Wilders next signing are crucal.

Reckon Wilder's done just fine with his signings so far, within an excellent philosophy - one in which the group comes first, team spirit is vital, and "hungriness" means everything.

Cos it's not just about the budget in isolation. It's about the wage structure too. Even if the money's there (& I believe it is), you can't just blow large chunks of it on greedy, selfish types who don't buy into the "team is greater than the individual" outlook, smashing the wage structure & squad harmony in the meantime.

We all know we need those 2 or 3 keys signings over the next week or so, & we all know these are the trickiest deals that have had to be worked on hardest. But long may Chris stick to his principles & continue building the club the right way. No panic buying needed, just piece-by-piece progression.

Most important deal of all IMO would be the one involving signing Brooksy up on a proper first-team contract (ideally. long-term) & showing that, now we're back in this division, the club isn't the soft touch its been over recent seasons as with the likes of DCL.

We've scored two goals in four league games, both by the same scorer.
As it stands, the biggest issue is up front where we could really do with some pace. At the moment the opposition will know we can't really hurt them on the break as we don't have the legs anywhere in the team to break quickly.

I do feel that we need better quality players than we have brought in so far..

6 points from 4 games, 3 against 3 of the league's quality sides and 2 of which were away from home.

Derby look like a mid-table outfit to me though they have a really good manager too. Let's see how we go and hope we have 9 points from 5 games, hardly a crisis by any measure.

What we do see from Blades on here is that insecurity and pessimism and open panic after just two league defeats, forget the Carabao game played with mostly second string players on both sides. and indeed the one we won.

Wilder is a Blade. He relished the adulation last season but he knows us fans. So many on here will panic and ditch him if we go through a testing period of adjustment in the new division even though it is to be expected after 6 years down below.

Is he immune from negative sentiment on S24SU? You would not expect so but let's all hope his plan and his beliefs see us through and don't even test our loyalties before Xmas. What do we matter? Well Steve Bruce with all his experience in the game has declared bitter revenge in the fullness of time on the 'evil fans on social media' at Villa. If it gets to him it gets to the players. If it gets to the players everyone is stuffed.

KTF Blades. Wilder is our only chance and he should be in 'credit' for the next two years at least simply on what he has achieved so far. Let's show support in it's truest sense, not just when we are winning as Champions.

The O.P. infers that maybe because of Wilder's inexperience at this level he will struggle - even though we have 6 points from 4 games. Last season we had one point at this stage. Respect the man and back him. This may seem a harsh reply to a reasonable O.P. but anyone can see the drip drip on the Forum already.

Derby look like a mid table outfit to you?!!!!!!!!! God help us then.

Who's R Crucal?

Sounds Eastern European and we have a xenophobic transfer policy.

Who is Crucal and what country are we signing him from?
And, assuming it should be 'signings are' I wonder who is the second player we are trying to sign.
Or maybe three or four or more.
Tell us more!

I hope we get to the end of the season with a 50% win rate like we have NOW. That's 69 points, probably 8th - 12th, decent first season back. Don't understand the anxiety at all. Like said above, Wilder's achievement last season should give him at least two seasons of transition before any kind of expectation of a Play Off push. He knows he has to learn at this level as much as the players. Support the guy ffs.

It's clear to me we need a new striker. A marquee signing for about 3 million minimum. Easy for me to spend others money I know. But when you look at out options and serious lack of pace, I can only see it as a necessary investment.

Don't get me wrong, I love Wilder and his love for the blades cannot be questioned. However I do feel that his summer recruitment has been found a bit wanting. Maybe due to no experience dealing in the championship. For me his next 2 or 3 signing have to be good ones for us to secure a mid table finish. I feel the current squad will be in a battle to keep out of a relegation fight at the end of the season if not. Fingers crossed that Chris and his team are getting the backing that they need to improve the squad, not just to make the numbers up.

I think it's more down to the budget he has been given rather than any inexperience at Championship. But I agree, the next 2/3 signings need to have the ability to come into the first team and make a difference (i.e. better than what we have got).

Also we are not yet (re)established in this league - that draws players in as well (look at Burton).

Wilder is doing well with the budget he has. After all McCabe and the Prince are paupers in this division.

Wrong.

Constantly evolving process. That's in the now, not in 2 months time.

Expect at least one "shock" in the next 8 days !!

Wilder himself last night said we are close to 2, and he is pushing for 2 more.

That's 4 he wants. And rightly so.

UTB

Good shock or bad shock?

I'd settle for Lenihan and Coady with keeping hold of Brooks and adding some pace and explosiveness up front through a PL loanee.

Me too. If we did those three deals I'd say we'd had an excellent transfer window

When we people realise, we DO NOT have the funds to attract a proven pacey and powerful striker. Everyone is in the market for them and we simply can't compete with clubs at this level that will throw 40k p/w at a player.

Mendes Laing was cheap - you just need to be able to pick the lower league boys that will prosper at a higher level.
