I think im Wilder out. I cant imagine us making any meaningful progress on or off the pitch while he is here. His lack of tactics is there to see now, he doesnt seem to be able to build the rapport with the players that squeezed that extra bit of something out of them.

Ill be happy when Sinclair is saying " one of our own Chrissy Wilder is in attendance today" we can all give him a clap and he can just be a Blade.

Bring in a DoF and lets enter 2026.
But who is in?

It’s easy to say Wilder out.

Plenty were Warnock out at the end but if they knew it was Robbo in they’d soon have been backtracking.

What is meaningful progress this season? A far smaller wage budget, a 15n transfer surplus, yet if we don’t get automatics then that’s failure.

Rather than being anecdotal so that we can measure him, what is progress for you this season? Finishing same as last year but on a much smaller budget? Top 10? Top 8? 6? 2?

If you’re setting a goal surely you have to put it out there then judge him as a success or failure otherwise you just leave it open to pick one fault and say because of that he failed me…

I’ll say I think he can get up top 8 and that will be a success or failure- it’s 5 places higher and a lower budget and monies raised.

I mean progress at all with him, all I can see is us sliding backwards with him. I dont have a clue who can get a tune out of us but we need to switch up how we are approaching transfers and the revolving door of same names year in and out. I wouldnt sack him tomorrow but we need to start looking ahead and pass him now.

We HAVE to move on from him at some point, how much worse does it have to get before people realise we’re only going backwards while he’s here?

Ultimately it’s the owners fault for giving him and Bettis so much freedom to run the club like their own pub team, if your only reason to keep him is ‘someone else might be worse’ it’s not exactly a ringing endorsement of his performance is it?

I'm just sick of listening to him.

^^^^^^^^
Absolutely this. We must be the only fanbase that fear a change when the current manager is so bad. What if we’d never sacked Adrian Heath, Micky Adams & Nigel Adkins??? We can’t go on being sh*t scared.

It’s also very easy to defend a manager by asking who the replacement should be.

With how this transfer window has gone there's only one criteria and that has to be simply don't get relegated, reduce the wages and take what we can in transfers monies to plug the financial issues. Nothing more, nothing less.

“Plenty were Warnock out at the end but if they knew it was Robbo in they’d soon have been backtracking”

That’s not really the case is it? Yes there were plenty who wanted to stick with Colin but the appointment of the disastrous Red Wine Robbo wouldn’t have had many who did want Warnock out backtracking to keep him.

Yes you put it that way, I understand what you mean. I was more referring to if you knew the replacement was to be Robbo wouldn’t they have been so annti-Warnock? Of course they could have got someone else. He needed Venables to come along and save him at Boro.

I remember being hugely disappointed when Robson arrived. Then again I remember dropping a note to Terry Robinson proposing Chris Coleman. He did well at Wales but has a pretty nomadic career outside of that.

I think the only other appointments I remember wanting were Dave Bassett when he arrived and I wanted us to go for Mark Robbins when we appointed Danny Wilson. Probably Wilder as well though those first 4 games were a little testing, I don’t think I was one who threw any toys.

Always difficult, there are no guarantees but often is very clear some managers won’t fit. Micky Adams sounded out of his depth from day one. We appointed him over Eddie Howe.

Focus on Wilder is wrong. With Bettis & these owners any new manager has no chance so we all need to give Bettis pelters if he dares show his face in Tuesday.

His subs on this occasion seemed logical to me to be quite honest. I’m not saying they turned the game but made sense at the time.

I thought first off the selection was wrong. McGuinness and Baptiste had just played 90 together at Blackburn in a good away win and a good away performance conceding only a worldy. I can appreciate the desire to restore Tanganga there but given the absence of , and Tanganga having played 22 times at right back for Spurs, he should have started there and it would have killed most of their offense down that side. Baptiste is 1.91m and McGuinness 1.94m, they were more qualified than Japh, at 1.84m, to deal with their big lump up front anyway.

I also thought 4-4-2 is too open to play away from home but with BBD only just arrived, Oné and Chong injured, not easy to fashion a proper 4-2-3-1 this week.

It took the first half and then uncharacteristically he made two changes as early as half time.

He switched to 3-5-1-1. In came Shackleton at RWB where he probably thought it would ask too much of Donovan defensively and in came Phillips for Bamford who, assist aside, had drifted out of the game. I understood this. Could Doherty have come in? Maybe or perhaps wing back is asking a lot of a 34 year old building up match action?

As the game went on he brought on Riedewald to give us more solidity given Rothwell’s passing game was off anyway. He then decided to give the defence more natural balance and brought on Norrington-Davies on the left hoping that would add a player who could carry the ball forward, and on a few occasions he did.

With Cannon ploughing a lone furrow, it was only a matter of time until her introduced Brereton-Diaz.

Now it doesn’t explain why we kept turning the ball over through unforced errors and one of our most popular players, O’Hare, did that frequently, but I sidnt sit there thinking “why’s he done that?”.

That’s just my 2 cents anyway.
And the O'Hare comment was spot on!
How does team selection, tactics coaching (or lack of it!) cause a pro footballer to become unable to pass a football about 10 yards accurately??

Mentally sloppy. Which the manager and coaches should be addressing.

We are also far too easy to close down, such is the pedestrian and ponderous nature of our squad, resulting in players constantly being under pressure and turning over possession.

Focus on Wilder is justified

He's been here, on and off, for coming up 10 years.

His fingerprints have been all over the club in that time.

We had a hell of a ride 16-21, then things have gone rather sour, with him and Bettis partnered up for much of it.

He had his day in the sun and since has been fortunate to have owners who knew little about football or, it turns out, football finance and long term planning.

Loved the great times but he's in there for taking responsibility too.

5 years ago I didnt think we would be back in this place again. I genuinely thought we would build something that would turn us into a Crystal Palace type club.

However we have downgraded on players as each window passes, and I have lost all faith in the owners and management to run a club, and sign assets and a team that can be competitive at the top half of this division.

I don’t know the ratio but how many managers have we been through to get one successful one? Having some money would help but when we do we end up wasting it both of our foreign managers didn’t even last a season, Hecky wasn’t backed luckily we had a decent squad and he more or less took over where Wilder had left off. It’ll be the first time in 6 years that we haven’t had ‘enhanced’ money through PL tv income or parachute payments mixed in with these owners it’s safe to say we’re in quite a predicament.

We have to keep with Wilder I think unless we absolutely flounder near the bottom. These problems we have at the moment as a club are not of his making. Our useless owners have dropped him and all us fans in it. How many times have I thought that over 67 years of watching the Blades!! Too many is the answer. I would settle for a top half finish this season and hope the ownership issue doesn't cost us a points deduction. However, until this window ends and we know where we stand I think we just have to grin and bear it. It can't be much fun for the players either with all this background noise.

Errr, I beg to fkin differ!!!

Can genuinely see a 10 year cycle of him finally getting us out of league 1, the peak of the mountain getting us to finish 9th in the Prem and then the upcoming car crash back into league 1. Just typical Sheffield United mentality “well the last appointment was bad” - let’s never move on then and just hope we have another Sheffield born bloke who can sort us out.

Yes the owners are shafting us but the football we’ve been watching in this stint (I’m including the 92 point season in that too) has been fucking dogshit. We’re so boring to watch but people are so far up Wilders arse they can’t see it, replace his name with anyone else and everyone would want him gone. Over the roughly 96 signings he’s made I count around 44 as failures. Not good enough.
