Lawyers don't specialise in 'football ground accidents'

They specialise in how others actions have a direct and unwanted effect on others, putting it simply.

Where it takes place is, largely, irrelevant if it involves harm being caused to another.
Like a dog with a bone. It's almost as though you want something to come of this?

Cooper kicked the ball against the advertising board where I believe no fans are based, Mardy Wilder kicked it into a stand full of people where the odds on hitting someone are very short even with an odds boost.
Now I have seen the Wilder tufty club try and excuse this by saying you go to a football match there is a chance you are going to get hit by the ball. We'll yes there is but during the match most people are facing the pitch so have a chance to put their hands up to stop or catch the ball, when the Ref has blown for half time lots of people turn around and talk to people or look down at their phones not expecting a ball to come flying at them especially in the South Stand.

Ah, so you think Wilder deliberately kicked the ball into the crowd?

It was very silly, whether he meant to kick it against the advertising hoardings or not.

I like a manager and team who stick up for themselves but Wilder seems to have lost control of himself in the last 18 months or so and last season we saw that it clearly rubbed off on the players.

He needs to calm down, and set an example to the team. The last thing we need in this predicament is another set of fines and for the team to be racking up cards. I can't imagine that spending a lot of time with the likes of Wit off the field helps with his anger management either.

No.
I want
Our club to be professional
The excuses for immature behaviour to stop
The players to actually do what we know they can
Fans to be able to pay money and see a 'proper United performance'
A board to talk to us
Bettis to find his voice
Us out of the bottom three
Us above a club with more embargoes than we have points. Yes, that.

It starts and ends with the quality of the leadership.

That's the issue behind where we are

I want better. The fans deserve better.

Isn't that what we all want? Last night's result was disappointing but personally I believe I've seen steady improvement since Selles was sacked. It's not going to happen overnight. Wilder this time has inherited some sub standard players and he's trying to get the best out of them. Southampton were decent and we gave them a game. If COH scores at the beginning of the second half and the ref Isn't so inept we could have had another 3 points. I don't believe it's as gloomy as you and others make out. Wilder's actions were kneejerk and I'm sure he regrets it but calling it assault is pretty pathetic really. If it's a blame game you want look no further than the current owners and their inept pre season recruitment.

I suggest you read up on the law around assault today.

At it's lowest level, no physical harm or contact has to be made.

It's all there to be read.

You're 100% correct about the boards recruitment though, both on the pitch and in the dug out too.

Worth noting that some of the players on show last night were Wilders signings too.

I'll bow to your superior knowledge Petrocelli. As I'm sure you're aware my original point was about your badgering for something to come of it. Strange behaviour from a United supporter.

Fuck Will Still. The man got into management through playing Football Manager. Probably grew up in the library at school the fucking nerd. Love owt like Wilder twatting the ball. Imagine a world where we’re being managed by someone who can’t handle half a shandy?

Don't. Read up on it.

It's not strange behaviour at all. It's 'tired of the petulance and refusing to see very obvious problems through red and white specs' behaviour.

We're a laughing stock of a club right now.

Below S6 and their kids are showing more fight than our seasoned professionals.

The table doesn't lie.

Absolutely, what can he say, as leader of this group, if a hothead player does something daft, gets sent off and costs us 3 points? He can’t say anything, leaders should lead from the front and set examples for the team to follow.

Are they? I don't watch them unless we're playing them. I'll keep supporting the team and manager. You keep reading about how to bring an assault charge. The old lad that kopped it in the mush has probably received an apology and moved on. Pity you can't appear to do the same.

Bloke can't help himself sometimes.

I'm behind him and the team, but accident or not, don't put yourself in that position. I'm sure it won't happen again but it shouldn't have been allowed to happen full stop. Sets an awful example to players for a start.
I thought the same.A challenge to now hold any disciplinary sway with your players if your so ill disciplined yourself.

Engage brain,control emotions,not vice versa.

I imagine one or two players might be wondering if they find themselves in a cauldron of controversy, when all they want to do is play football.

Shit sticks and perhaps is one of the seemingly many reasons we'll never,by and large, be more than also rans.

If you read up on it you'd know straight away it is when you act to purposely injure or intimidate the victim.
Unless Wilder purposely kicked the ball at that man to hurt him, it is not assault.

With Wilder we take the rough with the smooth.
Yes tonight was fucking stupid, he’ll regret it and it will damage us in the short term.
But.. despite the daft shit we’re a better team with him in charge.
Yes we all know that we will need to move on eventually and find someone else to bring us success.
But, after 6 straight losses and looking completely abject and a certain for relegation, Wilder coming back will at least drag us up the league.
We won’t go down, we won’t go up. It’s just going to be one of those seasons
What smooth?There is none🤔

Unless our club fundamentally changes it's ways.

No idea why people are coming up with excuses for this.

Reckless, immature, and potentially even dangerous behaviour from the person supposed to be in charge.

Moving on from the kicking the ball into the crowd incident.

Wilder constantly telling us that a basic for a Blades player is 'to run around' is becoming a little tiring.

What I saw last night was our players unable to press theirs and Southampton being more than capable of pressing us.

We gave them all the time in the world to keep possession and play as they wished.

Our 'running around' is not really effective.
Nailed it mate. Couple who sit next to me, the wife kept asking why every time we get the ball they're in our face immediately, yet when they get the ball, we sit off and allow them space to think...

Would be a valid tactic if we came on strong in the last 20 mins, but last night they kept on relentlessly pressing whereas we visibly tired.

agree totally our midfield is the big problem with this team we miss vinny so much and every game this season our midfielders just give the opposition so much room

Section 47, Offences Against The Person Act 1861 - the act that covers assault legislation

'
  • Intent or Recklessness: The defendant can be guilty if they either intended to cause the victim to apprehend immediate unlawful violence, or if they acted recklessly and didn't care about the effect their actions would have on the victim.
Your legal knowledge is lacking I'm afraid.

And, I don't have to read up on it. Momentary loss of control is often the cause of one individual assaulting another, intentionally or recklessly, and it is irrelevant as to where the suspected offender was born or who they follow as a football club.

He let us down, again.

I don’t like Wilder much but saying it’s assault is very hyperbolic considering fans get hit with the ball most weeks. An apology and some merchandise freebies is all that incident requires.

He will still get a fine from the FA for the incident.
