Wilders worst trait

That's a hypothetical situation and not realistic in this discussion..

We were 2-0 up, brought 2 strikers on and went 3-2 down.. I'm confident that we bring a besic or Osborn on we win that game and dont concede 3.
You're posting that solely with the benefit of hindesight, at that point of the game there looked like only one team was going to score, US. Wilder aim was to keep the momentum going, if he had done what you're suggesting and it had still cost us the game, you'd be on here now bemoaning his negativity and screaming for his head probably.
You're very annoying.

Subs...

2 strikers come on when were 2-0 up at home to Man Utd.. just see the game out with a couple of midfielders.

Man Utd go 3-2 up and instantly bring a defender on.

That's the difference. Too attack minded when winning these games.
Yeah cos that’s the reason we switched off at the back... we replaced a striker with another striker...

See above.
How?

We were 3-2 down when I posted, and I've always thought about Wilders subs when losing/close battles haven't always been great, I posted because I truly believe the choice of subs costed us the win today (and I still do), which as of right now, a 3-3 draw remains the same outcome, even after McBurnies goal, because we didn't win, which is the entire theme of this original post, some people obviously have difficulty getting their head around that or are just arrogant enough to ignore it.

You could say, but McBurnie A SUB rescued the game...... but I'd say my original point was that we wouldn't have been in a 3-2 losing position in the 89th minute with a different choice of subs.

Of course, we could've brought Besic and Osborn on and drew 3-3 still... I'd have been praising us for trying to see out the game against MANCHESTER UNITED at home whilst 2-0 up.

Again, my opinion... everyones welcome to theirs and I haven't replied to anyone having a go, insulting just because they disagree with me, so why should others?

Wilder is our best manager in my lifetime for sure, but he certainly isn't exempt from any critisicm.
We stopped playing after the second goal. No one knows what may have happened. However you seem to state Man U did the correct thing by bringing on a defender. Well that clearly didn’t work for them. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Besic and Osborn have hardly played a game and can’t play up front...

So you take off the injured striker, replace him with Osborn in midfield, go to a back 4 and then have 1 up top... when we’re 2-0 up at home and cruising. Their first was totally out of the blue.

facepalm

Why would Besic and Osborn play upfront for fuck sake?

We'd obviously go 5-4-1 if we were to bring Mousset off (which we were as he was injured), or another formation and leave McGoldrick upfront on his own. Thats the exact fucking reasoning I posted what I posted.

Do you honestly think I wanted Wilder to bring Mousset off for Osborn and Osborn sit upfront? Fucking hell.

I'm 100% not gonna criticise Moore he was thrown into the deep end for no fault of anyone at the club. Thought jags had a brilliant game too, no worries about putting him back in next week if needed.

You should criticise him. He's more to blame than any substitute for us going 3-2 down.

Fuck knows what he was doing for the third, and the ball was already passed him before he got down to the level of the second.

Besic would have chopped most of the Man Utd squad down and given away needless free kicks. This ref was always looking to give Man Utd a free kick.

Maybe I should, but had we not been playing Man United he wouldn't have been in the team. We knew at the start of the season Henderson wouldn't be playing in this game.

Good. Breaks their play up, doesn't it? Just think when James was bombing past Stevens, a little tap brings him down take the yellow card, regroup defend the FK, probably doesn't result in a goal.

Basic things that every other team in the league does, we don't.

Dont think you understand. Why do we need a straight swap at 2-0 up with 17mins left? Couldnt have changed shape left didz upfront and see the game out no?
That wouldn’t have worked. We needed an outball because we were resorting to lumping it up anyway. Like for like change for Moose was 100% the right call, it’s the play behind that was lacking

I understand that you want to pick the bones out of Wilders substitutions when we’ve just conceded some goals...

But as I said, straight swap something which has worked before recently, we close games out from the front. Mousse was injured so why change shape when we’re cruising?
Whilst I don't agree it should have been for a midfielder, Mcburnie was the wrong sub as like you say we close down from the press, as soon as he comes on the high press is gone, Sharp restored this a bit when he came on then Mcburnie dropped in behind him. Robinson maybe for moose would have been better as he closes down more and has bags more pace than Mcburnie, is it Mcburnie fault no? Just think it was slightly niave.

He looked like a keeper on Fifa when you hold triangle for no apparent reason and he comes charging out of goal. Terrible decision making

He subbed Moose through injury and McGoldrick at 2-2. Why the hell would he leave McGoldrick upfront on his own when he’s not that type of player.

Shocking statement, if we put 11 men behind the ball after 70 minutes we would have had no outlet and be penned in completely.

Sorry I’m taking the mickey... I shouldn’t.

So again, Mousset off, leaves McG up front and he was knackered too. We needed a man to win the balls in the air and also run... we’ve closed other games out this way.

Sooner or later you swap McG for a striker because that’s how we keep the ball up top...

because we're in a winning position 2-0, McGoldrick is a good hold up the ball player. He doesn't need to go for goals at 2-0 up, just sit deep, hold the ball up, with the protection of an extra midfielder.

You explained it much better than I could as I couldn’t resist taking the piss!

Ok then, so why not bring both Moussett off for McBurnie and then bring Besic on for McGoldrick, leave Mcburnie up on his own and use Besic as an extra midfielder to combat the attacking thread of Manchester United, again at 2-0 up.

McBurnie was pressing and I don’t think this was where the problem came really. I think if anything the Mousse injury just allowed them to regroup a little

Maybe so, we'll never know its a matter of opinions, my opinion is we'd have held on 2-0/2-1.

From the BBC.

Sheffield United have benefited from more goals (five) from substitutes in the Premier League this season than any other side.

Bloody Wilder and his subs.

Different context though?

I bet 5 of those 5 goals were when we were losing. Today we was not.

EDIT: Maybe 4 because Moussett didn't start at Everton.
