He also won 4 trophies at Alfreton, before getting Oxford promoted.

Part of the problem is that as he's risen the leagues, patience evaporates, and northern stereotypes are just not welcome.

Did a pretty decent job at Halifax as well

Feels like he's a Sheffield Mourinho in some ways. Just lower key. Would love to see those two form a manager/assistant manager partnership.

"There once was a manager named Chris
Whose job was always in a state of abyss
He'd join a new club with great hope and cheer
Only to be sacked by the end of the year.

He started at Halifax, with a smile so wide,
But soon found himself back on the outside,
Next up was Oxford, but alas, it wasn't meant to be,
And soon poor Chris was back to watching TV.

Northampton came calling, with a glimmer of hope
But again poor Chris was left unable to cope
And just when he thought he'd found his niche
He was sacked from Sheffield United, life can be such a bitch.

But Chris refused to give up, he kept going strong
He joined up with Boro and righted some wrongs
But just when he thought he'd cracked it at last
He was sacked once again, it happened so fast.

Now poor Chris is on the job hunt once more
Hoping and praying he won't be shown the door
But regardless of where he goes, or whats in his past
We'll always remember him as the man who just couldn't last.

So here's to you, Chris Wilder, with your sacking streak
We hope you find a job that lasts more than a week
And until then, we'll keep our fingers crossed
And hope your next job doesn't come at such a cost."

In American English, Niche rhymes with Bitch, but in England niche rhymes with quiche. Yet...in America, quiche is pronounced the same way as in England.

What have they done to our beautiful language.

That's yanks for ya! ain't that right Nessman930 😜

Watford was never a good fit for wilder with their current squad if inconsistent players, many of which I suspect think they're better than they are. Not so sure managing in Scotland will appeal to him though but his appeal for jobs he'd like is diminished after indifferent spells at Boro and Watford, the latter I dont think is his fault and at Boro it seemed recruitment was the issue but then the way Carrick has done makes him look a bit crap!

I think a move to a club like Preston would suit him more than Scotland but those club often like a younger up and coming manager.

He's wealthy enough now not to have to work again, he's 56 in September and he should swallow his pride and go to Doncaster Rovers and start again and work his magic there. Take over a local club, close to his home, close to his staff's homes, have total control over everything, get the crowd behind him, pull in some favours with local teams regarding players, get the sparkle back in his eyes and fall in love with the game again.

Chesterfield! Get that sleeping giant (so to speak) back into the League 1/Championship mix...

Good post.
Often thought that so many people seem to be motivated by money, fair enough but the more they have....the more they seem to want.
Wilder has made decent money in recent years.....he's got a bit of Neil Warnock about him...give him basic players and he can turn out a decent team
but give him talented players or money to spend and he's not so good.

I suppose he knows his stock will be high in league 1 and league 2, he can almost pick whatever team he wants.
If and when Paul Warne leaves Derby, Wilder would be a big favourite for that job.

I suppose going to the Scottish league gives him a new experience and improves his CV.
Hearts are one the bigger clubs in Scotland and Edinburgh is a nice city to live.
If that job fails.....then he'll always be welcome at Donny or Chesterfield, so he can take that job later.

Got more clubs than our own Matthew Fitzpatrick,he'll be thinking if it doesn't work out at hearts some other team will want him probably right be someone like Scunthorpe.
