He would because he set us up well over the years and is really pationate, we could always expect hard work under him which for fans I think is the main thing we want it's why we warmed to McBurnie and Robinson. Just don't see Selles being the manager under him. We would need a manager who makes players graft and fight, make us hard to beat.

I would get excited for wilder as DoF and Dyche as manager. They are mates and really mutually respect each other. Dyche a proven prem manager, Wilder proven pationate no mess blades fan who set us up well as a club over the year just could not consolidate us in the prem and sometimes made bad in game decisions or player "boring" football. But all of Wilder work has being undone by the new owners sadly.
Are there any other candidates, available managers who Wilder gets on with?

Can l ask if he does come back and doesn’t lead us to the promised land as quite a few have claimed he will, he definitely will, do we blame the shocking start, the signings, Cannon, Bettis individually, the owners as a whole or the haters on here undermining him?

At least Danny is back in the loop. I wonder who gave him the heads up?

I don't understand that, Wilder as a director of football and Selles still as manager? Because they have complete different philosophies so that won't work. Plus the owners won't want wilder as director of football because they got rid of him for selles "vertical" football.
The Star has also been told separately that COH are privately considering installing a football representative above the manager, in a technical director/director of football type role. It is currently unclear whether Wilder is being considered for such a role or the manager’s job

You know what................ I fuckin hate social media and football forums. The same old 30 or 40 people dominate this board and unfortunately are presumed to be the voice of the whole fanbase. Well you are not. Reading some of the threads on here is like watching a debate between Conservative Christians and Atheists. No arguments, however valid the points, will be listened to and accepted by the other party.

Many many of the fanbase, such as me, actually do look at things in a realistic and pragmatic way. Selles really should go and go now. Ideally we should have time to analyse the situation and bring in a successor to better fulfil the vision of the Owners. However, due to their sheer incompetence they do not have that privilege. Our season is in deep danger of being over before it has even began - then we will be in the deep and murky oceans of having a squad with a decreasing value and high wage commitment without the luxury of parachute payments. Then the real pain starts.

That is why Wilder is the man for the job now. Ok, I am on record as saying I was/am a Wilder fan but tentatively agreed that maybe it was time for a change in direction following the play off defeat. Well, look where that got us. We do not have the luxury of affording another gamble on an unproven manager - so either the Owners get another been there/done that type of manager - who???? or go for the safe option of Wilder who we all know will steady the ship - at least in the short/medium term.

Just a word of warning / caution to all the Wilder haters out there who got fed up of him moaning about starting last season on -2 , this time it's going to be -15
He's gonna have us top of league on his deranged nonsensical table he has in his office

Could you pin point what exactly a director of football is?

Over sees a general transfer blueprint or something else?

Obviously buying cheap selling for a maximum is the goal but isn't that just common sense?!
In charge of recruitment, philosophy and long term strategy. Essentially takes the off-field responsibilities from the head coach.

should have never let him go bet they regret it now he was the beating heart a kop legend and tufty he will always be our great blades gaffer,,utb..
all them who wanted him out bet your eating your words he was the best boss weever had hes such a great man i respecto

You have hit the nail on the head mate. I am a huge wilder fan, didn’t think he should have been sacked but agree despite the points total last season, we were fairly tough to watch at times and accepted that a change may have done us good.

The vast majority of blades I speak to are wilder fans with similar opinions. I completely understand those not in favour of him but the hate spouted is utterly bizarre in context with his overall reign and not indicative of the majority of fans in my opinion.

Not sure this forum is an accurate cross section of overall support. It’s a bit like trip advisor where only polar opposite opinions are posted and generally on here by the same people like you alluded to.

I’m not convinced that he is the right man to replace selles, however I am confident that we would finish at least mid table if he can back.

He would need to eat some humble pie and admit he got a lot wrong to be accepted by some fans as I fear a couple of bad results could lead to toxicity.

Wilder talk seems to gathering some momentum, it’s just been reported on TalkSPORT. Given the circumstances I’m all for a safe pair of hands taking charge, I’m terrified of the alternatives COH may consider.
Well said W.B.It makes good sense, forget promotion, just get up the table into a respectable position, if it's top half, who knows.

As someone just mentioned in the shoutbox - given the position we are in it's essential we get the appointment right. Presuming Selles goes, we'll be looking at relegation to L1 if the next man fails. Give it Wilder to the end of the season to restore stability and reset. After that, we can look at other options. I don't fancy another gamble now.

What makes anyone think that Wilder would be able to get us promoted? He’s got one Championship promotion on his CV, which was 6 years ago and has since failed to win promotion with Boro, Watford and us.

I just don’t get why anyone would want him back? Yes, he’s better than Selles, but that’s a very low bar. Surely we should be aiming to get someone in that’s better than Wilder?

Fucking hallelujah, this should have been done before Wilder went for the 2nd time.

Probably should have been done when he left the first time.

We’ve got to gamble! No promotion means no more parachute payments and we’re back into the midtable pack.

We need someone that can get us up, not midtable then reset. I fail to see how we can’t at least get someone that competent enough to get this squad to stay up! I reckon I could do that! So in that respect I don’t see that we’re gambling with relegation.
