a 3 he’s excellent.
Norwood was judged by numerous managers as not good enough for the PL....think it’s due to his lack of physicality.
However Wilder uses him playing deeper in the pivot/ quarterback..asks his players to pass to him...so Norwood can spray the ball about with long & short passing.
Really believe that if Norwood went to another club he wouldn’t be given this role and he’d look very ordinary and be dropped.

Think our only player that might attract interest is Lundstram but he might be a 1 season wonder. He’s not been as good in any other season....remember last season we all thought he wasn’t even Championship standard...so doubt we’d revive a large bid....possibly 15 million max (based on his athleticism he’s shown this season).

Nah. Our players are at their highest ever value and they may well cost less in the summer if contract talks don't go well

You’re giving our players a disservice by saying they’re only any good because of Wilder, don’t get me wrong, he’s a major part of it but not the only part, all our players deserve huge credit for how they’ve gone about it themselves.

I think the secret of our success is recruitment for a specific designated role.

Other clubs just seem to target a player for a general position....Tyrone Mings has done a few last gasp sliding tackles and done a few goal line clearances, so he has a good reputation and would attract large bids to play as centre half.

However take the Basham position playing in a 3, we don’t need the best centre half because Egan is next door sweeping up/ covering mistakes.
However the Basham role needs someone who is comfortable filling in at right back when Baldock is caught upfield and out of position.
Also the Basham role needs a centre half with fantastic stamina (a cross country champion) who can occasionally push up to play in midfield and also have the stamina to burst into the opposition penalty box.

So my view is that as an orthodox centre back Chris Basham is easily one of the weakest in the PL....hence no one would bid for him
but playing the Basham role is so specialist and Basham is one of the best players in the PL with all the attributes to play that role.

If anothet club plays a version of our system then Basham is worth 30 million.......but no other club plays our system.

They're all too old, so unless they aren't under contract like Lunny, I can't see anyone sniffing. West Ham might fancy offering Lunny a stupid deal but that's because they're West Ham and throw daft money at problems money can't solve.

Which should also mean we aren't looking for the perceived "best" players when we're looking for replacement or upgrade.
Without going all Liam Neeson, we need a certain type of player with a certain set of skills, who we then mould into what we need.
Therefore we shouldn't need to spend £30-40 million to replace Bash, we just need to shop smart, (shop S-Mart).

Is everyone forgetting where we are ,its like all the Wilder leaving threads ,everyone who was going to get Wilder has sacked their manager now and got some dork in ,Wilder never even got mentioned. The only ones leaving will be the ones we want to ,maybe Clarke , Freeman ,Bryan ,and possibly Stearman and Sharp. Lundstram is the only one running out of contract and he wont be going anywhere.

Although I agree in principle with your post, it’s important to remember that it’s not the fans that do the bidding at football clubs and any scout / coach at any decent level will see just how good some of our players actually are. Fleck & Egan have both been singled out numerous times by match of the day so their performances aren’t going unnoticed. Saying that though JOC does seem to be flying under the radar currently, as does Baldock.

The only one I’d thought about potentially was Fleck to Villa.

The type of club that would pay £25m and offer him a 4 year deal on £60k a week to cover for McGinn until the end of the season. Then keep him on the books until his deal ran out.

However, I don’t think anyone will go in January. They are building up their Premier League profiles at the moment.

I expect the board will have a very testing time in Summer as many will no doubt be thinking about their wages being brought in line with other Premier League players.

We’ll agree to disagree mate, as I’m pretty certain we’ll be turning bids down in January for key players when clubs get desperate.

Not all managers are as forthcoming and honest as our own when doing media work.

I don’t read too much into what they say pre or post match. Pep is a bizarre example as I don’t see Man City being interested in any of our players anyway. It’s the likes of Man Utd, Spurs etc. who might take a punt for £20m.

I don’t think anyone is saying key players will be leaving sitters, it’s more of a thread saying that teams would be daft to not be looking at some of them, hence a bid. Wilder will certainly keep hold of them if he wants to and the player wants to stay, the days are long gone when we got shafted for our best talent, that’s why I’m not concerned.

We have several International players, all of whom have performed well so far this season. Others too.

Utterly naive to even think our resolve won’t be tested.

And given that said resolve is likely to involve 10s of millions of pounds for certain individuals, this is a window I am not looking at all forward to !

Theres always a chance that one might go into div mode like Duffy and move on ,but no one springs to mind.

They all seem to have a great attitude, even most of the fringe players seem to be ok with their roles at present.

b
Lundstrum, O’Conner, Sharpe, Clark and Edna Stephens are my guesses ;)
You know people were liking laughing at this , but Endas a fantastic player why wouldn't any want him , and as for Sharp (no E) i bet some championship side will be watching him , he would secure promotion for any of the top teams in the championship , can just see him wearing the blue and white

Depending on how contract negotiations are going, the club may decide to cash in on Lundstram rather than let him leave for free in the summer.

With the distinct lack of quality LBs/LWBs around and clubs like Chelsea seeking them, I would imagine there being a lot of interest in Stevens.

I would imagine the bigger bids for Egan, Fleck and JOC will be received over summer rather than Jan.

Our players may not be able to force their way into the starting line ups of such Premier giants as Norwich, Brighton, Watford, Bournemouth, Soton and Wet Spam. But I couldn’t name the full starting line ups of any of them. But every one of our players have been scrutinised very closely by the pros, pundits and fans alike. Their positions, their strenghs and weaknesses and their role in the team. So with the exception of the big 6. We must have the most known, most talked about set of players in the league.

The main reason Jack won’t play centre back for England is mainly our style of play. Southgate would be terrified he’s be spending more time up top with Harry Kane than being at side of Harry Maguire.

We have just sold the whole team they are now known as "Crab Industries Clawers FC", fee undisclosed, allegedly reported to be about 1.5 mill and some free crab airline tickets.

The realistic threat for me is Lunny and Fleck. Of those two Lunny is the one who I wouldn’t be surprised to see go. I might be paranoid but is he really injured or just being parked prior to a move?

Good question! A lot of flu goes round at this time of year y'know?
