The facts - bastard things that they are - show otherwise.
So it's not a fact that robsons championship team paid higher wages than Warnock premiership team ?
Or should I say had a higher wage ceiling
So for instance do.you believe that James beattie was on more or less than the 13 k a week jags was on before he left ?

It's highly unlikely Wolves will do anything other than join the 'big six'. The £170bn Fosun Group want them to be 'as big as Manchester City' (not as daft as it sounds - there are 60 cities in China bigger than Manchester).

Chinese companies have money until they don't. At some point, the pipeline will run dry.

We're talking about two different things I think mate.

I'm almost 100% sure that you're right in terms of the highest earner, or wage ceiling as you put it: Beattie surely earnt more in the championship than anyone did in the PL, and that accounts show that in the 07/08 season we spent more on wages.

In terms of budget though, factoring in transfer fees, Warnock's was bigger - which was the point I was trying to make.

Warnocks budget should have dwarfed robsons but it looks like most of it was held back for a rainy day (new manager in the championship )

Wasn’t the question about comparable budgets? Because player transfer fees are obviously relevant. No one doubts Robson was useless but remember Warnock has lumbered whoever took over after him with the wages of his “three for the future” three million “gamble”.

Do you think clubs were quoting less because Robson was manager ?

I'm not sure if the figures include any compensation.

The section on staff costs just breaks things down under 4 headings: wages and salaries, social security costs, pension costs, share based payment expense.

The combined totals for the two years are:
2006/7 - £22,421,000.
2007/8 - £24,988,000.

There is a section showing amortisation and impairment costs of player registrations: 2006/7 £4.8 million, 2007-8 £6.5 million. I think that is where a player's signing on fees etc are spread over the term of the contract, but I'm not an accountant, so not sure.

And there is something called Termination payments:
2006/7 - £950,000
2007/8 - £520,000
I suppose that might be it, but it doesn't specify to whom these payments went (players, staff or management).

There is also a heading showing profit on disposal of player registrations, which might be net amounts from transfers?
2006/7 - £661,000
2007/8 - £7,264,000

But I do find the accounts pretty difficult to read!

The note on staff wages (2008) showswages rose by around £750k in total. Three additional football staff and 16 nonfootball staff (averages throughout the year) would account for this.

Meltdown? Not a chance.
I live in Leicester -just been speaking to a LCFC S/T holder at work. When I mentioned Wilder, he just gave a quizzical look and said "Who??"
This is from my local rag, the Leicester Mercury - some of the usual suspects on the managerial merry-go-round...

A different discussion but yes, you'd argue that we should Have maximised the PL budget, in order to stay up.

The problem is I don't think McCabe trusted Warnock with the money, and who could blame him? Warnock's record in the market was poor.

I initially read your assertion that the club had only once made a profit throughout our history, guffawed and thought, I'll leave that one alone. Only because it's not correct though and I don't like to see old men cry :)

Anyway, now you've poked the bear....
For who spent what Red Wine Robbo or Colin, The transfer fee additions in 2006/2007 totalled £12, 058011. The following season £8,733733.

The wage figures were £20,774243 abd £21,553660.

Warnock therefore spent more.

Hope this helps. :) :) :)

I'll accept your transfer figures with good grace as it has to be said you do know what you're on about when it comes to this. However the disparity between yours and Chali's figures show that he was talking a load of bollocks. Overall there's about £2.5m between the two and considering the difference in leagues this figure makes even less sense.

Regarding the profit history I should have qualified this as in my lifetime as a supporter. That's not a backtrack, its the only part I have any knowledge (or memory) of and I wouldn't be in a position to comment on the earlier stuff.

Why would he leave a massive club like Newcastle for Leicester ,they are not in the same league potential wise.

More ambitious board than Newcastle perhaps? Newcastle might be a big club, but what have they achieved in recent (or any) history? And they won't achieve anything else whilever Ashley is there. So that for me, makes Leicester the bigger draw for a manager IMHO

If we're moving goalposts, take the Beattie fee and wages out and the difference is even more enlightening. But as you say, different discussion.

That's fair enough on both counts Snooty, but I don't see Chalis statements as being wrong. But you two can reprise that as you both wish.

You mean a figure I haven't suggested but FM has quoted wages of 2 or 3 times Jags 13k? £20k a week is over a million pa.
I wasn't talking about beattie though I was talking about Warnocks targets one of which was Benni McCarthy who wanted at least 3 times what we could pay

I'm not joining the dots here but how much would he have cost and why bother looking at someone you know you can't afford?

We coukd afford the fee, how are you supposed to know what wages he wants until you ask ?

Why would he go to Leicester when he's building something here which can be as big as Leicester or even bigger for the club he loves

I'm not saying he would, but hypothetically, LCFC could pay him more, offer a bigger budget and are an established PL team.

This for me. Especially if Stadler and Waldorf don't get their shit in one pile when things get to court.
