A Wendy asked me the other day where he thinks we will finish my answer is wait until August after we have done our recruitment, brownie may change his mind completely by then, I cannot judge yet what Wilder is expecting but he will definitely not be looking to establish ourselves, and neither should we, some clubs maybe, can you imagine if he came out with " establishing " ourselves for 1/2 seasons, bollocks to that, not saying we will win promotion but lets have a good go at it at least

The below is taken from William Hill odds for outright Champions. No Reading or 'udders in there.

Realistic to say mid table next season then?

1. Aston Villa 7/1
1. Fulham 7/1
3. Norwich 8/1
4. Derby 9/1
4. Middlesbrough 9/1
6. Sheff Wed 12/1
7. Hull 14/1
7. Sunderland 14/1
7. Wolves 14/1
10. Leeds 16/1
11. Brentford 20/1
12. Cardiff 25/1
12. Sheff Utd 25/1
14. Birmingham 33/1
14. Nottingham Forest 33/1
16. Bristol City 40/1
16. Preston 40/1
18. QPR 66/1
19. Ipswich 80/1
19. Millwall 80/1
21. Barnsley 100/1
21. Bolton 100/1
23. Burton 150/1
Depends, can you obtain William Hills odds for the Championship from May last year?

Let's wait and see. Got to plan for the worst and hope for the best haven't we.

I hope some of these folk who seem to be hoping for back-to-back promotions aren't too disappointed

What about the folk who are turning run of the mill opposition into titans? I saw us play last season. I also watched quite a few Championship games. We'll be absolutely fine.

Regarding the OP. If it was clear that last season's recruitment was 'about rebuilding the squad with half an eye on making us difficult to beat, and promotion wasn't a big a priority', god help the other clubs if Wilder decides that we're going to go for it.

How did we walk the league, score goals for fun and amass 100 points if he'd created a squad that was basically hard to beat?

Personally I'm delighted with the current recruitment, and although I think we will bring in a player or two from a higher league possibly towards the back end of the window, I'm totally relaxed and confident that they'll broadly fit within our pay-scale and and we'll have enough to at least stabilise next season.

Last season I watched Wilders pre-season recruitment and it was clear that he was rebuilding the squad with half an eye on making us difficult to beat, and that promotion wasn't a big a priority as turning round a sinking sink, and play offs or above would be a bonus.

This season I'm getting the impression rather than going all out and spending a lot of money, he is just going to bring in a few players who can add to the squad, and incrementally improve it rather than going full tilt at the Championship.

At the minute looking at his new signings, none of them make you think that we have managed to get a top quality player in who can drive us forwards, but they all make you think that they are just strengthening the squad, and the real target for next season is to finish 21st or above, and look at doing the same the following season.

The last time we dropped from this division we had a generally disinterested and threadbare squad of journeymen, supplemented by loan players who weren't wanted elsewhere who was here to either put themselves in the shop window, or for their own financial gain. I think Wilder knows this, and rather following a similar path, he is assembling a squad he knows that will be good enough to survive in our first season back.

I'm not rubbishing anyone, or being particularly negative but I think I'm just being realistic, and I think that Wilder is pragmatic enough that there is no point in running before you can walk
Hmmmm...I wonder why at the start of last season Wilder kept saying that promotion was the aim and that he didn't want the piss about play-offs?

Sure we will... but we'll probably not boss games as much as we did last season.

Wednesday fans literally think we're clueless and being ridiculous in how we're supporting our recruitment at the moment. They genuinely think that were a cert for relegation.

None of us are expecting us to storm the league, but the way we're doing things is so encouraging. Wonder who'll be proved wrong out of the two of us.

Steve, never mind the wayward thinking of those twats in S6.......it might be an idea to keep one or two choice wendy comments simply to remind them of how clueless they are when it comes to predicting how we'll do.

They're just chanting the mantra SB, if they say it enough times, it must be true. I don't think many of them genuinely believe that we're 'certs for relegation', but it makes them feel better if they say it enough times and a maybe a Blade reads what they say.

It's just like them starting threads on how a £15m strike force will surely fire them into an automatic spot, and when that option bolted, which hotel they've booked for the play-off final. By talking about it enough, they convinced themselves that it was nailed on. One day dem Pigs with realise that they're just a set off delusional fools, and that huddling together, chanting the mantra and tapping their ruby trotters three times is pretty straw-clutching pathetic.

We might face a season of stability ahead, but they know that when we play them they're in for one hell of a game, because one thing that we won't do is bottle it like their overpriced over paid shower of shite. :)
