Wish we had him in charge for the run in - Thoughts!!

I love what Wilder did for us, and the way we rose up.
I still feel shortchanged about the way it all led to his departure. For me he should have been here still now and us still be in the PL or back in the PL.
Perhaps one day maybe have him back, I know many think he "left by the back door" but open your eyes and see. Wilder, Slav and Hecky all seem to cut a figure of frustration at our board. Wilder should have tried to do more what Hecky does and get on with it, but you have to remember he's a boy hood blade and got too involved.

BUT he isn't the manager. And a comment or thread like this doesn't really mean anything.

It's almost like saying..... wish we had MGW for the run in.

Heckingbottom is and 3 matches ago for the most part this was fine. Yeah some had expressed concern about some performances but no one was arguing about the results.

My thoughts are I’m totally confused as to how any United fan can fail to appreciate the job Paul Heckingbottom has done at the Lane since taking over.

My thoughts are also it’s only down to Paul Heckingbottom that we are in this position, 4 points clear with a game in hand, in the first place after the total shit show he took over.

My thoughts are also Chris Wilder would have turned the players against him by this stage anyway, blaming only them for the recent poor results.

My last thoughts are Chris Wilder would have walked by now, blaming everything from lack of investment from the top, to the players, to the training ground.

Paul Heckingbottom has done a tremendous job despite everything thrown against him.

So that’s my thoughts.

We’re very lucky to have him.

The Wilder promotion teams had a knack of winning big games. The games where as a United fan you "knew we would blow it" e.g. Boro, we would win. Would he do it with the current team? Not so sure.

Whilst I agree Paul is doing a good job in terms of getting us from point A to B

Paul is very very very lucky to have us , he was handed the best squad in the league last year and didn’t get us up from the play offs

A job that he didn’t deserve and was given because the prince couldn’t be bothered

And again another poster who only defines the wilder years to the last 3/4 months it’s quite sad really that those years are now remembered by that short period

True the managers have been frustrated with this current board but it didn't take long for his time at Boro to unravel. Wilder is demanding which is good up to a point but I can imagine he is quite toxic if he isn't getting what he wants. I think he is at a point in his career where his ego is probably getting in his way. It's quite surprising how often he has been overlooked for Championship jobs this season.

I like everything he did for us but it's clear the current Chris Wilder is not the same person who took us to the PL. As I have said repeatedly, the Wilder I thought I knew would have ridden relegation and made us go again. He didn't and it looked like he wanted to get out well before relegation was rubber stamped for career preservation.
