On Burke not being involved...

“It’s tactical. Oli Mac would have played today, unfortunate that he had tonsillitis and was kept away for four days.
There’s not much grass in behind when Chelsea go 2-1 up, they sit a little bit deeper and pace is not needed. Something else is needed and in my opinion Oli has done well against Liverpool and Man City.
The service the boys at the top are getting is not great.”
done well? he's a striker and he's meant to score goals, he aint looked like scoring all season

True. I don't want to see that either. I want us to get back to playing football like last season. But even when we do hoof it, Didzy is still a better target than McBurnie.
I really wanted him to do well but he's just a fucking terrible liability of a player. Even last season when he was confident and we were winning, he was still a terrible finisher.

If Swansea get promoted we at least might have a chance of off-loading him and recouping some of our outlay.

UTB
Are or will Swansea be that stupid after missing the bullet by getting rid of him in the first place?
Therefore, it's run down the contract, sell at a loss or pay off. Certainly needs to go.

Saying we have just played against some of the best players in the world isnt bull shit though...it’s factual and facing reality.
Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea all have a decent chance of winning the Champions League.

If he tells the media we should be taking points off these teams....most people (including the players) will think he’s delusional.

Lets take Atalanta....one of the best open attacking sides in Europe. They don’t defend and always take the game to the oppostion.
This week they play Liverpool who just pick them off on the break......score line Atalanta 0 Liverpool 5

Now let’s take Athletico Madrid in both legs against Liverpool....they defend in numbers and play a negative style....initially no ambition.
However their defence is like a wall and they know that at some point they’ll be able to counter attack..and try to take their chance.
Liverpool hate playing that style (like a game of chess) and lose to Athletico. They much prefer an open attacking game.
So, what? 10 men behind the ball and wave the white flag whenever we come up against a team with more expensive players? That’s pretty much every team. And I’m holding Wilder to what HE said last year about ignoring reputations, going after teams and not leaving by the back door. Now it’s nothing but worldclass this, can’t compete that. It’s complete bollocks, counterproductive, demoralising, making our team perpetually shit themselves at the sight of nearly every side. Everyone can see it except those that have to turn everything into who’s a bigger blade, even if it means saying something utterly daft.

The Burke one is a mystery, is he carrying a knock or something?

It's not just his pace, although that is a great thing to have of course, it's the fact that he is fast and built like a small tank, similar to Mousse when he arrived here.

It's not just his speed, it's the fact that defenders won't be able to stop him, and will have to bring him down or grab his shirt, and hopefully get us free kicks (or penalties if lucky) in good places.

Question to the apparently more positive lot. We are currently wank if highlighting this and why its the case is downing chips what are we supposed to do just mindlessly clap at our TV screens or some shit?

Its not about being a bigger blade just a bigger man
What has being a bigger man got to do with anything? Meaningless platitudes. He took the lorry-loads of praise when we were on the rise, what’s the difference now we are putting in dreadful performances? I don’t want him to go, I want him to wake up to the glaringly obvious issues he has ignored for months, I want him to make fundamental changes, I want him
to try a different system and stop trying the same thing over and over, and most importantly I want him to puff his chest out and stop with this defeatist narrative.

I was talking about me

Where is the real Chris Wilder? The one we have had for the last few matches looks his double but everything else seems to have changed. I'm really worried as the side we see of him now is one I don't recognise. A defeatist, almost resigned to losing, inferior to the opposition demeanour with a reluctance to change things. When the chips have been down previously he has been the one to remain positive and upbeat, instilling a "go get 'em" attitude into his troops. As things have slowly gone against us, game by game, I have seen that enthusiasm draining from him. Whether it's the bad officiating, long term injuries, ghost goals, whatever. Come on Chris, you can turn this around.

They've all got good players, we knew that last season as well but we didn't give a toss

It's looking more and more like he's lost his bottle and that is being filtered down to the team

I'm getting very worried for him, the wrong signs, the wrong words, the wrong comments, the wrong body language and a face like a slapped arse, even before lockdown.

Whatever pressures he's been feeling, he's not making any attempt at all to hide it and the team are mirroring his mood and image just as much as they were during the good times.

Exactly, in his limited time on the pitch he almost got Luiz sent off and skinned Wijnaldum like he wasn't even there and created a shooting opportunity.

What has McB done this season that's even close to having the same impact???

The speed at which this forum has turned on Wilder is astonishing!
I'm not turning on CW at all. He has got us where we are at the moment and that should always be remembered. He has improved our entire club beyond belief in no time at all. He'll always be a legend in my eyes.

But the 'astonishing speed of turning' you allude to also applies to Chris himself and the mentality of the players, which has fallen off a cliff. Last year we feared no one. This season we shit our pants as soon as we play anyone that shows some talent and (in Chelsea's case, yesterday) a great work rate.

The games between now and Christmas are his biggest test. I also don't appreciate being told (indirectly) that I'm not actually seeing what I'm seeing, and that the players are just as strong as they were last season. They clearly aren't and the lads that have come in clearly aren't an improvement, either. I don't mind that, but just get back to telling us how it really is rather than making crap excuses and telling us how we can't now compete with teams we were beating last season.

“...What do you do then? Do you open up and risk it being six or seven or stay compact?”
Maybe replace your injured centre half in the summer instead of concentrating on 2 full backs. Maybe sort the striker situation earlier instead of haggling & then panic buying a 20 year old at an inflated price.
Maybe spend some of the last 3 years training someone to play as left side overlapping CH on the off chance JOC gets injured for long period. After all it is a position unique to us & how we identify.

Just a side note: anyone else wonder why we spent considerable money on Lowe when Norrington-Davis who at 20yrs is ripping it up at Luton & playing for Wales???

Good point on N-D. Our academy should have been a help with this injury setup as I would image youth teams deploy a similar system to the first team?

I still don't think it's too late. I still think we can do this and stay up.

But if CW thinks that McBurnie is the center-forward that's going to lead us to safety, we might just as well accept that we'll be in the Championship next season and be done with it. I was genuinely happy tonight when I saw the team. At least 'we'd have to keep it on the deck and play football'. We have a chance that way.

McBurnie is slow of thought, limited in any kind of ability, has a terrible touch, and is a terrible finisher at this level. We know how good CWAK are but if we are pinning our hopes on this clown, then CW is taking a huge step back IMO.

UTB
Yes but we’ve bought these players to give us at least crumb of a chance of going toe to toe with Man City and Chelsea. Our Chris is starting sound a little bit like Neil (nothing for us here) Warnock......We all know how that ended up.

I like McBurnie, but i’d like to see Burke get a run out at some point 👍🏻

Who’s got bingo??

“It’s been tough over last run of games, four out of the top six, three out of the top three best in the country and Chelsea bang in form
World class players, sometimes people don’t realise the competition we are up against - these are world-class players Giroud and Jorginho coming off the bench.”
What did he say that wasn’t true ?, whilst it is getting a bit repetitive it isn’t wrong
