I 'understand' why he played with the 3 central midfielders. He did it in the hope that we would keep solid ion midfield against 2 very good midfields. Unfortunately it didn't work.

With regards to Evans, he obviously loves Wigan and showed a desire to go back. No great loss. Lundstram can play next to Fleck until Coutts is ready. Duffy/Woodburn NEED to start behing the lumps upfront though

I’d assume Wilder always picks what he perceives is the best team at a given time. If the team then plays poorly and certain players don’t do their job properly that doesn’t mean it was any less the best team in his belief at the point he picked it.

I don’t get the logic of the thread other than to strangle Wilder with his own words with the benefit of hindsight.

He’s selling someone who was in the first XI, yes, but it’s the first XI that just lost 2 consecutive games.

Two potential midfield players came on in the last game and were more effective than Evans. Perhaps they are now in his ‘best’ team and Evans now isn’t. Perhaps Evans has gone down in Wilder’s estimation as a definite.

Perhaps Evans has seen all the fanfare about Coutts training again and told the manager “when he’s fit, I’m out, aren’t I? Can we cut our losses and let me go to Wigan where I’ll be a guaranteed starter?”

I think we’re looking for problems where they don’t exist. Is it me or has this Board has got a bit paranoid this week?!

Evans sees himself as someone who gets on the play and like to dictate play (that's on an interview when he signed for Wigan). Basically a poor mans Coutts but he's no where near as good and isn't able to do that. It'll be interesting to see how he does back at Wigan.
