Wilder just ‘gets it’

Agree, but probably not the night for singling Arblaster out for praise.
Not one of his better performances, nor Souza. Both did OK without the ball, but struggled to get any control of the middle of the park.

Neither player should be undropable within games. Hamer can move centrally as we have plenty of wide options.
I thought blaster was really good although I agree we didn’t control the midfield. However, his calmness stood out, I don’t think he lost possession much either. However, it was going back the other way that I thought he showed a gritty determined side and also awareness of where to be. He cut out several attacks and seemed to be regularly in the way when they came forward.

That feeling around the supporters was definitely there on Friday night, the buzz is definitely coming back as well as a sense of optimism. It obviously wasn't there last season but even the two seasons before that (when we were generally winning), it was missing. That is largely down to Chris Wilder.

It's one of the main reasons I wanted him back, in the hope he could recreate that togetherness and buzz around the place. It's one of those things that's hard to explain to people who don't go to games, and even those that only go to home games to an extent, so it will take a lot more to convince some of those fans that he's the right man for the job.

It’s something we never had with Hecky, in a weird way. And I never understood why beside the fact that the football was largely very dull. But I just didn’t feel like I do now.

I think his passing has been good in most games, but for some reason his radar was off last night, even for short passes at times. He was the same in the first half against Preston, but improved over the course of the match.
Souza slipped one in between the central defenders on Friday,2nd half,it gave Brewster a 1on 1 with the keeper,Brewster went the other way! Souza fucked him big style. He tries the Hollywood ball a little sometimes and doesn’t come off and also the blind ball ‘around the corner ‘ . Cut them out and he’s very effective.

Just wondered where all the Wilder haters are? I'm sure they will be back when we draw or god forbid lose a match. 🤣
Haters ?? A ridiculous word. I didn’t want him back and he was clueless last season. Move forward and they have brought in decent players with great potential, some academy players are stepping up,still some square pegs in round holes but we are doing ok . 5 matches in and the opposition has been mediocre but you can only beat what’s in front of you. After Boro and Leeds away are the next assessment.

When I was at school I hated metalwork and spent the whole class trying not to actually do any metalwork. Eventually the teacher worked out my tactics.

'Sanguine Blade, I have observed a scientific phenomenon. I noticed that wherever I am at the bench when I'm checking work you are always at the furthest point from where I am stood. I put my theory to the test and observed that when I moved to my left you also moved to your left and when I moved to my right you also moved to your own right and that no matter how often I moved or how erratically I moved I never get any closer to checking your work...

Brewster also uses this technique in relation to the ball.

Good observation, now go to the back of the class. 😉

Should give him a start .... that'd be a good test of his mettle ;)

It’s been a decent start points wise. 11/15 is a good return. But room for improvement in the performances. Wilders been far from perfect tactically but yesterday was one of his better performances this season. I thought we were pretty crap in possession but we were playing a counter attacking style so considering we got the 3 points I’m OK with that.

If i was to mark him out of 10 so far i’d give him a 6.5/10.

If we start being more dynamic and composed in possession and wilder is more proactive with subs (like yesterday) then that will quickly rise.

It’s not just about on the pitch. It’s everything else too. If you’re going to put a random number against it, to suggest it’s only just above average is daft.

Also we’re 5 games in, hardly going to be like watching Pep’s Barca is it?

by my reckoning we had AA,blaster, Vini & Hamer stating from last season.

Will take time to gel, but no defeat in 5 when bedding in a 60% new team is decent going imo

Wasn’t on the CW return bus, but signings performance and fight is winning me over

Thats your take. I think at this level we should be playing better considering the squad. I’m not saying we've been crap every game but just lots to improve on. Still wasteful at a much easier level.

Wilders lack of tactical proactiveness has also cost us points.

It’s not a random number, it’s a number i feel is balanced based on what i’ve seen to help quantify/simplify how I feel he’s done so far. You can mark players and managers for individual games but not a run of 5?

It’s a brand new squad playing a brand new shape. What are you expecting?

A bit more, as i’ve already said. Some good new players here and some encouraging signs. But just because it’s a new squad i can’t be slapping a 10 or 9 on it 😂.

It’s been a decent start, with a few errors and improvement needed. Reflected in the score quoted in my opinion. Just out of interested what would your score out of 10 be so far?

Out of 10 ratings is a personal opinion
I think 6.5 is a bit harsh🤷‍♂️

Probably an easier question at the Start of season would have been……

“11 points earned from 5 games with no losses bedding in 7 new players into starting 11, would you take that?”

Like a £250,000 job offer from the brittle bone society, I’d snap their fuckin hand off

Well i am sure he will be thrilled at your report ;)

Go on be a devil and live dangerously and give them 8

Each to their own. The points total is a healthy return considering. I’m not disputing that. I just think we can improve. If i’d have given a 7. I don’t think there would be much push back. 6.5 and a few are annoyed.

Blades and west brom. Certain blades laughed at me regards West brom but they look a handful and top team
I watched their match earlier. They do seem like they are back to a old top end Championship West Bromwich don't they?.

6.5 is definitely harsh. How does he get another 3.5?

He's also had a low budget and not got all the players he wanted.

10 is a perfect score. I don't think anyone is giving a 10, maybe a few 8-9.

For a 10 (which is unrealistic in any walk of life) the full 15 points, a nicer brand of football (which is a work in progress I hope) and to not have made the tactical errors he did in games this season that have cost points. more goals scored and less goals conceded. if we had won all our games 3 nill and dominated and entertained thats a 10. we've had good moments and some bad moments so for me I can't dish out 10s or 9's. The good moments, mainly points, definitely outway the bad so far.

Not a popular opinion I know, most of mine aren't. I'm the opposite of rose tinted glasses. I must say that he's doing better than I expected though so hats off to him so far. UTB
