Wilder

I think most weren't happy he came back?

I was happy he was reappointed as I felt the club needed the right person for the rebuild and he knows what is needed to be a Sheffield United player and challenge for promotion.

So FAR his recruitment has been spot on for me, further signings to come aswell. His record at signings below the PL is excellent aswell.

Also nearly every signing mentions CW chats and persuasion that made their decisions easy.

Anyone changed their opinion slightly?
My post from midweek.. glad it's been a good start.

Didnt get what wilder was doing when went to fans and put his hand waving to throat after clapping?

I didn't want him back. I wanted him to leave at the end of last season. One game isn't going to completely change my mind BUT....that was night and day from what I expected (dreaded) and what we actually got. Well played Chris, you could not have played this one any better. Now carry it on into the season.

I’d have wanted him to put Souttar straight in for Anel tonight after the horror show of last season. So huge credit to wilder for sticking with him because I wouldn’t have had the to balls and would’ve wanted to put the big unit in against Preston.

Having a very strong and solid defender like Gilchrist next to him really seemed to help anel tonight.

Lots of credit must go to him, I must say. I wasn’t sure if he could get us firing from the off, after last season and giving the difficult circumstances he’s been operating in all summer.

Still a long way to go, of course, but starting off like that when you consider all the shit that’s happened over the last year or so; the minus points, the dragging on of the takeover, switching to a totally new system and the very slow burning, high churn transfer window, really should not be underestimated!

We should, as things settle and he gets more time to work with the players, only improve.

I'll give him his dues, I'm glad he's finally dropped his old system and gone for something more modern and new. I just wish he'd tried this last season earlier before it was too late and pointless. His signings have been good, I can't fault any of them and I never thought O'Hare would stay in the Championship, let alone come to us.

Whats impressed me is not the quality signings not the change of system, which is progressive and was desperately needed but how he, and his staff have recharged the players, they must have been so low on confidence from last season and saw the squad decimated with a lot of big characters going, I thought that the amazing camaraderie that the team had was down to the players but clearly not, it comes from the manager because after the final whistle last night they were all laughing and joking and generally larking about, particularly hamer and ohare, and it was amazing to see and I'm sure that team spirit will make the difference

It was great last night to see how happy the team looked and the footage from the training ground in mid week showed a team really enjoying life and having a good laugh and larking about having fun . Such a contrast from last year and Wilder must take credit for this ,it must have been hard getting a positive mood running through the playing staff after last year . No I think we have a brill manager and have ALWAYS thought he was the man we needed to transform the squad . Rebuilding the team without any cash can not be easy but up till now surely no one can complain how he has gone about it .Now we want a strong SQUAD as well as a strong team . But please dont give him any bloody cash he can be dangerous with money in his pocket :)

Great result last night but let's not get carried away.

I've never been an advocate of constantly changing managers. I was as surprised as anyone when he returned to the club last December after being very disappointed he left in the first place. I can't really think of anyone else who I'd want to be managing the club anyway.

I think he's made some very shrewd signings and even if a couple don't work out, getting O'Hare and Moore alone is an achievement. It's Wilder that has to put in the hard work with these players, to persuade them this is the club for them, so credit to him.

I'm not sure we're promotion contenders and after last season, I'm not sure I want us to be! I am excited with the 'front four' of Moore, O'Hare, Hamer' and Brooks. We should see some entertaining games if nothing else.

Hopefully we can hold onto the players we've got, especially Hamer.

Is there anyone else you’d rather have as manager this season?
Not in a million years.

He is the best man for the job! And the best manager we can attract.

He plays the way we like. Look at the difference yesterday we are celebrating blocks and tackles. The standard has risen from last year and it’s much more exciting to see.

Refused the fist pumps and cheers at the end and just took the applause and walked away.

Think he knows there’s still work to be done and I am here to back that.
Think it’s more it was a bit cringey doing that with Hecky. Only ever use to see Klopp doing it as well.

Glad we don’t do it anymore.

We'll see what happens when something goes wrong in his head.
The outburst he had against the players on live TV after that night game against Hull City will go down like a lead balloon with these players, and unfortunately an outburst like that is always likely to happen if we don't play well
