Wilder on next season

I can see the logic I suppose but it doesn’t necessarily mean that. Selling Egan this summer may be what’s best for the club if Wilder believes he won’t get a better price for him and/or he knows where he could spend the money.

If Egan goes then we are fucked.

Let's be honest, if the Saudis complete the takeover, Bruce's successor is not going to want Bash. He's very much a back 3 cb too.

Lundstram, Bash, Moore and Bryan are the only ones whos contracts end next summer.

Moore will deffo be gone this summer (Fodderingham signing)
Bryan will be released

If a decent fee came in for Lunny I’d let him go. We’ll make a big profit on him and I’m confident we can get better at a cheaper price.

Would be gutted if Bash left, my POTS, and is so under rated. However I can understand the club not wanting to give him a 3 year deal at 32.

Surprised people have missed the bit about raising funds..

Won’t be a popular take but with Osborns performances since coming in and Flecks season today I think Fleck may have a few suitors and could very well be sacrificed for the good of the squad.

True, what Dyche has achieved is incredible. Though even Burnley have a wage bill 3x larger than ours if this table is correct: https://www.spotrac.com/epl/payroll/

That's what happens the longer you're in this league.
You have no choice but to keep increasing players wages as close as possible to the PL average, otherwise, you can't keep them.

Basham and Lundstram have spend the majority of their careers in the lower leagues, and after just 1 good season at PL level are looking to leave if they don't get a contract they feel they deserve.

It's so tough.
If you actually look at the combined spending of transfers and salary this season. Burnley have spend less, at around £52 million compared to Blades £79 millon.
Quite a big difference, and i'd expect Blades transfer fees to be lower over the coming seasons, but the salary increase quite a bit.

Can’t see it, he’s just bought a new house and reckon if he was for sale he’d have an idea about it. Reckon JOC is more likely, as would demand a bigger fee

I can't prove this but the evidence (looking at club accounts) suggests those numbers are unmitigated bollocks. For example Burnley's wage bill last season (for the entire payroll) was 86 million quid, as I say it may be that only £37m of that was on players but I highly doubt it.

What do you think is a realistic price for him?

Definitely Lunny and Bash. Be so disappointing if the latter goes.
It will bit Jeni's the oldest player in the 1st team as great as he is we need a replacement asap

where has he bought a new house though? Do we know? JOC is integral to how we play we looked lost without him and Fleck has no the other hand shouldn’t be in the starting 11. And don’t get me wrong I think he’s had a great season

I see your point but if a player lets an agent do all the talking and then the deal doesn't get done because of the demands of the agent, on behalf of the player, than the player is complicit as far as I'm concerned. I wish we were back in the late 80's when players agents were a rarity or players had their dad talking on behalf of a players like sir Bob Booker!

If Bash leaves it'll be a shock though because I just didn't see that coming.

If Bash leaves it will be because he gets offered a three year contract nearer to his home methinks

Did you watch the game tonight? Fleck is twice the player Osborn is no disrespect to Osborn but the difference in quality was stark

<BBC ;Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder says he is proud of what his side have achieved over the season but admits they need to strengthen over the summer following their 1-0 defeat to Everton.

Good to hear!

I hope so because we have the best manager in the league pound for pound in Wilder the Prince would be mad not to back him.

But from what the Prince has done so far no one can argue that he hasn't backed him.

22m on Berge and 20m on McBurnie I was absolutely amazed when we signed them both for those fees especially as it was unheard of for our club but we are looking forward and not backwards.

And with Chris Wilder as manager at the club who knows where we can go from here.

Egan has two more years to go on his contract. It runs to 2022.

I think we opened talks with Egan around Christmas though, so I wouldn't rule it out.

Basham is definitely one of the players being referred to, the second I saw the Burnley & Newcastle links in the paper I could smell the Agent doing his work.

They're realistically the two best clubs he could possibly hope to move from us to.

It'd be a shame to lose Basham, he's been so important to us. I assume he's after similar money to Egan & JOC, or a 3 year deal & we're unwilling to commit to those terms based on his age & lack of re-sale value. I'd be sad to see him leave, really sad.

I want him to finish his career as a legend with us but we have to trust Wilder's valuations of his own players relative to our budget.

Oddly, I think replacing Egan would be easier given his more conventional role in our system.

I did and I agree Fleck is quality and I wouldn’t want to lose him. I just take from that Wilder quote that we may cash in on a player or two. Fleck being the most obvious imo.

Yeah good find - football accounting is really messy, but the 86m looks right for Burnley in those accounts. This site says we were 41m last season, but with lots of bonuses (we were 20m the year before).

Booted up FM20 which guesstimates us spending 497k per week on wages
vs. Burnley 983k per week
Villa shows as 1.16m per week!

Would be very surprised if Bash left , he’s 32 yrs old so would be very surprised another club coming in with a big offer , only other scenario I think for him going is that if he wasn’t offered a long enough contract which again I’d be surprised if this want offers to him .
Lunny a bit like Moose had a good first half of season but hasn’t been anywhere near that level 2nd half of the season , if the reports are correct around wanting a large wage increase then I think he be one that is sold to fund rebuilding .
As players contracts come up for renewal then obviously the greater your wage bill gets the trick is knowing when to move someone on .
I’d like to see us try and bring some of our own young players through & given a chance to perform also
