Agree with what you said generally, and with the hindsight of defeat it looks obvious. I too would have preferred Fleck to be replaced with Caruthers, and agree he is more like Fleck and in my opinion better able to keep the ball 8n tight spaces than Lundstram.
What I don’t get, is if you are missing Fleck, who has been one of our assist masters since he arrived, why you would then rest our other assist master? I know it’s a long season, and I know Duffy put a shift in at Leeds, but he could have given us an hour and left the field with us in a better position than when he came in. Being replaced to add combativeness after he had run them ragged for 60 minutes.
Like everyone else, Wilder and Knill are allowed to make errors, and I feel they perhaps made one last night. Obviously Flecks silly booking on Friday was the route cause but it means at least that he has been rested for the weekend.
As for the Don, he has missed a few games and regained fitness, if he were to have played I would have expected it to be for Clarke, who has covered some ground recently. Brooks only got 15 minutes at Leeds, so should have been used up front if Sharp needed resting.
But what’s really pissed me off, Is Baldock coming off injured again. He looks to be one who really struggles to get his body ready for the intensity of games and work we have. Not blaming him, it will come but while we have Freeman injured it means we will lose effectiveness at RB having Bash out there, and also lose his attacking prowess from RCB. Double Whammy.
So in short, From Friday I would have had only Samir in for Fleck and Brooks for Sharp. Don and Lundstram as planned subs to rest Clarke and Duffy, with the third to deal with other plans. But hindsight is great.
