Wilder's interview tonight

Got to be careful now imho.

What if we're poor against Reading? Where does he go from there. Clearly looking for a reaction but I can't help but thinking he's pushing it a bit.

I don't think we have to suddenly be Man City on Tuesday, don't think we even have to win to be honest, just need to put in a good performance. We lost against Villa and Leicester but played well.

We just can't be that bad again and I don't think we will be.

Reading between the lines, reading from another book more like!

There's no indication of that in the interviews at all, any of them.
What other book? What are you talking about a book for? Brooks isn't injured and it's come out the following day that Spurs are going to offer £10m. I'd say that he was generally trying a different tack with the players but there also seemed to be something further pissing him off. That's ALL I'm saying... 'book'?

I don’t like those comments. It makes him come across as sulking and excusing himself of any responsibility when things go wrong. He’s had two solid years of success, winning every week and now we’ve found our level he’s not liking it.

He also perhaps feels that his stock is so high that he can put the onus on the players to sort things out and detach himself from it. I would disagree with him. He’s not Alex Ferguson. He has built a winning team, not a dynasty.

It’s a very difficult division with a lot of difficult games to play and whilst I was disappointed with the performance Friday the players aren’t going to be at it every single game. They have played fairly well in the vast majority of games with things at times not going our way recently. We are still higher in the league that I expected us to be at this stage. He needs to give himself and everyone else a break to be honest.

He's always been honest. But have found his last two interviews not entirely consistent with previous responses to bad results/form. He's still in massive so credit so can only assume he knows what he's doing.

Friday was poor , potentially the poorest. Without seeing the Preston, Cardiff or QPR away games in full I can't really say if its been the worst this season in the league.

Let's not forget though its only the high standards they've set that makes this feel like a bad defeat. Most seasons we would expect to lose one out of two away games by this manner. Adkins somehow managed to rev the players up and convey to them exactly what they would be up against and how we'd play. Have to say he did well on the night.

Friday was a missed opportunity which is why it hurt so much, if you look at one performance like that in isolation it isn't the end of the world but again fans' expectations have started to become unrealistic. Its the championship - any team can turn up and beat any other on their day. Don't forget the QPR result we ground out and the Leeds game before it, the team hasn't dropped off by any means.

What rankles with Wilder is not the defeat we accept that it's the manner of the no-show which hurts him ,no pluses whatsoever that is rare in itself

We're spending time talking about Wilder and seemingly forgetting about the dismal, unacceptable performances by some of the players on Friday.
I think it's fair to say that pretty much everyone has come out of this week looking a bit shit. The players were utter garbage, as bad a performance as we've had in well over 12 months. To compound that, Wilder has reacted very strangely to the situation and openly criticised the players effort and commitment.

The fact that this is a fully British squad leaves no doubt that the players are fully aware of how different this open criticism is from the norm, not just for Wilder but for British football. As others have said, if Wilder is trying to provoke a reaction it will be interesting to see if he gets the one he's hoping for.

The Reading game is the biggest we have faced since Wilder came to the club. Although totally pissed off at the performance on Friday Wilders comments since have left me a little bit afraid of what lies ahead.
Will the players respond or sulk?. Wholesale changes or let the same team redeem themselves?. Personally, I wont be disheartened with a finish around 8th or 9th as long as we seem United and he fucking gets back to smiling again.

If he gets the same performance against Reading after the debacle at Hull ....... he knows which players will not be playing for him next season.

I would suggest that any players from the Hull game who are fortunate enough to be selected tonight ( excepting Blackman & Baldock who were the only two who weren't shit at Hull) will be sweating blood to bet back in his plans for next year.

Tonight's performance should tell Tufty quite a lot about his current team .......

Anybody who can't take the criticism on the chin that he gave after the Hull game ........ well they're not going to be around for too much longer.
