I agree with West Brom, but I think we'll be the pick of the bunch down as it stands. That may sound silly to some, but we've got a decent Championship team, we'll not have our squad ripped apart this summer as Fulham and Albion will, but they'll reinforce of course. I still think next season Albion and Fulham will be up there. Loans will no doubt prove essential. We could do with some good ones also like what Albion did with Harvey Barnes and Dwight Gayle. On paper they should have gone up that season but they had a poor manager.
 



I am convinced that Wilder created a Championship side in the third division and kept one in the Prem on purpose.
There is a lot to be said for bein a yo-yo club -As long s you can actually do it, of course.

West Brom did it for a long time, Norwich are headed that way, and it looks like Fulham are doing the same.

Incidentally I understand Fulham have recruitment issues not all that far off our frinds across the city....

I thought you could only have two domestic and two foreign loans? How have they managed eight?

Yet we outplayed West Brom twice, even if we contrived to lose the first one. The match winner was someone they don't own either. They also have their fair share of loans. Whilst I'd hardly say we are reliant on Ampadu.

Maximum of five loanees on the pitch at any one time isn't it? They have 7 loanees: Areola, Andersen, Aina, Lemina, Lookman, Loftus-Cheek and Maja.
 
If Wilder pops up at West Brom, good luck to him - his next appointment will be important if he's going to get a crack at an established Prem club although I suspect his demand to have full control of transfers will very much limit his chances.

TBF while I'll be interested to see how he does, I'm not really bothered. After 4 fantastic seasons I thought his performance over summer and this season was very poor. I certainly have no desire to see him return anytime soon.

Depends if you're talking Jamal Blackman or Mason Mount. One of these plays first team football now for their parent club, one probably never will.

I'm fairly sure that Fulham have started with more than 5 loans at times this season, like below. I don't know how they've done it as I thought they had too many loans but it must be legit. They'll be strong next season still, Mitrovic is good for 25 goals in the Championship for starters, and they're not short of a few bob, but it'll be a big reshuffle next season from this seasons team.

There's no restriction on the number of loan players from non English clubs you can play or register. You can loan a maximum of two players from other English clubs but no more than one from any single club. You can have no more than four loans from other English clubs in a season.

I knew the restrictions on domestic loans but Fulham having 77 loans from abroad just seemed wrong. But it'll cost them for next season as their loan players are their better players often.

The did the same thing two years ago though so it seems to be their "model"

It's harsh, but that is the reality. If you are earning the big bucks, you should, rightly, be judged on your current performance and your strategy for the future. CW's success over 4 years will ensure he has a place in the pantheon of our best managers, but there is no escaping the fact that he left us in a right old mess and made some very poor decisions, especially in the transfer market last summer.

Yep next season the likes of Bryan and the goalie will be put back into the first XI with a "get us back up lads". Its rubbish

I think it is on "NewsNow" where Palmer is regularly quoted saying such enlightened things as, "CW went because he was threatened with a DoF", "Why CW left the club", "A lot going on behind the scenes at BL", "A power struggle ....", etc., etc. Obviously a man in the know.
Thankfully, he does say we won't appoint Heckingbottom.

Summary
They commented how last seasons relegated teams (Norwich, Watford and Bournmouth) have all done really well this season in the Championship.
They suggested that theres a massive difference in standard between the PL and the Championship....and it looks fairly weak next season.
Their prediction was WBA should end up champions and eventhough Fulham and Sheff Utd are in turmoil...if both clubs gets their act together then both stand a realistic chance of promotion next season. They took the piss out of our low scoring record and said the next manager appointment for Sheff Utd is key.

Then one of them said he’s recently spoken to Alan Biggs who revealed that he has it on good authority that Wilder is prepared to return to Sheff Utd.
They said if that did happen then you would think it improves our chances for a return.
