What is the reason Chris has become so passive? Why does he pour praise over the billions spent in the opposition teams and almost conceding the game before we start. What happened to going out the front door?

The old Chris wilder would have laughed at this submissive one.

I understand where you're coming from but in fairness to him, we haven't been blown away this season as of yet. Every team including Liverpool etc. have been battered at least once this season.

So many tight, 1 goal losses which, if it wasn't for the mistakes and gifted goals, could have gone our way as they were doing last season.

Think he's doing all he can with the players we've got who aren't injured (some of whom have fallen off a cliff in terms of performances).

He’d have laughed in League 1 if opposition managers had talked about our quality and ability to outspend them after we’d beaten them.......

Because we're not doing very well and he needs an excuse?

Last season we were overperforming so he didn't need an excuse.

A bit harsh. He had to change it as Ampadu couldn't play. His replacement Bryan gifted Chelsea a goal. I wouldn't necessarily blame it all on McBurnie, he did craft a brilliant chance for Burke in the first minute. Burke should be looking at Timo Werner and be thinking - thats how I should play and the standard I need to aspire to.
I don't think it matters too much if its mcb or sharp or an other up front, there are bigger problems with the shape and team selections elsewhere that prevent any of our strikers excelling.
I personally would like to see Chris be a bit more radical. Many times this season we haven't had the personnel to play 3 centre backs but time and again we have played a full back at left centre back and it has cost us every time.
Why not play 4 at the back and get more control in midfield and protect the defence better further up the field...
Chris needs to have a long hard look at this and his rigid tactics.

I can see the thinking tonight though. We won’t create masses of chances but Chelsea’s defensive line was naturally a lot higher than West Brom’s so going with Burke made sense. We saw that after just 30 seconds. If only Burke was a better finisher.....then again he wouldn’t be playing for us if he was.

Take your pick with who started next to him. He’s probably gone with McBurnie to hold the ball up as a target man....he really isn’t that type of player. I’ve got nothing against McBurnie like some have but he’s nowhere near as good at holding the ball up as Sharp or even McGoldrick is.

Let’s not forget, Sharp and McGoldrick are old in football terms. They didn’t necessarily always play Saturday, Tuesday in the championship and that was 2 years ago.

I agree to some extent but there is no substitute for confidence, I know we have problems especially in midfield and the service they provide but the fact remains we have been better recently without McBurnie and the team will play better and with more confidence off the back of a win. shouldn't have changed it up front!

I'd have started Didz if his legs allowed, but not Sharp, as I don't think he'd have had anything out of their defence and was better suited to come on off the bench (again, legs allowing)
 
What is infuriating is that when you see the team sheet and know that we have gone back to the tried and tested formation that contributed to the worst start in PL history, you just know it is a matter of time before the midfield get overrun and we get deeper and deeper until it almost inevitable that we go behind and then have to chase the game.

For fuks sake, we even did this in midweek and had to change to a more attacking formation which fortunately was enough to see us win it. I love CW but it is infuriating that he doesn't seem tk be able to get his head round the fact that we a few better as a team going on the front foot and playing with a AMC behind the front two. Whag do we have to lose now?

Theres a reason why we lose a lot of games by the odd goal. Its because we play deeper abd get punched back until we go behind, then with 20 to play he takes off Bash and puts on a forward in the hole that we can suddenly change the ethos of the previous 75 mins. Result..oppositions sit in and soak it up with general ease and we sleep walk to another defeat.

One day again, we might play on the front foot from the start and play to OUR advantage. But don't hold your breath though. CW has gone so defensive minded (form the start of games) and I can't work out why? Don't go gung ho, but at the same time have some balls and try and take it to the opposition before we go 1 down each game.

Is everyone around CW just a yes man? Do they not point this out that it might just might be an idea to go at teams from the start with 3 up top?
 



McB , Brewster , Berge & Ramsdale are an even bigger waste of £80m.
I am convinced that we never scouted them. Berge has an air of quality but is far too slow on the ground & non-existent in the air. The other 3 just don't look like useful footballers. You only have to watch Rammers from his very first game with us to know that he's not a confident GK. McB falls over his own legs & Brewster looks lost on the pitch. If I'd had the chance to watch them for a few games I would never have signed them. Maybe Berge was forced on CW but the other 3 ? Deary me !

That should be a game where we get a bit lucky for a goal (not like we're not due a few), get a point, and come away saying that we played alright against a very good Chelsea lineup.

Instead a player makes a mistake out of nowhere that throws the game. And it's another where it's not a "not good enough for the Prem" moment. It's a "that's fucking basic stuff that a League Two player should handle" pass back to the keeper.

I'm not deluding myself that we were great and that we matched them in terms of quality, but we'd still be walking away with a point. But no, we've lost again because one of our players blows up out of nowhere.

That was happening last year as well though. Can think of a few goals right at the very start of the first season where we just shot ourselves in the cock.

We haven’t learned from that and it really has caught up with us this season. I know Wilder has banged on about fine margins this seasons, and I know it’s not as simple as just that, but fuck me we never ever learn. The fact we’ve only just started playing with the same intensity this season means that the damage is already done.

Season's been done for a while, all I've wanted is to see us get some decent performances in and make a fight out of it. Last night was the story of our season. I find it hard to even have a go at them because in patches we were excellent. First twenty minutes we were on top, Bogle and Fleck both had moments of waltzing through their defence, we looked solid at the back bar a good Chelsea goal. But we can't really talk about any of that. I don't have the energy to defend the lads when they've thrown the game away. We turn wins into draws and draws into losses with our kamikaze play. Kean Bryan is way down the pecking order for a starting spot, and if he just isn't up to the Prem then I'd come on here and say that's not his fault, but then he makes an error so poor I don't even have an excuse for him. It's been a miserable season and I'm trying to do my best to back them, but ffs why do they have to make it so hard?

He's always been like it. Said it week in week out in the PL, win, lose or draw.

Even remember him saying Weds players were on 40 grand a week the first time we drew 0-0.

Just like any fan base in truth apart from most pundits and people in the game think we've suffered more than most by not having fans in.
 
Early on in the game I thought we were having a decent go and thought we were on top. Then the possession stats popped up and we'd had 28% and Chelsea were still in neutral.

Chris back in full cuckold mode.

I am getting sick of him blowing smoke up the arse of the other team regardless of the result of the match. He has been doing it for a while even when we have won games this season and it seems he is doing it to justify our lack of transfer activity.

Wilder probably has got little to say these days but he is sounding a bit Warnockesque, its great to be here playing against multi million pound players and I have a great group of lads. It would explain the resorting to hoof ball at times during the match yesterday.
