WILDER

Bloke can't help himself sometimes.

I'm behind him and the team, but accident or not, don't put yourself in that position. I'm sure it won't happen again but it shouldn't have been allowed to happen full stop. Sets an awful example to players for a start.
Why do you think we got fined half a million last season?

It was a definite penalty anyway - Coops nowhere near the ball and clumsily took out their man.
Doesn't need to be deliberate - clumsy will do for a penalty
I was on the kop and extremely close to it. Cooper pulled out of it and the player deliberately ran into him in almost slow motion. Striker played for it and the incompetent ref bought it

On the half time whistle wilder went out towards the referee , at that point I was thinking, here we go again .
He did however usher players down the tunnel but seamed determined to be last man off so he could approach the ref .

Think he reigned himself in to a degree, turned and booted the ball into the crowd as we know .

Point is he could have just gone down the tunnel, it was the waiting for the ref when clearly angry that resulted in the red card .

Yes it was accidental but just annoyingly avoidable.

Not sure he'll ever learn 🤔

Wilder is not setting a good example to the players. I presume he is also going to be banned for 3 matches. The owners were stupid to not get a good manager to replace him but are probably also feeling stupid for going back to him. I hope any fines that we incur this season will come off Wilder's pay rather than the club.

Rinse & repeat. Petulant, bad attitude and has broken under pressure again.

Half time.
The ball is dead at that point. The supporter has a good case for an assault on them.

Altogether now 'he's one of our own'

Why Chris? Just why??
Was needless and he should know better but assault? You sure your hatred of Wilder isn’t tainting your judgement?

With Wilder we take the rough with the smooth.
Yes tonight was fucking stupid, he’ll regret it and it will damage us in the short term.
But.. despite the daft shit we’re a better team with him in charge.
Yes we all know that we will need to move on eventually and find someone else to bring us success.
But, after 6 straight losses and looking completely abject and a certain for relegation, Wilder coming back will at least drag us up the league.
We won’t go down, we won’t go up. It’s just going to be one of those seasons

Cooper also pelted the ball into an advertising hoarding in the 2nd half in an act of petulance after he'd miscontrolled a ball and let it out for a corner.
If it had have hit someone in crowd, should he have been sent off? Would that have been "assault"?
Even the fact that it didn't, he still did the same thing as Wilder angrily kicking the ball in the direction of the crowd when play had stopped. Surely a red?

Given the quality of Cooper’s distribution I would imagine he was actually aiming at the crowd, but missed. So yes, should have been a red 😁

3 match touchline ban I think as a consequence - which won’t help the team.
Sorry if someone has already responded. But it’s a 1 match ban for a straight red. Following a review of the referees report, a regulatory commission could impose a longer ban if they think it should be classed as violent conduct, which I doubt.

Although not exactly after a ball booted to the face, it was a bizarre moment of frustration whatever that was aimed at. With the ball being where it was, I think his aim was to either boot it down the tunnel or even into the advertising boards but he got under it. If he picked the ball up and volleyed it into the crowd then you could say it was deliberate, accidental yes, pointless and stupid also yes. That in particular worthy of a red card for a manager I would say on balance no. However unsure if he said anything to the referee that warranted it and it could have been the case the comments caused the red card not the ball being kicked.

Assault?!

You kick a ball in frustration in England, and it hits somebody, in England, they want to put you in jail, in the Championship.

Not his biggest fan these days* but not much more than gormlessness (sp) imo. Assault? Sit down Rumpole. I’m sure he’ll do right by the guy.

* He keeps letting Cannon in the pitch

If it had been their manager who did it, we’d be baying for blood.

Whether it was an accident or not is irrelevant, it was completely needless and idiotic

I didn't see him do it but it's bizarre considering he was desperately trying to get Tanganga to stop bickering with the officials to avoid a card. 🤦‍♂️

Quite a stupid thing for Wilder to do, but wouldn’t put it down to much more than him just being idiotic. He didn’t do it with the intent of hitting him. He should be controlling himself, however.

That being said, I feel very bad for the older bloke that got hit by the ball. Hope he’s alright ❤️

I see Wilder wasn’t man enough to front the media , passing an opportunity to publically apologise, he instead sends Alan Corpse out. How vain is this man, lose and he’s straight off, win and he’s in every media outlet going 😡
You aren’t allowed when you’re sent off

Lashing out in frustration, but a ridiculous and stupid thing to do.
A terrible example to the team and will no doubt be castigated for it by every man and his dog.
But if you look at his face when the ‘referee’ gave him the red card, he knew all that himself and he knew he was in the wrong, and immediately accepted the red.
I’d be very surprised if he didn’t address all this himself and make a full and frank apology.
He’s just got to take whatever fallout on the chin, then get on with his job of getting the team up the league, hopefully in a more professional manner.

For kicking the ball at a hoarding in frustration!!! A red card???!?? FFS, it's a football match not a Chess match.

Can't believe we are discussing this, the guy was frustrated, as we all were. Wilder was brought in to stop the rot and keep us in this division which he will.
