Wilder on next season

Agree, I trust the man with the whole club top to bottom, he's another Brian Clough, thats how high I rate him, but I just thought the players didn't deserve reminding where they came from, they've run thier blood to piss for him and we've all watched it, we should be celebrating a top ten finish with a relegation side according to the pundits, it's gone a bit flat since that press conference.

But I stress that's my opinion, I respect everybody else's, even if they chose to mock or play the poster.
Let's hope we can bring back some excitement at St Mary's. Felt a bit flat for me too but maybe us Sheff'lders can be a bit hyper critical when we're disappointed by events, Chris included.
I do find him a bit mardy sometimes and think maybe he could save it for the dressing room. He wears his heart on his sleeve and seems respected by most in the game for that.
On balance I prefer that than a manager who pays lip service.
I shall be celebrating an amazing season, slightly tarnished by Covid and phookin VAR.
When was the last time we witnessed 4 consecutive seasons as entertaining as the last 4. I don't see it changing next. The bar will be raised yet again. These are THE days.

Appreciate that.

The last window was unsettling for Sharp in particular. He admitted so himself.

Be gobsmacked if there wasn’t interest again as previous. Same for Didsy. 2 yr contract does little more than secure us a modest transfer fee or, more realistically, allow a free in recognition of stellar service so the individual can negotiate a better contract, as both will be nearing the last one they ever sign.

No way will Didzy be moved on next season. We are a far far better team with him in it but I think we'll try and sign his long term replacement this summer so he'll have to rotate potentially unless his replacement comes in and smashes it from day one.

As much as it pains me to say it Sharp isn't the answer anymore and looks miles out of his depth whenever he plays.

Can't see Bash, Egan or O'Connell leaving, I think the players he's referring too are more likely to be on the fringes, Callum Robinson, Luke Freeman, etc, and Lundstram because he's fucking us about.

Good players that will attract offers lower down, Lundstram might get in at a Prem team.

Obviously there'll be offers for our CBs but they're irreplaceable on a budget imo, they're so integral to what we do that if either Bash or JOC went it's new system time or pay huge money.

I'd go

OUT (for money)
Moose (by the looks of things, hope not)
Lunny
Freeman, L
Robinson, C (can see Norwich going for him)
Moore

LOANED
Eastwood
Dewhurst
Slater etc

IN
Swift
Number 1 GK
Striker (quite expensive)
Striker (punt)
RWB
RB
CB
Zivkovic again?
DM/Utility MF
Number 10
Can't see 10 incoming signings lol.

Watford would have been relegated by January had it not been for Foster so he is a priority if Hendo goes. Then a creative midfielder and a striker in the mould of Jimmy Greaves...not worried about the defence

Watford have just signed him up again though, so they'll want somewhat decent money.

I would get Foster in for a season or two and use the rest of the money to strengthen our strike force and midfield providing Hendo doesn't come back.

Lunny is looking to get that life affirming contract, the one that means he will be set up for life if he’s clever with his money.

No players will get those kinds of deals at Sheff Utd at the moment, and for me he’s trying to force an issue and make a stake based on the first 15 games of the season.
Sadly he wasn’t able to maintain that, but should be working to get himself back to that level and showing his worth. His age is good there’s still time, but getting a move elsewhere and later finding himself not working there might see a downward spiral.

For me, I don’t understand the theory of chasing the money and risking losing what you have.

I can see the logic I suppose but it doesn’t necessarily mean that. Selling Egan this summer may be what’s best for the club if Wilder believes he won’t get a better price for him and/or he knows where he could spend the money.
Egan will be our captain next season

I agree on your sentiments but strikers in the mould of Jimmy Greaves are few and far between these days (and very expensive!).

I thought I'd have a look at a couple of mid table competitors with similar goal scoring records.
both Everton and Burnley have 2 forwards who've significantly outscored us, but perhaps they have played many more minutes as the United forwards are playing multiple roles and get hooked early. We get more from midfield, but that might reflect our playing style and formation. For me, we need a goalie and a forward who can stretch teams and knows where the goal is - Mouse but consistent please.
