Remember some folk are never appy.!

Its Disgusting how a manager who has been here since May, and is building a new team with limited funds has not built a championship winning side.
We have had various friendlys only a few weeks ago,two league games, and one cup game. Some of these players have been here for all of six weeks and were still not getting results. I think its perfectly normal for people to expect success in this very short period. United fans do anyway. I think we should have a cooling off period whereby if after a period 4 weeks we have still not built a winning side then the new manager should go. Also if we carry on with this procedure we could win the title of the club that has employed the most managers and players in a season . It would surely show all these stable clubs who have success on the field a thing or two. Its what team manager and social media is for........Yeh

We need

1 x GK - experienced
1 X CB Not convinced by Wright as a back-up or the starting CBs
1 x RB to replace Brayford who needs to be sold -
2 X CM one ot replace Basham and another for injuries. one permanent, one on loan
1 X RW Duffy doesn't seem to be able to play 90 minutes. Another young loanee in to come off he bench.
1 x CF - Need a pacy CF in on loan to play alongside Clarke if we play 4-4-2

It's going to be an interesting season without long term loans and we need better players and better depth

We're not going to sign 7 players. Just to manage your expectations.

Not having a single shot on target at Bolton and losing at home to L2 Crewe were good performances? Really?

Have expectations sunk that low?

I wasn't particularly commenting on the team's performances, more the reaction to them by some of our supporters. I just feel there is a huge overreaction to two defeats and a draw. I know we've been down here for too long but compared to last season, we look a much better side, not the finished article by a long way but a much better side with a much better management team in place to sort out the mess left by previous regimes. Somebody has even said "we are going down", totally ridiculous statement to make after two league games!

Our third game last year was the home win against Chesterfield. We haven't played as well yet as we played then. I will reserve judgment on "much better side" for the present.

Ah, the old 'but we have x number of new players. We can't expect them to be firing from the start and will improve in time'..... Always a classic.

Which makes perfect sense ofcourse, if every other team hadn't also signed new players. Why is it different for them? Bolton have a new team and new manager, they have bedded in ok. It's a great excuse to use for the eternal optimists, for the first 10 games anyway!

'It will get better'.... Ye, based on what exactly? No evidence, just pure hope.

Three of the things that stood out for me today were.
1/ Obviously we have narrowed the pitch.
2/ We have gone back to the old Blackwell tactic of all the players gathering in one small area at goal kicks.
3/ we couldn't string two passes together while they managed seven or eight .

If all this is down to not trying to holding the ball up, I'm not a fan.

Absolutely no evidence of that yesterday, nsb. What makes it worse is that, if you watch The Championship and Goal Rush on Channel 5, every single team you see appears more coherent, fitter and usually has at least one stand-out player. We don't.

And that may be the problem. It's all right saying we need 4, 5, 6 new players on top of the 8 we've already brought in. The problem isn't quantity it's quality. We seem to be spreading the available transfer money too thinly and the result was there for all to see. Wouldn't this money have been better spent on 2 or 3 proven players? I grieve when I see Kieran Agard going to MKD, O'Grady and McFadzean going to fucking Burton.

Be in no doubt, this stagnation we're seeing will cost us dearly in the future. Everybody knew about the gulf between the PL and Championship. There is now a similar gap between the Championship and Div. 3. The game has moved on. United haven't. You've only got to look at Barnsley to see how far we've fallen. They've got Tom Bradshaw, Adam Hammill, Sam Winnall and Conor Hourihane - any one of who would improve us.

Yes, it's only 2 games and on Tuesday we play Southend (bottom of the table). A 'guaranteed 3 points'? No such confidence can be given any more. This is followed by a trip to Millwall (null points) and a stern test at home to Oxford in the fifth game. I think most would agree that last season was pathetic - the lowest League finish since 1982-83. Last season we had 12 points after 5 games. How many points will we have after 5 games this season...?

Conor Hourihane - gone to Aston Villa. Only mentioning it because his name popped up a few times on various threads and posts.

I love a good thread we can look back on in hindsight. Some absolute gold in here. Good job were not in charge of a club or team!
Yeah, we'd have probably got relegated and ended up stuck in L1.
