Agree, like Alex Ferguson CW is a bad loser....he’s just not use to it.
The important factor is he won’t be overawed.
Really believe we’ll go to Anfield and Old Trafford and set up tactics to try and win.
Also believe that Wilder will genuinely believe that we can win away to these places.

Whereas Warnock, when playing away in the PL, seemed to have more of a damage limitation mentality.
Under NW our tactics seemed to be, let’s just keep it 0-0 as long as possible and see what happens.

If we approach away games in a positive fashion we will win a few but also every now and then we’ll lose 4 or 5-0.
You can bet some of our fans on this forum will be saying that Wilder is naive and needs to be more cautious/ defensive.

It will be interesting to see if Wilder continues with his “play on the front foot`’ approach trying to win games
Or after a few defeats, then does he concentrate on defence just trying to hold out for a draw.

I reckon Wilder will think f**** it and he’ll ignore fan criticism by continuing to win games, even after we’ve been thrashed.

Interestingly enough, Wilder said this seasons players handbook had the page taken out which said "We never play for a draw" because he understands points are precious and the difference between 38 and 39 points could make all the difference.....

so I dont think we will be quite as gung-ho as we were in the Championship.

I think the thinking behind this was that historically he's thrown on extra strikers in the last 20 mins or so to win games that were level. I think this season he might be happy with a point in these circumstances.

I can appreciate that he would want to see out the last, say, 15 to 20 minutes, but the approach under Clough and Adkins was the “we start with a point, let’s not lose it”. Wilder’s attitude is more “there’s 3 points there for us, let’s go and get them if we can” and for me that’s far better. I’d rather we win one then lose the next while trying to win than hang on for two boring draws.

Wilder's had a fantastic career to date but it's not like he's the first manager to come into the PL never having been sacked or relegation and with numerous promotions on his CV. He's not the first manager of an unfashionable club to be given funds to spend and planning to give it a real go in the PL.

Saying that, I think we'll survive comfortably. I also think some fans will be disappointed if we don't finish in the top six.

When Wilder took over at Northampton in Feb 2014 they were 6 points from safety at the bottom of league 2 . Not only did he save them from the drop , they won the league the next season with 99 points . He then took over the blades and we all know what happened after that .
In the 5 years since taking over that Northampton team at the bottom of league 2 Wilder has won more games and has a higher win percentage than any other manager in England . What’s even more remarkable is that in the 5 years he’s achieved that record , 2 years of it were spent with us in the championship , where the general opinion was that we would struggle , and 18 months of it were at Northampton who were a rock bottom league 2 team.
So here we are on the verge of a premier league season . Nobody is saying we’re going to finish top 6 but staying up and being competitive is our aim ..and our managers track record makes that highly achievable I would’ve thought .UTB

Agree with this. I actually think he was less gung ho last season than the season before. Bringing Carruthers on against Bristol when we had ten men seems to be the pinnacle of it and to me he seemed to calm down a bit after that.

The top six are out of reach (for now). There's also 2 or 3 clubs on the fringes. So I'm calling it now: best of the rest, i.e. top 10. And yeah I will be a tad disappointed if we don't because there's nothing in that lot to be afraid of.
