Wilder odds to barnsley

Hi, Stegosaurus here

Why would Barnsley, or any team want him?

Other than fluking onto a great tactic with the overlapping centerbacks (I give Knill more credit for that one), he's been continously shit.

He spaffed millions up the wall on shit, lost the lockerroom with his inane comments after the Leicester match, lost the lockeroom further by insisting on picking Lundstram solely because he went viral for being a good pick on Fantasy Premier League and then didn't have a clue once teams realised how to combat the overlapping centerbacks and realised all they have to do to get past Egan is kick the ball over his head.

Was shit at Middlesbrough, was shit at Watford.
He's been successful everuywhere he's been, up until leaving us.

As a pig fan who's younger than Yoda, you probably need to Google "success".

If “Dun’t sign no foreigners he does” translates as “He doesn’t sign any foreign players” then explain Sander “He’s Norwegian” Berge. Thanks awfully old chap.
Not a Wilder signing

It might be an age issue on my part, but I’m sure I remember CW meeting Berge and then showing him the city..

And there's also Mousset and Besic but let's not let facts get in the way of someone externalising their internal angst against a pantomime villain.

Of all the faults people sling at r'Chris has, that one is particularly ridiculous.

If people mentioned his ego, lack of self-awareness with zero emotional intelligence, then they might have a better case.. But that's not as much fun!

If I was CW I would be trying to get into the act of going over to Saudi Arabia and the big bucks. Top up that pension pot substantially, learn from a different league and about different players, and a new life experience. Then if/when he's had enough of that he will be ready to come back to English football and to give it another crack. Maybe he just needs time to refresh / reinvent himself and if he is successful overseas in say Saudi Arabia it would only make him a better manager and more experienced.

I would love to see CW come back to the Lane one day as manager on the provision that he has learnt some humility and is more open to looking at his own failings and willing to change things if they aren't working. The continued playing of fucking Lunny being a prime example of where he was willing to cut his nose off to be stubborn. That (irrespective of what your thoughts are on his severance pay off and angling for new contracts every season) is the real bug bare of mine with CW.

Would still love to see a 'better' CW back at the Lane one day though. Not yet though as it's PH bag at the moment and if anything changes there for any reason (hopefully not) then I would prefer the club to look at Nick Montgomery for a potential choice.

Betting odds for managers seems to be the most risky of all football bets. I'd go as far as saying they are mostly nonsense. He was odds on for Reading a few weeks ago. They are currently fighting HMRC...

Unfortunately for him, CW's stock has fallen considerably following his departure from Utd - how that played out, some of his behaviours whilst in post, his reigns at M'boro (even with an initial bounce when he first joined) and Watford will not have gone unnoticed.

He is not a big name nor was he a well known player outside of England (2 factors in Gerrard's favour) so I doubt he'll receive big offers from abroad. I would have thought he's a low Champ level now - I was surprised he was apparently up for taking the Reading job given their L1 status and financial challenges. I actually thought Swansea would be a good fit for him but he doesn't seem to have been in contention.

A shame as he's a good bloke (I remember him well from Bradway (until he signed John Beresford!)). I hop he's not lost what made him so good - great motivation and clever tactics.

He'll go to a saudi club and then sign McBurnie, Berge & Brewster for £600m 🤞

If Chris and HRH had not arrived when they did and Kevin was still in charge, would we still be having bad luck every season and playing in the 3rd ..
Just a thought...

Billionaire owners, reyt up CW’s street to waste their cash on “home grown” players ie no Jonny foreigners

This shouldnt be a surprise - the board at oakwell are hands on or control freaks depending on your view. Was never going to be a fit with CW
